I think a cool new side project they could do is have all the characters from the first MK all in another game, but it would have all the same characters, battle grounds, outfits, etc. as the first one, but with a whole new look and style, similar to the more recent MK titles like Deception and Deadly Alliance. So each contestant would have all their old school outfits and stuff like that, but with their own two styles and weapon. See below if you don't get it..

Begining Roster:

Lui Kang
Scorpion
Sub-Zero
Raiden
Kano
Sonya
Johnny Cage

Bosses(All Unlockable):
Goro
Old Shang Tsung
Shao Kahn

Secret(All Unlockable):
Reptile
Ermac

Bonus Unlockables(Characters that were there, but not in the game):
Smoke
Kintaro
Kung Lao
Motaro
Rain

That's my idea, diss if you don't like, praise if you like it. Yay.

I would love an Mk1 remake. It would be so cool, but I wouldn't go into MKII because I would like a separate MKII remake

I think it's been discussed before... I suggested it many many times. But anyway, that would be cool. Maybe a whole bunch of new characters, like the guys that never made it through the tournament. There were more than just the main characters that made it to the future games, right?

Shaolin Monks is already on that territory on remaking the original Mortal Kombat but as an adventure game. I think that remaking Mortal Kombat 1 as a fighting game is stepping on sacred ground. Mortal Kombat 1 is a classic and a remake on that is well kind of repetitive, many games now are doing remakes and may have positive results such as the Resident Evil series. But I feel that Mortal Kombat is not ready for a remake as of yet, perhaps when the next generation consoles are out the game could focus on a remake of the original and flex the graphical muscles of the new consoles.

All the ideas of the wear and tear could be implemented, life like faces and bodies, it would be a huge culture shock if that happens and in other ways would be like a repeat in history just like how Mortal Kombat shocked the general audience when the game first came out. If the game was made now, I feel it would not have any uniqueness to it at all. It would just be a port of Deception but told in Mortal Kombat 1's storyline and such.

I'd rather have a mk4 remake, and fix that game.

I think that would be raw having a remake of the original mk redone with the original characters with the two fighting styles and weapons and it would be good for people who are just getting into mk

That'd be cool. If they do make it, the roster should be:

Default:
Liu Kang
Sonya
Johnny Cage
Raiden
Kano
Scorpion
Sub-Zero

Unlockable:
Ermac
Reptile
Kenshi (Remember MKD Konquest?)

Bosses:
Goro
Shang Tsung

SU:
Kung Lao (The old one who was killed by Goro)
Baraka (He was destroying the temple during MK1, why not?)
Bo Rai Cho (He trained Liu Kang shortly before numbnuts)

I think an MK1 remake is an interesting idea. I'd like to see them try it, but hopefully not rewriting too much of MK's established history. I'd also like to see new backgrounds around Shang Tsung's island, keeping the Oriental theme of the early MKs.

Characters.

Johnny Cage, Raiden, Kano, Sonya, Scorpion, Older Sub Zero and Liu Kang. Obviously the original seven playable fighters would have to be there, or there'd be no point in an MK1 remake.

Goro- Again, the original sub boss. Could maybe be unlockable.

Shang Tsung- As an old man, WITH the morphs. He has to have these, and I think because of this, he should be unplayable.

Reptile- Secret unlockable character. But this time not as a pallete swap, and with his own moves. I love the MKSM version of him.

Tassia- Female Black Dragon member, who appears in MKSF. She was a ninja with katanas and bombs. Probably MKSF's best newcomer.

God of Fire- Remember MK1 Raiden, how he just wanted to prove Gods were superior to humans? Keep Raiden in his more familiar mentor role and make this guy the crazy god. Potential rivalry for Raiden too.

Jake- Sonya's partner in John Tobias's MK1 comic. He looked like Rambo, and was part of the team taken hostage. Perhaps instead have Kano kill him in the tournament to increase the Sonya/Kano rivalry.

Rokuro- Unused MK1 concept character. He looked like Conan, and was supposed to be a Japanese demon. I think the playable MK1 cast needed a big, muscle character.

Kenshi- Should be a secret, unlockable character due to MKD Konquest, where he tried and failed to get to Shang's island.

Sareena- She was around in MKM before the tournament and helped Older Sub Zero. I'd like to see this character developed further, and an MK1 remake could be a good place to begin.

Kung Lao- MKSM now tells us that Kung Lao was on Shang's island during or after the tournament. He should be a hidden unlockable character because of this.

One of Shang's island guards- Remember the guys with spears in the backgrounds. I think one of those, perhaps a higher ranking captain would make a good playable fighter. Shang needs another henchman or two.

they should make it as a side to another mk game and they should introduce characters that fough in mk tournaments before mk1 like they should explain what happened to the original kung lao noob saibot should also be in they also with fujin who they have totaly forgotten about i also think that they should make an mk:gods game with raiden fujin shinnok and other gods and explain their stories i htink that would be sweet

I think they should have the Noob Saibot form of the older Sub-Zero in it also. For Noob's ending it should how he got turned into a wraith by Shinnok.

to be honest i would like a mk1 remake but to tell the truth it would not be a true remake if you added all the future characters...yes they were there but they were behind the scenes.

1. Kenshi-keep him out the game...he didnt make it to the island so keep him off the island in a remake

2. bo rai cho- trained liu kang but thats all. keep him out....if yo u want some reference then put him in liu's bio saying he trained him.

3. noob saibot- keep him out. cant be in the game if sub-zero didnt die yet (that also if noob/smokes Deception ending is even canon at all.)

4. Shao Khan- keep him out because it would throw off the whole storyline since his main entrance begins in MKII

5. everyone else get out and leave the original 7 plus goro, shang, reptile and maybe ermac as a SU since the error macro led to his creation.

i mean be honest if you all want to add people then it wouldnt be a true remake. i mean if you want to really push the button the you could say that jax should be in there too. Because Jax was originally supposed to be in MK1 and his name was Kurtis Stryker but they decided to pull him out and place him in MK2 as Jax and create kurtis stryker in MK3....look it up if you didnt know that. So you see going on this road would just give everyone a reason to add someone and beore you know it there would be like 14 people in a MK1 remake....

lol keep it simple...7 originals, goro, shang, reptile and maybe ermac + fighting styles and the bells and whistles.

You have a point, but I don't think anybody these days would look twice at a fighting game with a nine/ten character cast, no matter how good the rest of it is. This was one of SF3's biggest complaints, even though the gameplay is excellent. Plus, if you're gonna remake something, you might as well build on and improve it, and just because these characters weren't in the game, there were other fighters besides the main characters involved in MK1 (wouldn't be much of a tournament otherwise). I do agree with your points about why Shao Kahn, Bo Rai Cho and Noob shouldn't make it though.
