Hey, this is some really good stuff, this would really be the best way for MK to turn out, and I can't wait to see what you guys have planned for Kung Lao, Kenshi, Rain and Reiko! I especially liked the character Mercurus, I got a good idea of how he would be like and it would be awesome if you came up with an awesome ending for him, and I loved how you gave Scorpion and Sub-Zero a purpose to be in the game again...
keep up the good work guys!

Awesome, just awesome.

The amount of effort you guys put into this. It’s interesting all the way around.

For a while now, I’ve been in the process of making one of these myself, I hope it’s half as good as yours.

I'm glad you liked it a lot. Be sure to stay tuned for more. smile We do have an ending idea intended for Mercurus, and hopefully that'll work out.

It's good to know that our work is appreciated. Good luck with the story that you're working on. I'd like to see what you have in store when the time comes.

You're really going to have to give some specific details. Explain how it doesn't feel like MK to you. What do you like about this project aside from the effort we put into it? Aside from your feeling about it not having that MK feel, what else do you dislike about it? Do you have any suggestions to possibly make our project better? If so, what are they?

The mood of the game seems dull and it seem like you are throwing the new characters at us, like we are supposed to know who they are, or at least that's how it felt with Elena.

Maybe it's because we're slowly building the story up and not revealing so much right away that you feel that things seem dull. As for throwing new characters at you guys and making you expect to know who they are, that's simply not true. The bios of the new characters are meant to introduce them to the readers to give them an idea of who they are.

Sure, some characters are more/less revealing than others, but even so, I don't understand where you're coming from with that. If and when we get to a sequel and bring some of these characters back, then we will write the bios in a way that moves their stories forward, since the bios for this story have already established them.

This doesn't have to be in the fan submission forum. It's fine where it is now. Anyway, if you have any more questions, concerns, and/or suggestions, please share them with us.

The only thing that doesn't feel like MK to be is the overall story.

What is the overall story?

I really would have liked the boss to have been established from the start, as well as the main good vs. evil storyline.

To me, it just feels like a number of bios presented, but with no main plot tieing them all together. It gives it a very random feel without a sense of a forward direction going on.

Anyway, when is the next set of bios and characters coming?

The main story was something I wanted to bring up in the intro, and I argued with Paragon about this back then. However, we ultimately decided to go with a more SC style intro to not give away too much. Thankfully, Paragon realized the mistake, and we plan to rectify that by giving an idea of what the main story is. That will be the next thing we release before we get the bios of the unlockable characters. Right now, I may add more to the main story bits. Once we sort that out and a couple of other things, we'll be ready to continue with the project.

Yes, you've said before that the mood of the game is dull and boring, but you STILL fail to explain yourself. Also, the point you made about the characters is illogical and invalid. Like I said, if you have any more questions, concerns, or suggestions, then post them. If you can't constructively criticize us, then don't bother posting in here again. So bottom line, use constructive criticism or don't post in this thread.

I stand by my descision on the intro, we did not want to give a vital part of the story away, now, thankfully, we have managed to come up with some way to reveal part of the story and the boss without spoiling the fun. We'll post that within the next few days. We'd do it now, but,. there are a few things we need to sort out to show as much of the story as we can, and its 4am here and i need sleep damn it, lol!

Due to the concerns about the intro not giving away the main plot, we've decided to come up with a bit of something that reveals what it is. It's something that has been mentioned in some of the bios and is meant to be the central story, even though there are other plots going on. Without further a due, we present an idea of the main story:

Welcome all participants. It's good to see you could make it here. I am Abaddon, and I hold this tournament to honor Mortal Kombat, pitting the warriors of the different realms against one other to see who is the best. I have selected the very best to take part though I see some of you have earned your way in through other means. No matter. Either way, I still hope to see good competition amongst all of you. The rules of the tournament are quite simple: defeat your opponent. If you quit, you are disqualified. If you are knocked out, you are disqualified. And if you die, of course, you are most certainly disqualified.

The tournament will be divided into 8 starting battles for the first round. After the starting elimination, we will progress to the quarterfinals. After the quarterfinals will be the semifinals and then the finals. Those who can fight their way up to top and can best me in Mortal Kombat will truly be deserving of my reward. I'm sure some of you are still unbelievers, but I truly do intend to reward the one who is worthy of it, may it be money, power, or anything else you desire.

With that said, may the best fighter be victorious, and let Mortal Kombat begin!!

-The words of Abaddon

Abaddon is a Demon Lord, more specifically, the Demon Lord of Wrath. He is a tall, menacing figure in his hooded robe. Very few have ever seen what he truly looks like...

