He needs a second chance.....
But sadly he is dead. And here is why.
- He commits suicide in his UMK3 ending.
- There is a code that you do on the UMK3 vs screen that says at the bottom of the screen "Rain can be found in the graveyard" You only enter a graveyard if you are dead right?
- Jade kills him in Konquest mode.
*sigh* I miss Rain too.

Rain is, or was, an Edenian warrior who's father was killed when Shao Kahn conquered Edenia. During the invasion of Earth, he fought for Shao Kahn's forces, fearing death by the extermination squads.
Supposedly Kitana got him to turn against Kahn and join Earth's forces. However, his loyalty came under question when he disappeared during a battle. Determined to prove himself to Kitana, he went on a suicide mission to kill Shao Kahn.
Obviously he didn't kill Kahn, but it hasn't been confirmed he died in his attempt.
And the side missions in Konquest, like the one with Rain, aren't canon.
I see Rain coming back trying to redeem himself for Kitana, and as a potential love interest for her. I see Rain as the poor schuck who can't do anything right (like die fighting Shao Kahn), trying to win the love of a woman who's way out of his league. And his competition is Liu Kang who happens to be the big hero who always saves the day.
Where he goes and what he does depends on what happens to Kitana from here on in and I don't feel like explaining my ideas for Kitana in detail at this time....but to some up: out of the events of the Dragon King Saga, Kitana's life falls apart and Rain is there to help her pick up the pieces. From there he'd take a position in Edenia's army and help them fight off whatever evils invade.
And if Liu Kang is back for good as he was before, I'd rather he wasn't, well then there's a potential triangle there.
I'll admit Rain trying to win Kitana's affection limits him in the story, since much of what he'll do will depend on Kitana and what's happening to her....but his story can evolve and he could be faced with new conflicts and challenges as the game goes on, lik edealing with his past cowardice and possible a jealousy over Liu Kang.

he didnt commit suicide. he didnt kill himself. he went on a suicide mission after Kahn wich still doesnt mean he is dead or if that ending is even canon. we will just have to wait and find out. possibly he went back with Kahn? maybe he was killed? maybe he has just been in hiding? personally i think he has just been in hiding, but w/e he's been up to he should still be in MK7.
as for that graveyard thing in UMK3 that was a joke saying that Prince's carear was dead. thats how they came up with Rain in the first place. hes a big pun towards Prince. u know the song "Purple Rain". get it now?
as for Konquest i believe parts of it is canon but a lot of it not canon. as for the Jade and Rain part i cant say what i think about it since i never found Rain again after the first time i found him in Edenia and talked to Jade there.
now that reptile is part onaga...after onagas gone..i think reptile will have upgraded abilities....but he would have died...so he has to be ressurected....or sindels ending had to have been true leaving reptile intact while onagas souls left his body

i think the future of Reptile is very very unclear. well i believe he will be back in his human git-up (or some thing similare to his look in Shaolin Monks) when he returns. although when will he return? i imagine he is pretty weak right now (i dont believe he died with Onaga just went back to his form) after the whole Onaga thing. so i wouldnt be surprised that he wont be in MK7. i hope so tho.
so what could be his story? well i hope its not same old same old with Reptile being someones bitch. i mean he has served Shao Kahn loyaly for years without getting any thing in return. what does he want? same thing he has always wanted. for his realm Zattera to be freed from Outworld and he has served evil masters who he has believed could help him (like Shao Kahn). well now Reptile needs a major twist in his story line. i thought the whole Onaga thing was gonna be the big twist for Reptile but it wasnt really.
what id like for a nice twist in Reptiles story is well for one thing him to not be insane any more (as he involved he seemed to get more crazy. just look at him in MKDA) and to realize that Shao Kahn isnt going to free his realm. so id like to see Reptile join the Earthrealm warriors in the fight against Shao Kahn in an attempt by Reptile to beat down Kahn and get his realm freed. although i dont think Reptile could actually beat Shao Kahn (atleast not by himself) i think it would be a good story line for Reppy.
OR maybe Reptile and Rain could join forces (maybe even Ermac too?) and go after Shao Kahn asa neutral team. that would be sweet imo. either way id be fine with it
hell ill be happy with any thing. just as long as Reptile makes it in there ill enjoy the game much more rather than if he doesnt get in it.
damn.... i should stop speculating.... its not good for me..... ruined MKD from too much speculation....

It isn't ever stated what happens to Shinnok. All that is known is that Quan Chi stole the Amulet from him at some point, and Liu Kang likely defeated him due to the number of victories upon Liu Kang's Tomb stage. It would of course make more sense if Raiden defeated Shinnok, though.
In any event, Shinnok was likely banished to the Netherrealm once more. (As we saw with Raiden, Gods don't seem to die... even if their physical bodies are destroyed). Since Earthrealm is the realm which Raiden "rules" over, he was reborn there. Therefore it is very likely Shinnok would have reappeared in the Netherrealm upon his defeat.
----------
As for the future, Shinnok should return most definitely. His appearance in the fighting MK games was flawed due to MK4's poor engine, and the idiotic decision of the MK team to give him Impersonations. If you have ever played Mortal Kombat Mythologies, you will see Shinnok is a much different character than portrayed to be in MK4. He had great potential to be an excellent boss, but due to poor programming was reduced to pretty much a regular character.
Shinnok has a connection to the current storyline... that of course being the Amulet. He created this amulet some time ago. The information known about this is that it can only be created once, and holds unspeakable powers. Obviously in Deception we see this power as the ability to fuse the Kamidogu.
I feel Shinnok, being a former Elder God, knew of the One Being's power to control the likes of Shao Kahn and Onaga through its conscience. He created this amulet in hopes that the Kamidogu would never be fused, therefore not allowing the One Being to come into existense. Since Shinnok was one of the Elder Gods who originally split the One Being into the realms, he would be well aware of the dangers posed by the One Being reforming itself.
In the storyline I am currently writing, Shinnok is the final boss of MK7. Onaga and Shao Kahn are both in the game as well, but once the character defeats them in a storyline mode, they attempt to fuse the Kamidogu only to realize it is futile since the Amulet is gone. This is when Shinnok reveals himself and proclaims they are simply being controlled by a higher level of power.
The final battle then ensues. Of course, this is only a sketch of the actual storyline idea I have itself, as I would rather not get into that within this topic.

That's what so annoying about the Mk story. They always end with 'what ifs". It gets so confusing
What Crow said sounded very credible. Shinnok really does have alot of potential. And to come to think of it, he does have quite a few connections with the One-Being. But I really can't see Shinnok returning as the boss though. But perhaps in the next mk game the bad guys will team up with the good guys to battle a greater evil, such as the One-Being. Raiden was willing to fight with the Deadly Alliance to stop the Dragon King wasnt he? I can see the same thing happening again.
P.S you guys should check out my version of the One-Being in my MK:WOR story.
