Green venom, not acid. The two substances are different. However, yes it does look cool.

Have to say the explosive bug bombs sound interesting. ALL the new characters seem to be original and not copies from any other MK character. Aside from Cassie for obvious reasons. DVorah seems very unique.
I think variation may be more for letting the opponent know which variation you're using. I wonder if that means that there are modes in the game where we can't see what the other player/cpu is picking.
In King of the Hill in MK9 could you always see who your opponent was picking?

Why not a video like they did with Raiden? I know she's been revealed but that video really helped show how the variations are different which is useful

NetherRealm Studios purposely wants counter picking to happen in this game, it's ridiculous. I see the variation costumes as a tell for both your opponent and you to be reminded.
No. Mortal Kombat 9 did not hide the character you are picking online nor did Injustice. You do however in MK9 can manually do it yourself by selecting the hidden option during the character select screen, but you can't see your cursor, so god help you if you accidentally moved your thumbstick the wrong way.

I don't know. In Game Informer Boon says that they're giving pros as much time as they need with the game for balance. I think it's less about counter picking match ups and more about giving players the option to play the character they want in a style they want. Giving a zoning character more rush down options or vice versa etc etc.

Not even near the same.
D'Vorah places a bug on the ground, with the bug's delayed time, it gives D'Vorah time to rush to her opponent and attack. While the bug's attack will act like an additional assist hit, if timed and hit correctly, could give D'Vorah a chance to apply more attacks to the opponent.
And not only that. Just placing it down will make the player have to choose which to fear more.
That bug crawling to you, you may most likely try to jump over it which could cause you to be air bait. Choose not to jump it and just eat the attack could cause you to eat a combo if D'Vorah is fast enough and well timed.
I wonder what happens if you simply block it?
And I'm curious to know what the Enhance version is, I'm thinking a stun (free hit).
Drahmin's flies are just a projectile attack. Nothing more. womp womp

Isn't one of her projectiles(throwing bugs) the same thing Drahmin did in MKDA? Throwing flies to opponents.

Yeap. It's a delayed ground projectile that likely hits low with enough recovery that D'Vorah can rushdown with it to create a overhead/low mixup.

It's her free hit kind of move that Boon is so fond of right? Looks like Sub-Zero was struggling to get free a bit there.

I dont think it's a "free hit" as much as it is a low projectile that can lead to mixups and pressure. For example, her she uses it to force crossup pressure because of the threat of having to block high/low almost simultaneously.

It's a little thing but I really like how each variation seems like it will have one of those little symbols. It's a really good indicator of the level of polish this game will have. I'm not surprised, since Injustice had tons of attention to detail. I'm just glad to start seeing it.
I really hope they do these little breakdowns for all the revealed characters.

The insect minion crawls independently of D'Vorah. So, presumably its just a description of the fact it limits practical manoeuvrability for the opponent.
