- There should be options on how you finish off your opponent after a won match. It should be performing a "Hara-Kiri", where the defeated opponent bows down in ceremonial fashion and breaks their own neck. "Shows of Respect" where the victor simply bows to defeated opponent in a fist to palm fashion,"Fatality", "Shows of Mercy" where the winning opponent waves of the "Finish Him/Her" and the defeated character prays or pleads for mercy, "Second Chance" where the defeated opponent gets a little bit of energy replenished after being defeated, a "Babality" where the defeated opponent morphs into a baby at the end of a match or a "Submission" to where the defeated character bows down on one knee or both knees to the victorious fighter looking up to their opponent in defeat as if they are greater in comparison at the conclusion of the match and go their separate ways or bang on the ground as if to submit to the winning character. Or they could "Forfeit" maybe after a lost round or at the beginning of a match, the defeated character can face their opponent and open palm fist their opponent as a visual display, or the video game player can enter in some button combinations to leave the match or confrontation, especially if the opposing characters in the video game have some type of history or mutual respect for each other or they could just get on both knees and hands and tap out by banging on the ground with an open palm. Another option of finishing off one's opponent especially if it's an opponent of an opposite sex could be "French Kisses". That could be a visually display of one's appreciation for some healthy competition in the game we would assume. There could be "Friendships" where at the conclusion of the match, the losing combatants could get picked up from the ground by the winning combatant with extending their hand and they could shake hands and embrace each other like friends do when they haven't seen each other in a while and then raise each other's hands in the air like the conclusion of a boxing match when the announcer voices the victor. There could be "Faction Kills" where an associated member of the winning combatant can at the conclusion of the match, walk off stage while the "associated member" executes a front somersault and then performs a signature finishing move to the defeated opponent. And finally, "Imperic Victories" where the winning opponent would after winning a match would fall on both hands and knees and show some sort of remorse for the fighting. We think this could be another dynamic in showing emotion in a confrontation.

- Shao Kahn should only taunt his opponent when he has landed a series of combos or when he gains advantage during the course of his match or after he has won a round/match. Or when he has absorbed a combo from his opponent and merely shakes it off like it didn't hurt him when he says, "Is that your best"? He should also have more hand to hand combos during the course of his fight. I think this would give his character a more dynamic gameplay and present more of a challenge for video game players playing with either the Xbox or the PlayStation 3 consoles.

- For characters in the game that tote hand held weapons, it could be more realistic if they could lose their weapon during the course of a match due to absorbing an opposing combo or specialty moves from a rivaling opponent and fight their way towards recovering their weapon. That way you would be forced in those occasions to use the free-handed combos you’ve learned in the Training Mode.

- There should be an Konquest Mode formatted in a third shooter plane in which the character’s protocol should be to navigate through a series of maze like puzzles and discover clues like on a scavenger hunt through a story like narrative. It could possibly serve as a platform to showcase a character’s backstory through live action. It could also involve clans or associations with other affiliates such as the Shirai Ryu, Lin Kuei, Black Dragon, Special Forces Ops., White Lotus Society, Shaolin Temple, Outworld, Nether Realm and so forth and so on. Etc. And during the course of your journey, you would have to fight a series of different characters hidden in the game that are maybe guarding the clues or something to that affect. When you encounter the fighters, you could switch back into a one-on-one format like in the overall game. You could also be required to talk to certain characters that would provide clues and information about places that you needed to be at a certain time. If you win the match with a character, the defeated character would be able to join your team regardless of their ethical stance or alliances, so for example if you were fighting as Kung Lao as the main character and encounter Sindel as your adversary and win the match then she would join your side in your conquest to conqueror the maze and face and even more difficult opponents/boss character such as Onaga to which you would have to utilize the characters on your team to beat. Onaga could be revamped for the purposes of this mode and have a creative and unique move set. It could be like recruiting characters to fight to win over this mode through one-on-one encounters with an adventurous twist to it. You could also have hidden characters to unlock in this mode as well as different prizes, arenas and various modes/gaming features to uncover.

