Games seem to be every four years at this point. I'm not sure how the next generation of consoles will affect things in regards to speeding them up or slowing them down. There will no doubt be pressures with the movie, but who knows if that will just lead to more downloadable content or what have you. Plus, they could be working on other stuff. We might get some sort of spin-off before the next title. NRS can keep stuff under wraps.

My opinion is that it won't be a direct sequel. MK11's time storyline felt very definitive and like it lends itself to another reset. That could be starting back at the beginning or going sideways into an entirely new timeline that feels like a "new" game.