Drake

Origin: Earthrealm

Alignment: Evil

Status: Martial Artist

Fighting Styles: Kajukenbo, Pradal Serey

Kajukenbo: Kajukenbo is a modern, hybrid, and eclectic fighting style developed in Hawaii in 1947 as a means of dealing with local crime and teaching self defense. It's name comes from the styles its derived from, which are (Ka)rate, (Ju)do/Jujutsu, (Ken)po, and (Bo)xing. This style has five founders, each of whom contributed their martial arts knowledge into its creation. The founders are Adriano Emperado (Kosho Ryu Kempo and Escrima), Peter Young Yil Choo (Tang Soo Do and Western Boxing), Joe Holck (Danzan Ryu Jujutsu), Frank Ordonez (Se Keino Ryu Judo), and Clarence Chang (Chinese martial arts).

The techniques of Kajukenbo consist of hard, fast strikes to vital areas, hand trapping methods, kicks, elbows, knees, joint-locks, throws, takedowns, and groundfighting methods. Practical self-defense methods are favored and emphasized while flashy and acrobatic movements are considered impractical and are not taught. In addition, Kajukenbo has an openness to it, encouraging the incorporation of techniques from other martial arts. We chose this style for Drake, because it's a practical and unsophistcated style with brutal techniques such as vital area strikes and attacks to the groin.

Pradal Serey: Translated as "free fighting", Pradal Serey is a traditional Cambodian martial art and the Cambodian equivalent to Muay Thai. This is one of the few different but similar Southeast Asian styles of Kickboxing, and it is believed that Pradal Serey predates Muay Thai. Technique-wise, from an initial glance, Pradal Serey looks identical to Muay Thai, using boxing type punches, shin kicks, a lot of elbow and knee strikes as well as the clinch.

However, there are some slight differences such as Pradal Serey's shifty movements and even greater emphasis on the use of elbow techniques. Pradal Serey was one of the many martial arts styles that Drake studied in his earlier days. We chose this style for Drake, because Pradal Serey is a very direct and brutal style, which captures his persona. Also, while Kajukenbo is a more well-rounded, modern style, Pradal Serey is more traditional style that focuses on kicks and strikes.

Special Moves

Dragon's Rage: Drake clenches his fists and draws them up above his hips, looking into the air and letting out a roar. As he does, he is surrounded by a red aura. This is a ‘power up’ move which increases the attack damage dealt by all of his attacks, lasting for a short period of time.

Disrupter Blast: Drake draws his arm back with his palm open. He then steps forward, swinging the arm forward, as it is in front of him, and he fires a large jet of flaming energy. This move has limited range thanks to the delay in the blast and won’t hit those who are at a long range as the blast itself only travels halfway across the screen.

Earth Shaker: Drake punches the ground with his gauntleted arm, causing a brief tremor, which has a ‘quake’ effect on the opponent.

Afterimage Strike: Drake charges forward at blinding speed, leaving faded images of himself following behind him. He delivers an open palm strike that hits mid and does a large knock back to the opponent. During this, he is immune to projectiles.

Counter Blast: This is a counter move, and if done at the right moment, Drake will counter the opponents move. The counter involves quickly stepping to the opponent's side and places his palm on his/her chest. He then swings his hip, causing him to push the opponent forward, releasing his Disrupter Blast at point blank range. This has a 3-D effect due to the way he moves to the side of the opponent and pushes/blasts them.

Throws

Machinegun Fist: Drake hooks his left arm around the opponent's arm then performs three quick punches with his right hand. He then pulls his arm back, and as the opponent looks up after recovering from the three shots, he lets go of the opponent's arm and delivers the last hard punch to the opponent's face, knocking him/her back and down.

Heartbreak: Drake lunges low then punches the opponent in the chest with his gauntleted arm. With his strength, he lifts him/her off the floor and holds them by his fist, he smirks he then lifts them up above his head with his arm then slams them down behind him, this move has a pop up effect. (This move was inspired by Bryan Fury’s move from the Tekken games.)

Overall Gameplay Style: Drake is a fast, powerful, and very aggressive fighter, playing more on offensive side and having powerful specials. His Kajukenbo style is more-well rounded while Pradal Serey is generally more of a linear style that usually focuses on a lot of strikes and kicks. Mainly because of his special moves, he is more of a character suited for intermediate players.

Mastery Level: 3

Fatalities

Great Wyrm Breath: Drake is surrounded by a red aura, which begins to form itself into a translucent half dragon. Within this, Drake laughs then breathes fire on the opponent. The opponent screams as they are being burnt then falls to the floor. Drake walks over and looks down at them then breathes fire on them again. The opponent gives out a weaker scream, which dies away quickly. The aura then fades away. Drake looks down at the opponent and laughs at what happened.

Heart Burst: Drake closes his eyes and looks as though he is having a bad dream. He quickly opens his eyes and screams before punching the opponent in the chest, piercing their ribcage. He then pulls out his hand, showing that he has taken out their heart as the opponent falls to the floor. Drake looks at it and begins to get mad. He then clenches his fist and squashes the opponents heart in his hand.

Costumes

Primary Costume: Drake's primary costume is based off of a concept drawing design done by Paragon. He wears blue jeans, a red t-shirt, and a black jacket. Drake has dirty blonde hair with red streaks and aqua blue eyes. Another concept drawing of Drake

Alternate Costume: His alternate costume has a biker/goth look to it, wearing leather trousers, a white tanktop and an open, short-sleeved, black t-shirt. He has black hair and aqua blue eyes.