- It would be nice if they retained all the mini-games within the Mortal Kombat series. So for example they could keep the “Test Your Might”, “Test Your Sight”, “Test Your Strike” and “Test Your Luck” except on the various scenarios with “Test Your Luck” I think that they should have their limbs tied behind their back or be blindfolded in the random situations that are presented in the game instead of having head exploding or limbs cut off. A possible new game could be “Test Your Speed” where you would have a specific time limit to defeat your opponent and would be required to utilize combo sequences to pass the challenge of the task. In this mini-portion of the game, your challenge could be to fight a hidden character within a specified time limit, or breakdown an inanimate object such as a punching bag, human sized rock or dummy. And with the series of punches or combos would gradually breakdown the object or wear down the life bar of his opponent. "Test Your Knowledge" where you would be presented with a dialogue box to input the various combos or specialty moves for the character you are utilizing in the video game. Another possible Mini-game could be "Test Your Will", where you would have a hidden character to go against to test how passionate you are about obtaining or climbing up to another level or achieving prized possessions. Those are just some ideas that could possibly change up the dynamics of the game as well.

- I also think that there could be an option to turn off the blood spill in the “Options Menu” or turn of “Babalities” for video game players that maybe don’t like the graphic displays the game presents sometimes or the light-hearted feature of “Babalities”. At first I thought "Babalities" were corny looking and cartoonish. But now I can understand the feature may serve to showcase someone's skill level is amateur compared to yours or to deflate someone's ego. It can also be used to lighten up the tone of the game, and for those who like the serious and realistic tone of the game. But I still feel that there should be an option to turn this feature off if one chooses.

- I also think that specific character biographies should run during the idle times of the game or maybe in between matches instead of going to the Necropolis center to uncover the characters’ stories and background. And after a display of the character biography they could show a short demonstration of gameplay against an opponent and fully showcase some of their combos, techniques and specialty moves to the video game player. That way you can get a showcase of what the characters are capable of and learn how to immulate those various moves, combos, air-juggles and techniques. Also I think the biography should showcase the fighter in digitized motion capture sequencing executing a series of forms like they do in martial arts tournaments or in dojos for an advancement to a higher belt and then they could do a freeze frame on the character in a stance or form at the end of the sequencing. It can be just like the display from MK1 with the character’s story being displayed below their motion captured shot in a narrative. I think this would be more visually stimulating for video game players in learning about their character than to see them just rotate around in a circle like a store mannequin mounted in the windows for visual display at a retail store.

- It would be also cool to where you could either add a feature or unlock a feature to add your own background music to the game as you fight and play. It could be options to where you could download or in some way incorporate your favorite music to the game. In the options menu, you would have the default musical soundtrack and then an option to customize your own music in to the gaming format, specific to each stage or arena as the instrumental of the song. I think it would be better to incorporate the instrumental because the lyrics would be too distracting to the sound effects and the announcer but it could be up the video game player.

- I also think they should retain the other gaming features such as “King of the Hill” where you can challenge people across the world with online gameplay without the lag and buffering issues. There could be an option where you can record matches and post the series of matches on the internet and start episodes with the gaming series. You can also invite others to spectate on the match and give the respect points or something to that effect. In this mode you can also open dialogue boxes with characters if they want to talk trash or brag about your superiority in the game.

- I also think that when concerning the realism of administered hits and physical blows to opponents, only potent and powerfully motioned hits should send an opponent airborne in the sky. For example I think it would be a more realistic depiction if uppercuts, flying kicks, specific specialty moves, and drawn out combos from your opponent or basically power based moves should knock your opponents airborne in the sky. Simple high and low punches, high and low kicks and shorthanded combos should cause your opponent to stumble backwards unless your opponent is air bound when motioning in those low based hits. I think this should be especially true against oversized opponents such as Goro, Kintaro and Shao Kahn. Especially with Goro and Kintaro I think the standardized moves with the exception of flying kicks, long drawn out combos and specifically potent specialty moves, should only cause them to stumble back a bit. I think this could also potentially create a new dynamic and way of having to fight the boss characters as well as forcing video game players to change up their strategy against a more difficult boss or sub-boss opponent in terms of combos, air juggles and techniques.

