The X-rays aren't going to be replaced by those bone cruncher moves though, the X-ray moves will probably be one of the mainstays since Mortal Kombat has introduce the meter system, it's equivalent to the Ultras, Critical Finishes, and Ultimate attacks of other fighters, it's here to stay in my view.

and no, these X-Rays are fucking awesome, Sindel's and Kabal's X-Ray actually put a tear in my eye every time i see it, because of personal experience *CRIIINGEEE*

Three of the best lines said in the game:

Raiden says "MOUNTAIN YELLOW!" during a lightning bolt . For some reason, Shinnok sounds more like he says "CURSE OBAMA!" to me . Weird, as I am neutral towards the president and MK4 was released back in 1997.

I still think the weirdest one was Fujin's. I cannot even explain what he did, but he left the opponent rolling backwards with a loud explosion noise following it. I mean, I can't even describe it because it was THAT confusing.

Bone breakers were seperate to their throws. LP was used for throws and LK for bone breakers.

If I recall, Sonya's throw was a suplex, and her breaker was a neck snap.

The MK4 Bone Breakers were one of the best things of that game and one of the best new additions to MK, ever. Period.

It was a real shame that we didn't get to see them return for such a long long time. But, the X-Rays most certainly made up for their unforgivable absence.

Those moves had potential!

I mean, I guess we did get a few "bone breakers" type of moves in MKD (did we, guys?), but, I seriously don't remember. They certainly didn't have that fantastic and satisfying impact and bone crushing sounds (plus the very iconic hilarious nostalgic screams)...

I think that it wasn't until MKvsDC that we truly got a glorious nod to them in the form of Sonya's cool Fatality (and don't you dare mention MKA Create a Fatality because that's one of the biggest bullshit and most insulting things ever for MK):



Such an awesome Fatality and one of my top favorite bone-breaker moves in MK4 and MKGold!



Remembering that MKvsDC Fatality pisses me off even more about her "Cut Throat" in MK9...and the fact that there is still NO DLC KISS Fatality....yet. I wish they would have brought that one back with a new twist. With their new cinematic direction, they could have really made this one an epic winner despite its simplicity and not so gory look.

The X-Rays might not be the exact same thing, but, I think they can still be considered like a small nod to the MK4 Bone Breakers...with obvious improved technology and creativity.

And like others have said, the X-Rays have become such a popular fantastic new addition (unlike other forgettable yet cool additions like Free Fall Kombat and Klose-Kombat) that I too feel they are here to stay....the trick is going to be creating different new X-Rays again and again. Maybe they will end up becoming variations of something else (brutalities, anyone?).

They are certainly one of the best new things to have ever been created for MK, the X-Rays, and unlike the MK4 Bone Breakers, I hope they are here to stay.

The best MK4 Bone breakers from the top of my head:

Sonya's
Tanya's (one of my absolute top favorites)
Reptile's
Fujin's
Johnny's
Raiden's

And because I don't remember who does them:

- The one where they bend both knees with the feet.
- The one where they bend one knee upwards and twisted.
- The one where they break the neck and then stomp them (Shinnok's?)

PS: Are some people actually ranting about the impossible MK4 bone breakers? Are you serious? After the X-Rays I thought we had finally left those kind of silly rants far behind us.

I believe X-Rays could be considered very improved version of Bonebreakers. Or at least they partially inspired by it.

In MKD there were only throws, but some of them were quite complicated and could resemble Bonebreakers.

those bone breaker moves were like the prerequisite to the x-rays. I rmember shinnok's bone breaker where he pulled your legs from under you, stomped on your head once, and then jump on the opponents ribcage wth both feet.
