True, but that wasn't the end of my sentence. What I was saying is that it's more than just nostalgia. Thanks.

Cybernetic Sub-Zero is a horrible, horrible idea, and was something my little brother doodled with blue and black crayon when MK3 came out.

I'd like to think "seeing a character become cybernetic who wasn't before" is a play on words meaning we'll actually see a human Cyrax pre-transformation. Yes, I'm reaching.

THANK YOU.

That's my exact problem with it too. Turning characters who are already established into more robots sounds like something a child would come up with.

It's exactly like a backstories version of palette swapping.

So if Sub becomes a cyborg, would his new name be 'Sub-Zero one one zero one zero zero'?

I think Cyber Frost is good bet, actually. Maybe Cyber Saibot.

Literally have had this exact thing on my mind for a while now.

In the story, Smoke and Sub-Zero are running away from the Lin Kuei because they are trying to make them cybernetic. Sub-Zero gets away, but Smoke doesn't. What if Smoke got away but Sub-Zero didn't? That would be pretty interesting.

They might also just introduce a new cyborg all together maybe> that would be a character that we haven't seen as a cyborg. Idk just a thought.

More than likely Boon was giving a hypothetical example, but I doubt the story selection he used was arbitrarily picked. There probably will be a significant change on how the automation unfolds, but we don't need to take his words too literally. If anything, this indicates we'll see Human Smoke take dominance. Nothing more.

The cyber Subzero idea is many things, but it's not nostalgic. I do remember some threads way back in the day about "What if Subz was teh robot!", and not once did I ever see anyone rally behind the idea. There was only mild acceptance or sheer disdain.

why did this little one off comment make such a whirlwind of speculation?

I can only explain my comment and basically what I was specualting was the fact Ed Boon said about Raiden changing things in the past which could mean someone who wasn't a cybernetic ninja before could be now and with the storyline in Mortal Kombat 3 about the Lin Kuei trying to turn Sub Zero and Smoke into Cyber ninjas (they succeed with Smoke) it is understandable for people to jump to that conclusion as changing that part of MK3 would result in Sub Zero turning into a robot (ie, he never escaped the Lin Kuei in MK3).

As for every other name mentioned? No idea but I like a few of the suggestions such as Stryker or Frost to turn robo ninja as that would be cool.

"If your characters was in MK1-MK3 be sure he will be in"

So if it is really the older Sub and we will get a Cyborg-Younger-Sub (Stupid as hell) it would mean no NOOB.

So no it won't happen

No. I personally don't like the idea of involve ice and a cyborg. Ice can cause electrical failure if you ask me. smile Sektor as a cyborg at least makes sense to me, he seems like an armed weapon, weapons that can produce bombs. Smoke also make sense, cyborg are like machine, machine can give off smoke.

I think the original Sub-Zero will turn to Noob Saibot no matter what, so the younger will be the ice ninja. If any change needs to be make, maybe do away with Cyrax as a cyborg or even his whole character. His whole net thing is for the most part imo a rip of Scorpion spear. Speaking of that spear, yeah, Smoke shouldn't have it either, yeah.

We only need one Sub-Zero. What's the chances the younger brother dies and becomes Noob instead?

No. Sub-Zero is already confirmed in human form. Secondly there would be two characters with similiar moves, and not to mention a bunch of pissed off fans.

Why do people keep assuming that if they change a character in the storyline then there has to be two versions of the character?
Don't you think it would make more sense that there will be unlockable characters and in the storyline you won't play as him (as I assume it will be MKvsDC type story mode) then when you come across the character that will be changed, the change will happen and THEN he will be playable in the story mode and unlocked arcade.

Makes sense to me.
Change someone into a robot if you like, as long as it is done right I'm happy. I just hope that it won't be as ridiculous as something like Scorpion, Sub or for the love of god Shao Kahn (I can just imagine the story. Shao Kahn being engineered into a 90 foot robot crushing everyone in outworld. Cringe-worthy)

Look on the plus side, Robo Kahn vs Mothra would be all kinds of badass.

That would be unbelievably awesome.
I feel like I should start writing the screenplay straight away.
I can see it now up on the big screen. 3D obviously so we could have Robo Kahn bring down the mallet on our faces.
I think I just came.

I had a strange "what if?" come to my mind.

What if the devs decide to throw a curveball and the elder Sub-Zero ends up being the one automated? Perhaps due to his loyalty he volunteers. Perhaps he ends up joining his brother and Smoke in their getaway and decided to sacrifice himself when the Lin Kuei ambushed their escape attempt. Thus setting the stage for his younger brother's rise.

That isn't what I expect to happen or even have any desire to see happen, just a weird, wildcard that crossed my mind. More crazy speculation of possible outcomes. In honesty I'm kind of divided on a Cyber Sub-Zero at best. A rather delicate part of the franchise to be meddling with.