- Another option I would like to see would be after the “Choose Your Fighter” screen appears and one has chosen their fighter, the camera can cut to the “Choose Your Battlegrounds” and a lateral roll of pictures showcasing the stage or arena can be shown on display for the video game player to choose either to their liking or randomly. I think this would be the case for Versus Matchups against the computer or with other people such as friends or associates with online matchups. I also think that they can also create a “Choose Your Destiny” screen in which a lateral roll of pictures of the different level of “Battle Plans” stroll by like a slot machine in a casino except it would be lateral and there would also be a display of the levels of difficulty on those “Battle Plan” pictures with a multi-colored background and pieces of the arcade ladder in the background of the picture displays with a middle text such as Very Easy, Easy, Medium, Hard, Very Hard, Veteran, Expert, Mogul, Master and Divine.

- Another cool nit bit could be that between traditional or historically rival characters, there could be more extensive dialogue traded between themselves like trash talk. So for example, if during the climb up the arcade ladder you happen to encounter Kano when playing as Sonya Blade, Jax or Stryker there could be a longer series of dialogue traded amongst them since I would suppose that they have a history amongst themselves. There could be some type of humorous dialogue spoken of, as long as it’s not too corny or cartoonish. I wouldn’t want any script that would be reminiscent of the early Batman Movie dialogues. I think this feature can also be applied extensively in Story Mode as well to help communicate the backstory of the characters like the movies do with the introduction of their characters.

- I also would like to see that Shang Tsung for the next Mortal Kombat Tournament would have a special Legion of Assassin Fighters called the “Divine Nine”. And these characters would be especially hard to defeat because of their super natural fighting abilities. They could appear in the upper echelon levels of difficulty in the arcade ladder modes such as in the Veteran, Expert, Mogul, Master and Divine Levels. And in those arcade ladders, you would have them appear right after the “Survival Matches” or the third “Endurance Match”. The characters could be Poison Ivy, Black Widow, Monolith, Diabolique, Lady Kira, Kai, Zhi Li Hong, Cuchillo and Sarindebo to head up the Legion of Assassins. With the Veteran Level you would face one Assassin in a single one-on-one match. on the Expert level you would face two single one-on-one matches against select Assassins. On the Mogul level you would face three Assassins in three consecutive one-on-one matches. On the Master level you would face three consecutive tag team matches with six of the Assassins. And finally on the Divine level, you would have to take on three endurance matches and a "Survival Match" with the remaining three assassins. They could also be unlockable fighters within the game through a series of hidden button combinations or through completion of another gaming mode. I think this would also create a new dynamic for the game but also have a means of new characters with their own unique flair, fighting styles, backstories and biographies. There could also be a series of hidden characters that could show up throughout certain parts of your climb up the arcade ladder reminiscent of Reptile in MK1 and Jade & Smoke in MK2.

- Another thing I’ve noticed is that when a character gets hit with a knockout blow they pop back up on their feet and motion in standing position dazed and confused. I think that would be somewhat unrealistic in terms of a fight. It would be a better depiction if the opponent, after a final hit is administered, they stumbled back into a state of disorient. I know in some of these scenarios this would be hard to display especially if the final hit is an aerial juggle or air bound hit, and in those cases I think the opponent popping back on their feet would be feasible. But then if the opponent is foot bound, I think that it would be better no matter how potent or powerful the final blow is the opponent’s reaction would be for them to stagger back as if they were drunk or stumble in a state of disorient. This way it would be more conceivable that their opponent is really on their last leg of energy before a fatality is performed on them. I think there should be a default programmed into the game that prevents the opponent from falling down to the pavement on a foot bound final blow and only in aerial final blows would the opponent pop back on their feet.

- Another minor detail I’ve noticed is various fighters have varying teleports in their X-Ray Moves. I think there should be some consistency in the look of the characters specialty moves and there X-Ray moves. So for example, Scorpion’s signature teleport is visually presented with him leaving an imprint behind while in his X-Ray he descends down into the flames of hell I assume. I think in his X-Ray Move he should teleport in the fashion that he teleports in his specialty moves by leaving an imprint behind instead of him descending down into flames. Maybe a visual indication of him executing his X-Ray move could be that the imprint has a flare of fire fanning from it as he motions into his X-Ray. I think the same theory can be said with Kitana as well. She doesn’t even have a teleport move in her move set yet she teleports in her X-Ray move. It would only seem logical if she teleports in her X-Ray why not during her normal move set. I think that aspect of her X-Ray move should be adjusted to where she doesn’t teleport.

