Mortal Kombat ... DS?
Mortal Kombat ... DS?
Sony fans put down your PSP fanboyness for a few seconds (we all know its just an ipod with some playstation games on it anyways) and journey with me to the seldom traveled lands of Nintendo.
Nintendo DS came out with a lot of hype, very little games. Heck, to this date the best thing someone can get on it is Wario Ware Touched ... yeesh (where's a Zelda Four Swords when you need it??) MKDA and MKTE made it on the Gameboy Advance. It made sense. In fact, I hear people actually liked MKTE. So what if MKD came out on the DS?
SSSSHHH!! I told you, put the PSP FANBOYNESS TO REST FOR A SECOND!!!!! We all know it would LOOK better on PSP, but I'm talking prospects here.
1 - Tournaments would be possible, since the thing connects with like 16 others with just one game cartridge.
Now what about the touch screen??? Ooooooh, the Test Your Might, Test Your Site, and Torture Mini Game possibilities one could have! Like making your opponnet fall off a cliff by tapping at his clasping hands! MUWAHAHA. Has your kid with a magnifying glass and an ant farm feel to it! :D
What do you guys think? Would it be a good move?

I don't think it was really necessary to put the whole PSP fanboyness in your thread. I think you should have went straight to your idea.
For me, the more MK, the better. I would very much like to see UMK 3 on the DS and on the PSP. Imagine being in an airport and whipping out your DS or PSP and firing up some online UMK3. :)
Maybe even a Mortal Kombat Kollection. :

It would be incredibly nice to have a MK on the DS
but I think if there is one the touch screen shouldn't be used (like in asphalt urban GT), maybe it can be used to select a character or enter a profile name or used on the menu, but during fights NO TOUCH SCREEN USE.
I like the idea that guy said about a UMK3 type MK. or how about a MK Trilogy type game on the DS.
And the graphics, well I would be prefectly happy with 2d graphics but how about 3D characters and 2D backgrounds (I think they did that with MK4, don't know never played it).
Imagine the the ides above mixed together, with all characters from MK Trilogy, to create what could possibly be the best portable MK. oh and also, I don't think deception would work that well (too much stuff to put on there)

Yes. I think it would be quite splendid indeed to see MK on the ds. I just hope it wouldn't be like Mk for the GBA...that was horrorible.

maybe they can have the touch screen be used to put in the comands for fatals.

I totally agree! Especially with the stylus mini-games. That would be AWSOME! I would buy it asap!

yeah i agree with all of u except S-c-o-r-p-i-o-n.
you could like touch the styles you want or touch the charecter screen the fighting would be at the top and the time helth and styles will be at the bottom sorta like super mairo 64 DS

I think they should just make one big mk collection with all of the 2d games, I would have more fun playing those, besides I'd rather play deception on my xbox then my psp. Could you imagine using the touch screen on the DS to break specific limbs. :0

yes i really do and yeah your right the 2d versions... because it has all the bottons from the snes!
S-c-o-r-p-o-i-o-n is right about the DS. I do not think Mortal Kombat will be for DS. Why? Think about it. Every game for the DS utilizes the dual screens. Imagen i fighting game with two screens, What will they do, put a radar? It would sux for DS. And a little coment off topic: The DS would be a lot better if nintedo would focus on ONE screen. Guys, dont hate the psp just because u cant afford one. Mortal kombat is gonna rock on the psp. It will sux on DS, No offense to nintedo lovers here.

Woot I made this all on my own with photosuite 8.1!!!

They could just make like trilogy for ds and not even use the bottom screen....i mean they dont have to use it.

Well if nintendo is such a kid friendly game, why were games like MK: Deception, killer 7, and many other graphic games made for nintendo systems? As for a MK DS game, i would like to see them give deception a go on the DS.

Well, you're both right because Nintendo does allow M rated games but, not as many as Xbox or PS2 would have because they are a kid friendly company.

I guess that's true, but who said they're just holding back?
Id love to see Mk on the DS, Guilty Gear is using both screens on the DS as it has multi tered levels. MK could do the same thing like when you smash some from say the top of the nethership to the bottom you land on the touch screen, stuff like that.On the character select you could have all the characters on the bottom screen and there info on the top on. Also a test your might where you have to scream at the DS would be great have like glass, stone etc you have to shatter sindel style, imagion chess kombat where you move the pieces using the stylus, the board on the bottom screen the fight on the top. Puzzle kombat could go across both screens ala Mr driller. I think the DS could hack a 3d Mk no probs too, it is two tiny n64s. If anybody wants to question the DS's 3d abilities they sould checkout videos of Another code:trace memories, splinter cell, mario 64, tak, need for speed and viewitful joe among others.

I completely agree with you. The DS has many 3d capabilities that have yet to be used or tapped into. I defenitely hope an MK game will be released for the DS.

MK Deception should be on the NDS.
Also Midway Arcade Treasures(including MK1 too!!) should be out on NDS.
Those 2 releases would please old and new fans together.
Fans happy,no piracy.. Midway, what are you waiting for ?

Yeah actually the MK: Te and Da where full 3D games. Not the stuff to make it look 3D. They are awesome and I think MK Ds could happen. With all the mini games and such. You could select a fighter and stage and have the bottom screen appear when its time to perform a fatality. You would have a couple of seconds to trace the word fatality or something cheesy like that. OK that might make it to easy but its very possible. uld preffer a game with lower quality graphics as long as I can get to the charcter select screen before the battery dies. *Cough*PSP*cough*

Well it sure would be kind of cool... But I think it would've been better if they just decided NOT to make "Deception" for the portable systems. It would be nice to get some info on the development of future 2-D Mortal Kombat games Ed Boon was mentioning in that making-of video(I'm not sure if it was on the the MK:D special features?). They should stick to 2-D for the Portable consoles and 3-D for current and future home consoles. I know they could do a really cool job on the 2-D games. I think that if 3-D fighting was attempted on the DS it would most likely look like crap(worse than MK4 on N64, most likely) and that if it were 3-D on the PSP it wouldn't be quite all it could(but maybe...it would). Oh well, there's my 2 cents. Did any of it make sense?

The best that I could come up with for classic games on the DS (even though I don't own one, it seems like a decent idea) is when playing something like MAT, you could have the action on the bottom screen, no stylus required, and you could have the arcade marquee of which game it is on top.
If nobody knows what a marquee is, here's a link to a whole slew of marquees.
http://arcadecontrols.com/arcade_marquee.shtml
Not the absolute best way to use the top screen, but hey, it does give an arcade experience, in my opinion.
I'm not a fanboy, but I do own a PSP. To the guy who cracked on the PSP for the battery dying before selecting a guy, grow up. I own a PSP and the only time that I had the battery die on me was when I was playing the system in between classes for an hour or so when I got it it lasted, but when I was playing it in our gaming club, it finally died on me, but only because I didn't charge the thing for three days, I put it to sleep each time I stopped playing, and because I was playing it like crazy that day that it drained. I probably got around 6 - 7 good hours out of it before I had to recharge.
If you get upset or crack on a portable system because it dies on you after 6 - 7 hours of play and you don't know enough to charge the battery in between plays, then you really need to find something better to do than playing a portable game for 6 - 7 hours straight and criticizing the makers or the system itself for not going on for a day and a half.
