You can't really start going into specifics about race in MK or people will complain about why every race under the sun isn't included.

seems to me like you got a chip on your shoulder. There's NEVER been a consensus about what Jade's race is. To outright ASSume that everyone knows she's black and I must be racist because I, knowing she's black, want her to be something else just makes you look stupid. Her skin isn't even that dark, and she has GREEN eyes. How many "negroids" do you know with vividly emerald green eyes?

IMO:
Li Mei is Asian.
Tanya is black.
Sheeva is orange.
Jade is a mix of Indian and Afro-American.
Everyone else is white.

Either way races are non-existent in Outworld/Edenian characters such as kitana sindel mileena etc since no asia (or any other continent for that matter) exist in outworld. This Especially speaks for Jade since you cannot call her african/latina/native american since she is from outworld, not Earthrealm.

I don't feel the racial balance is bad considering some of the most iconic ninjas for males are asian like subzero and smoke (even though i believe he was confirmed eastern european? Maybe mixed...can't recall the post)

I think this suggestion could be easily reflected as to why no female native american exists against nightwolf.

Dark brown? Uh, no, Jade is light brown at best, tanned white in a stretch. Tanya is dark brown and leaves no doubt as to her being black. There are hundreds of races though with light brown skin. Including quite a few Asian ones.

I think people just like to see themselves represented. This is going to get highly speculative, and probably only grace the surface of a deeper issue. But when you're an underrepresented minority in the media, and consistently shown images of people of other races, it may make one begin to feel as if their own kind is not "preferred" or "ideal."

Like it's probably nothing you've ever had to deal with (not you in specific) because when you turn on the television, you can see people you identify with. But I guess for the Asian community, they do not really have idols on television. There's Lucy Liu, that guy from LOST, William Hung, and ... that dude from the Hangover movies and Knocked Up? It's slim pickings.

People just want to have someone to look up to, that they can relate to, either subconsciously or explicitly.

Tanya was lighter than Jade in Deception.

Jade looks tanned white in the new game, so i can only imagine what they'll do with Tanya if she's DLC. She'll look Sonya-white.
