As a fan of the lore and history of Mortal Kombat, I'd love to see them go in the past.

As far as if it's a good idea.... well if they shoe-horn current movesets into ancestors it'll just be a mess. Kung Lao with a moveset that doesn't resemble Kung Lao will confuse the average player(or giving him a hat for some reason). They'll either need to create a lot of new characters(MK fans are scared of new characters if there's too much of them) or create duplicates like the first man using the Sub-Zero name, the leader of the Shiray Ryu that likes to use spears, etc.

I'd prefer a special DLC with 4 characters from the past in a current game. Great Kung Lao is long overdue to be playable.

Prequels are almost always a bad idea. I wouldn't mind a chapter of story mode set in the distant past or something, though.

But I like the new story, sooo.

Id buy a prequel game. Idk if we will ever get an actual prequel, but its fun to imagine what could be lol

So do I tbh. I'd actually be more excited to see what's next instead of journeying back into what we already know just so they can retcon the shit out if it again, creating a massive windstorm of confusion.

A prequel game would be nice but now is not the time. They already planted story seeds for the next game, PLUS they introduced this new generation of fighters. It would be incredibly odd to establish all this new stuff, and then do a prequel.

As for where the story is headed im down, I liked MKX's story and where they seem to be going with it.

No prequel games for me please. I wouldn't mind some cut-scenes from the far past, such as Shao Khan poisoning Onaga, or Goro defeating the Great Kung Lao. Tying events like these in to the new story would be pretty cool, especially if Onaga were to return. An entire game based on the past though...no thanks.

I'm cool with the idea, they could do a Shaolin Monks kind of game for the prequel but not right after Mkx, it's too soon imo.

No thanks. Too much has been set up for the next game. Maybe after MK11 depending on where that takes us, but I think it's important to keep moving forward, especially now that we're in an altered timeline.

Well, I suggested in another thread that if they still want to continue the current plot, there could always be some elements that relate back to the past, and a couple chapters can be presented in flashback format.

A while back I thought if MK Assassins game, which would focus on Tundra, SubZero and Smoke carrying out missions for the Lin Kuei. Sector and Cyrax would like a rival team within the Lin Kuei.

or a Shokan game, Goro and Kintaro as they combat the dissent in the Outworld realms, rivalries with the centaur and Motaro.

I like a prequel game idea. But couple questions. Will it just be one game or maybe a series of games? Also, since we know of the story, these games will seem to end with evil winning. i.e. Shao Kahn successful conquest of Edenia or Goro defeated the Great Kung Lao. But perhaps we can conclude a slight happy ending? Kinda like Star Wars Episode 3, Revenge of the Sith and how ultimately the ending seems to have the Sith win, but they show the birth of Luke and Leia as the new hope. Perhaps this game or games could end with after Shao Kahn merge Edenia with Outworld, he informed Shang Tsung, of his distrust of his new stepdaughter, Kitana, who later joined Earth realm as we know. This also marks the beginning of Mileena enabled flesh pit cloning process.

Botched? If anything this is the most interesting Liu Kang and Kitana have been. The story is actually intriguing in the end. Don't try to make it come off as fact that the story is botched please.

Botched is an actually being quite nice, having a team of attemped young avengers is lame. If I wanted a superhero movie, i would watch one. Also making these guys sons and daughters of original characters is not as original as pallet swapping ninjas. At least the ninjas had more interesting backstories. The length of the story mode was also crap.
