I think when they originally made that claim, they were referring to Dark Raiden and Zombie Liu Kang...but they turned out to be pretty much just as easy to unlock as everybody else, so it became a running joke.

Oh, he says it in interviews all the time, has since the 90's. It's kind of a running joke, because it's clearly good-natured trolling. Fans with programming knowledge have loooong ago hacked into the game's code and know everything about it.



Dr. Mario has the Spin Attack down-special instead of the stupid Fludd, so yes, I wanted him.

^ He probably meant Dark Pit. And I do like Dr. Mario because of his down+B being the tornado like it was originally instead of FLUDD. I certainly don't see why it was bad to have him in.

40 characters wouldn't be necessary, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be cool. On the other hand, MK9 has to worry about the hardcore fighting game players a lot more than Smash Bros. It has to be a balance between a game anyone can pick up and play for fun and a competitive game that involves a lot of strategy. More characters would obviously make the latter part a lot more challenging.