- I think Mortal Kombat should retain the font style from MK9 and the overall Asian themed graphics and visual displays throughout the game. They look crisp and clean and more contemporary with their displays.

- Another thing that I noticed is in Shao Kahn’s Arena stage that they display his throne on ground level with random characters locked in chains on ground level. This doesn’t really reflect the historical presentation of how coliseums were built back in ancient times and it looks awkward. I think it would be a better approach if they just presented Shao Kahn in the rafters in a high chair amongst a sectioned off area amongst the crowd and spectators. It could look similar to the arena in the movie “Gladiator” or Trojan Castle in the movie “Troy”. I’d also like to see the “Warrior Shrine” arena revamped showcasing all the cast members of the original MK characters in statues such as Johnny Cage, Kano, Raiden, Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Goro and Shang Tsung being in the center of the arena in their winning poses. It can serve as kind of a dedication to the original cast who upstarted and made the Mortal Kombat franchise popular.

- I think it would cool that if video game players who are new to the Mortal Kombat franchise want to "learn their characters on their own with a friend" so to speak. They should be able to do so only through either the "Vs. Mode" or maybe "Story Mode" & "Adventure/Konquest Mode". This way you force people to learn the basics of how to effectively ultilize the characters they play with in the video game.

- I also think that maybe a cool idea for an intro reel to the game if the theme is going to be a theme captured as "Fire & Ice" with Scorpion & Sub-Zero as the leading characters of this series. I would display highly graphic shots from head to toe of first Scorpion executing a series of martial arts forms in a fiery and brimstone like background in his Klassic ninja palette swap costume from MK1. And throughout his martial arts form, the camera can cut in and out to random footage of him executing a series of combos, brand new moves, air-juggles or techniques against an opponent alternating the shots of him performing martial arts forms and his gameplay footage. Then following Scorpion's feature would be Sub-Zero highly graphic showcase from head to toe of him performing a series of martial arts forms in a frigid and blistering cold like backdrop in his Klassic ninja palette swap costume from MK1. And like Scorpion, throughout his martial arts form, the camera can cut in and out to random footage of him executing a series of combos, brand new moves, air-juggles or techniques against an opponent alternating shots of him performing martial arts forms and his actual gameplay footage. And then finally the camera could cut to a full shot from head to toe of both Scorpion & Sub-Zero on a split screen performing a series of martial arts forms with the splitting line disappearing towards the end of their forms. And the camera shot could end with both Scorpion & Sub-Zero executing their signature moves towards the camera with Scorpion throwing his harpoon yelling with conviction "Get Over Here!" and Sub-Zero throwing ice towards the camera yelling "Gobeya!" with Scorpion on the right side of the screen and Sub-Zero on the left side of screen. And then the camera can cut to a shot of MK Logo on the screen prominent and centered appearing first in a flash of fire with it then fusing out into a frozen ice covering that quickly melts away into the MK Logo front and center with the title of the game as "Mortal Kombat X" or "Ulimate MK9".

- Another cool adjustment that could made is in "Tag Team Mode" where if a tag-in partner has a portion of the their energy bar depleted, they could tag-out of the match momentarily and recover while the tag-in partner fights. So for example if Scorpion were fighting Sub-Zero and have his energy bar depleted half way, he could tag-out of the match and recover a portion of his energy bar back while his tag-in partner fights Sub-Zero, then he could tag back in the match with a recovered portion of energy from his life bar. This would provide a longer lasting series of gameplays while making for a more challenging means of defeating your opposition.

Most of these ideas are pretty well thought out. I'm only not too found of a character having the possibility to lose his weapon and being able to focus on taking it back on one on one fights.

Your ideas for the Konquest/Storymode in which you would meet characters to help you uncover clues or have them take your side after you defeated them are awesome!

And about that character learning stuff, again, i'm against forcing a particular character into the player so i will be happy with these modes when i'm free to choose weither i learn a character or not. Before i get bored with the storymode i would love to have a couple characters left that i didn't bother trying before.

For the rest, you have pretty cool ideas dude.

I put out some tweets to engage with some readers about the ideas on this forum. I just hope that Ed Boon, NetherRealm Studios and WB Games Entertainment see these ideas and get a stroke of creativity!!
