Boon has always enjoyed messing with people.

Baraka sucks anyway.

I think they ruined him in MKD. I liked him as the skinny, wierdly postured mutant that walked with his arms out. They just turned him into yet another musclebound He-Man figure in MKD.

I'd be glad if he wasn't in the next game, its been overkill with him recently.

Deception then Armageddon then MK vs DC.

Yeah, doesn't mean anything, although I doubt that Baraka will, nor should he, be back. He's a pretty simple character, with a pretty simple shtick. There are far more interesting characters to have return.

I think the most exciting thing Baraka could have done was with a story tweak in Mortal Kombat: Deception. They could have done some sort of story where Onaga was against the Tarkatan race, because it was not "pure," and Baraka stood as a lone wolf -- away from the Forces of Light -- fighting against the oppression of Onaga. Instead, we got more of his irrelevant lackey stuff.

Unless Baraka stops being such a boss-WHORE, then i'm glad he's not gonna be in the new one!
