i think they shuld b-cuz i was at my friend's house i was playin online i was scorpion and the person i was facing was liu kang. we were fightin at the faliing cliffs and i was kickin his ass and i got him up to the piont where u cant d-fend ureself anymore and all of a sudden i get uppercutted off and he wins so who ever does not want death traps to be at any time reply now.and anyway it is stupid that when u get hit off and u wuld come right back to normal. i know that mk has no realism but they shuld at least do this again.

wut do u think?

Personally, I agree 100% with you, and would much rather see old style pit fatalities return than death traps. For two reasons,

The first, as you said. It is very stupid having a fighter die violently in round 1 through impalement, burning whatever, and then have them come back as normal round 2. Also takes all the impact away from end of round fatalities, they're no longer the satisfying finishers they were before MKD.

Second, it take a lot of the skill (if you can say that about the broken gameplay anyway) away from fighting. There is nothing lamer than coming very close to beating someone with your own skill, only to have them get a lucky punch, and win the match through a death trap. These greatly add to the game's overall cheesy gameplay, imo. I have to say I never really liked ring outs in games like Soul Calibur either.

I have to agree with all that, though I don't mind the Soul Calibur ringouts.

Deathtraps annoy me so bad and I hate the falling Cliff and Nexus stages mainly in MKD. I agree that they take away a skill and allow others lucky wins, but some would say being able to avoid them shows skill too. I guess it comes down to preference. I would say remove them and go for normal ring outs or scrap them all together. Bring back the Stage Fatalities and have it all as it used to be.

No. But there should be a chance to survivea deathtrap. for example, you get out with horrible scars (if the trap makes it possible to escape) but still fight with minimal energy left. I think that would add strategy to he fight.

I want them gone. Ring outs/death traps are not MK. MK is strictly the "good" gameplay. I just turn them off in MKD.

I for one would have to say that I love deathtraps and definetly think they should be in MK7! Here is my reasoning, deathtraps add another element to the fighting in which you will need to constantlty focus on. I feel that the 3D motion which was used for mk:d allowed you to either escape from being knocked in a deathtrap or position yourself to knock an opponent into the deathtrap (that is if you even play with death traps on).

Even though I like deathtraps and would want to see them again, I think that I would change a couple of things. Say you have lost less than 50% of your health and you get knocked into a deathtrap, your character should automatically save themself from what ever deathtrap they may be threatened by in whatever way you possibly can,(if it is escapable, some wont be like in the Kuatan Palace), without even having to pressing one button. For instence: If you are playing on the pit arena and get hit while your bar thing is yellow, you will fall off the platform and grab on to it saving yourself from a fatal drop to death and pulling yourself back up.

If you have lost 50%-75% of your health and you are knocked into a deathtrap, now you should have to struggle to save yourself from the deathtrap by either tapping a certain button really fast or using some other useful method that may be used. For instence: if you are playing on the hells foundary arena and get hit while your bar is yellow, you will be knocked onto the hot orange metal. If you tap fast enough you will be able to crawl out of there avoiding being smashed into ashes but if you do not press it fast enough you will be smashed into ash.

NOW if you have lost more than 75% of your health and get knocked into a deathtrap, you should be too weak to save yourself from it and end up dying just like the way you do in MKD(Die instantly). For instence: if you are playing in the pit arena and get hit while your bar is yellow, you will fall off onto the spikes.

Like in MKD, there will be many arenas and about 50% of the arenas on the game should have deathtraps. Some deathtraps would be escapable and others wouldn't be escapable. Arenas like the pit, dark prison, nexus, golden desert, sky temple, etc, would be escapable in one way or another but arenas like kuatan palace, dead pool, slaughter house, etc would not be escapable because of obvious reasons.

I think that they tryed to use a something like this on the Dragon temple arena because whenever you get hit while your bar is yellow you sometimes will stagger on the edge but not quite fall into the spike and other times you will immediately be sent flying on to a spike which imo is one of the funniest ways to be killed.grin
*slice... arrggguu..aaaahhooh..last gasp* I love it.

I love Death trap, they were a great new feature in MK:D!! But the point of death traps is when your fighting, you have to WATCH YOUR SUROUNDINGS!!!

But you know if you don't like them , you can always turn it OFF!!!wink

I agree, I mean if you don't like it then just turn it off; it's simple.

Some people like it and some people don't either way you win because if you like it you leave it on, if you don't then you just turn it off. wow

They could always just make it a single round- having deathtraps where you come back for the next round makes no sense, and on the other hand, having instant deathtraps that end it does not fit if you have a `rounds` system. Just because every other fighting game has a `best of 3` system doesn't mean MK has to as well.

They created death traps because of the opponent being able to have the chance of making a comeback.

yeah well it wont take alot of skill to make a come back by gettin a lucky shot and winnin automatically. in mk1-gold the death traps were at the end and those games were even harder. so y dont they just have it how it once was.furious

Just turn it OFF !!

Seriously, if you can handle Losing then play Stages without Death traps!!! Not to be rude or start a feud but you don't have to play stages with death traps!!
