man..seriosly...now it doesnt even seem like midway cares about the fighting aspect of mk...there too involved with krapkuest and chess and puzzle.....seriosly...i can probebly say that konquest got more attention than the fighting portion.and now they are going shaolin monks...which actually looks good but isnt a fighter..
...i feel ripped off....like look at todays traditional fighting games..tekken5..look at the graphics...or even tekken 4...looked better than mk

i am not sayin mk is crapy...but it needs a revamp..hopefully the next gen can give them more potential for character unique move sets like tekken or some graphics that look relatively real....its becomming a moving comic book..

i dont mean any offense to mk fans..i am 1 myself..but for the next game...all tehy should have is fighting and test your might...and online if they want...

people think the chicks of mk are hot..look at a gameplay shot of mileena ..and then 1 of christie from tekken....yea..big diff...

well...im sure even the most die hard mk fans have something they want corrected..heres where to post it..

I am sure that the MK creators read and take notes of what is said or written.
I see the future of MK going the way of the comic book. We shall see what the next fighting game of MK will bring. It may be the same as the last two with a few changes or none at all.
I am not a Tekken fan, but then I am not a DOA fan either. I like my fighting games bloody or just plain crazy.
I still think overall, MK 2 was the best MK game to date. Deception is second.
THat is what I think, anyway.

The additional modes are simply an attempt to extend the games replay value, the fighting aspect of MKD is stil far and away the best part of the game. And the online fighting is simply incredible compared to online gameplay for some other games.

Additionally, I believe the Konquest mode, the new MKSM game, and what is to follow are the MK developers attempt do do more with the MK storyline than any simple fighting game will allow it to do. They want to tell an intersting and facinating story, and the way to do that is to have the MK characters participate in adventures more inaginative and expansive than a few simple paragraphs of text when you beat the final boss.

I believe the MK team has always done a good job of delivering good fighting games, but I think the team wants to ensure that MK is considered by people to be more than just a gory fighting game.

Midway's expansion of MK into the advanture genre is exciting and if do well, will produce some excellent, fun, and exciting games.

I don't think Midway is getting bored, only expanding their horizons. MK is one of their main money makers and almost a certain seller even if a game is crappy (Special Forces anyone *shivers*). Using the MK story for an adventure game and (dare I hope) an RPG is a way to increase marketablity for the MK francise (sp?). Look at me, I'm mainly a RPG player with adventure games a close 2nd. Mortal Kombat is the only fighting game I have any interest in, mainly because of the storyline and characters. One way for Mortal Kombat to continue to grow is to expand into other 'realms' of gameplay.

Addressing the two issues in this thread:

1) Mini-games in MK: D

Two ways to look at this one, the customer > creator view and the business view.

The customer > creator view is simply that Boon + Co wanting to put more in the game to provide a longer lifespan for the game.

The business view is that they didn't want to lose money on people realising what a state MK: D's engine is so they added several distractions in the form of mildly fun yet pointless mini-games. (Pointless in the relevence these mini-games have to the game itself)

Take whichever view you want, they probably had both in mind at the time.

The business view was probably used to justify the the customer > creator view.

2) MK games that branch into different gaming genres

Long story short, MK is Midway's best selling series, why not milk it for all it's worth with non-fighting game MK's?

More money for Midway, more storyline and character development for the fans.
