I could see Baraka if they do a "Story pack", and throw in Rain, Sindel and Fujin. But yeah...that won't happen.

So many times I've read people say that this or that was definitely not happening. And so many times I've seen them be wrong. Just a few examples below:

1) Li Mei and Bo Rai Cho were definitely considered goners after MK:DA, before they were confirmed for MKD. How fondly I remember that. People were so arrogant about these two being gone, and then they returned to their complete shock.

2) Johnny and Sonya were thought as deconfirmed by Cassie's very presence, especially Sonya. But wait, who are those characters that look like Johnny and Sonya? Why, Johnny and Sonya, of course!

3) Predator in, Cyborgs out. Yeah, right.

And even if there was no chance of those two getting in, what are we supposed to do, only request characters that will definitely be in? What would the point of requesting anyone or anything then if it wasn't what we personally wanted? Plus, mind telling me who's guaranteed to return, exactly?

Obviously none of us can 100% guarantee anything, but why would they put in a character that already has a presence in other variations? They're not going to open Pandora's Box and take out already established variations. So... Baraka is out (Alien - Tarkatan) and Jade is out (Kitana - Mournful). Might even argue that Noob is out (Johnny - Stunt Double).

At this point, it might all be moot anyways... no more characters :/

Noob, Jade and Baraka are all popular characters (though I admit Noob and Jade are much more popular than Baraka). Popularity can trump originality, meaning, that even if they wouldn't have unique movesets, NRS might bring them back anyway, since they'd sell.

And the only moves borrowed from Noob are his clone moves. Not his disabling projectiles, not his teleport slam, and not his portal moves (though Quan Chi does use portals, but not the way Noob did in MK9). That's three moves left for him.

Baraka, meanwhile can have a different blade fury. There's been many different animations for it throughout the series, the Alien's included. Plus, the Alien has no spark projectiles.

Jacqui has a missile move, Cassie the overhead one, two of Sektor's very few moves. Yet he still returned, even if it was just as a variant.

Jade I admit had more moves that were borrowed than the aforementioned three, but there's what we call new moves. With those, Noob, Jade and Baraka can be made different enough.

Besides, it's not like there are no shared moves in MKX. Plenty of characters can deflect projectiles, Cassie and Johnny can both low blow their opponents, and so on.

Finally, Baraka vs the Alien is a must. A Tarkata-born Alien, but no Tarkata to actually fight it? Come on. The Predator is also another fitting opponent for Baraka. Neither the Alien nor the Predator will likely return in the future, so leaving Baraka out of the one MK game featuring these two on it's roster is foolish, imo.

At this point in the game's cycle, however, I don't see any of that happening. It'd probably be most efficient and beneficial to save Noob, Jade, and Baraka (or a new Tarkatan) for MK11. If we get anything more, I feel like it'll be Rain and Sindel. How sick would a Royalty Pack with Rain, Sindel and Shao Kahn be?

Aquaman's tentacle summon move was something I'd suggested for a Rain variation.
I don't know if this raises or lowers Rain's chances of inclusion. Though he'd be fine without it.

There's too many potential candidates to pick. Between the remaining Revenants, and MIA characters to comic/brief story cameos.
Fujin, Jade, Noob, Sindel, Smoke, Stryker, Kabal, Sareena, Frost, Li Mei...

Of course anything is possible at this point. Don't for get the 2 guests half of us will bitch about. Personally I think Spawn & Ash from Evil Dead have a lot to offer, moveset/variation wise. Who knows what franchises they'd look into though, there's a lot out there. Maybe something I'm not into or haven't seen has something more to offer.


On another note, I may pick up Injustice 2. Looks interesting so far, with much more yet to be revealed.

At this point, I just wish that they'd tell us what's next. I don't need specifics, but if there are no more characters, than say so. I think most people would understand. Besides, if you're still playing the game, then it's more than likely that you wouldn't drop it because no more characters are coming.

Now that SDCC is over, hopefully they can be a bit more transparent on what the plan will be for MKX. I'm curious about Boon's tweet, but we've been down this road before, so I really don't want to get my hopes up, especially given how long this game's been out.

I seriously doubt it is more characters really, a new stage maybe and some new skins would be more likely. As well as more stuff for the mobile game like more frequent souls/rubies, some new bronze/silver tier characters would be very nice for diversity, and re-visiting more old challenges for those of us that missed out first time around. But this is all wishful thinking.

I do really hope it's more characters. Even if it's just two characters. I had not played MKX for a little while but I picked it back up recently and it's honestly tied for top 3 MK games for me.

UMK3, MK9 and this are all pretty damn close to perfect. MKX will hit the top if it has Noob Saibot in the game, despite a few roster flaws *coughcassiejacquibutnofujincough* and the pretty poor story, there has been SO much effort put into this game that it's impossible not to admire as a fighting game fan and Mortal Kombat fan.

People are speculating that a KP3 or other form of DLC announcement is inbound, and that it'll feature some Deadly Alliance related content, because of this:

This is just one twitter poll though. He's done ones concerning KP3, which characters we want in the future, etc. It could be all of them, it could be none of them.

You don't tell the public "big mkx news coming" long before a decision on the direction is even made. The polls may influence the future but that one has nothing to do with what is coming. Whatever it is has already been diced upon and is well on the way.

People just need to look at this from a professional, business standpoint. A lot of these tinfoil hats will disappear quickly. It might not give us an answer but we can definitely narrow down the possibilities.

All of this can happen in addition to a Kombat Pack. KP2 came along with GGPO for MKXL and balance patches has always been snuck in with new dlc. Also, a new season of ESL would absolutely make sense with the game getting fresh content.

KP3 is more inevitable than ever at this point.

While I agree its not out of the picture, it seems they're more focused on balance tweaks. I'm happy for the PCers if MKXL PC comes to fruition. As for ESL...ffs Ed, no one cares except SonicFox.

I would just like to point out that if you want to get really technical about it, if they only release one or two extra characters to finish it off similar to Injustice 1, then that's not exactly a "Kombat Pack" per say.

One classic and one mk4 era would be great. Boon's most missed poll was odd since 3 were NPCs + Noob Saibot who won by a landslide. Fujin and Noob (which is probably Smoke given the poll and his story appearance who resembled Noob) would be great finalists!!

I also think that would be a more than reasonable delivery on the fan base expectations...I'm not here thinking there's going to be another 4 characters, new arena and outfits. I'd expect, at the MOST, 1 character, maybe 2, and a few more outfits (which would probably be classic ninja outfit for tremor, and one other character). MAYBE classic fatality pack (the previous DLC pack flyer shows Kano performing the heart rip).

We'll see.

Otherwise idgaf about ESL and PC release doesn't really affect me in any way (unless they pull a "sorry for the inconvenience, here's 3 exclusive characters" nonsense).

Eh, that's two more characters than I thought we'd get four months ago. I'm down!