Extra Costumes: none

Get Up Animation: Drake sits up, with his head down, thinking about how he just lost. He looks at his opponent, growls angrily, then does a kip up to get into his fighting stance.

Victory Pose: He stands there with his arms crossed. The camera zooms on his face and he smirks. As he does, his eyes go from human to reptilian, with a brief glow in-between. His eyes then return to normal.

Kombat Zone: Red Dragon Headquarters

Description: This was once the headquarters of one of the most powerful underworld organizations, the Red Dragon. After they had been wiped out by Caro, Daegon's guardian dragon, it lay abandoned for many months until one who had been here before began to use the place as a refuge. This being the only place he is safe, Drake managed to get the place up and running again thanks to the dragon blood within him.

Stage Traps: There are small red containers of explosives that are spread throughout the stage. They explode either when a player is knocked into one or when a projectile hits it.

Stage Fatality: The loser is knocked into a basement area inhabited by half-dragon hybrids that Taven didn't kill. He/she is jumped on by the hybrids and the screen goes to black with him/her screaming as he/she is torn to pieces.

Bio

I began training as a martial artist initially because as a child, people believed I was weak and I wanted to prove them wrong. Over time, that purpose changed. I went from wanting to be strong to proving my strength. I competed in many street fighting tournaments and I never lost one. My secret was that I could tap into the rage that drove me and become unstoppable. However, after one tournament, I was ambushed and captured, taken away from everyone I ever knew and cared for... Over the course of a year, I was experimented on by a clan called the Red Dragon. The men they experimented on all turned into half-dragon monsters, all except me. They were going to find out why before someone in armor tore through their base, allowing me to escape.

What is happening to me?!? My arm has become a scaled claw! To hide it, I am forced to cover it when I’m in public. I entered another tournament after escaping and not only did I win, but my last opponent was killed. Something in me snapped, and I went berserk, crushing his ribcage with one punch! Since that day, I have been a wanted felon. But you know something? I enjoyed it! I enjoyed causing pain and suffering on those pathetic fools! I'm not human anymore; I am much more then that now! Upon my return home from one of my outings, I was left an invitation to a tournament in another realm, stating that only the strongest are allowed to enter. Finally, I have a chance to use my powers to their fullest, finally... a chance to make people feel the pain I have endured all my life!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sub-Zero_7th: Drake is one of the characters that Paragon came up with. Originally called Draco, Paragon based this character off his looks and an aspect of his personality, somewhat like how I based Mercurus off of myself. As the bio indicates, Drake is a very skilled martial artist who finds himself becoming an experiment of the Red Dragon, which is a touch given to add more to that little story bit. The bio of course refers to Taven as being the one to free him. Unlike Mercurus, Drake embraces the darkness in him and wants to bring pain to others. In some ways, I'm sure some people will compare him to the likes of Kobra and maybe even Jarek. Thankfully Drake has more going for him than both of them.

Paragon: Drake was the first character I created for this project, well, more like had drawn up designs for a character long before this and decided to use them for this. At first, I didn’t know what to do with him or even why his name was what it was until I replayed through Armageddon and went through the Red Dragon HQ. I wanted to go a little more detail into the clan’s dealings with the dragon-hybrid experiment, like how they got their subjects. Many would have been taken a similar way to him.

Drake is one of the characters I based of an aspect of my personality, in his case, the inner rage and darkness that every human has brought to the surface and how he deals with it. In his case, he deals with it by trying to inflict pain and suffering on all around him. His styles were based of how I believed someone like him would fight, very unrefined, street fighting kind of character who although strong doesn’t use just brute strength, he is the kind of thuggish person you wouldn’t want to run into, one with a brain who knows how to fight and has no sort of moral code. His story is about how someone who is haunted by his own life tries to rebuild after everything was taken away from him, even his own humanity.

Androna

Origin: Earthrealm

Alignment: Evil

Status: Tekunin Cyborg

Fighting Styles: Tae Kwon Do, Pulse Axe

Tae Kwon Do: Tae Kwon Do (Foot and Hand Way/Way of Kicking and Punching) is a modern Korean martial art developed around 1955 by General Choi Hong Hi. This style was created through the fusion of 4 Korean martial arts styles based off of Shotokan, a Japanese style of Karate. Tae Kwon Do is one of the most popular styles of martial arts in the world, and it's known for specializing in various kicking techniques. It emphasizes speed, agility, fluidity, and flexibility.

There are two main branches of Tae Kwon Do, the ITF (International Tae Kwon Do Federation) founded by General Choi Hong Hi, and the WTF (World Tae Kwon Do Federation) which is more sport-oriented. Androna uses more of the ITF style Tae Kwon Do as it is combat-oriented as opposed to the sport-oriented WTF style. Her fighting stance is a narrow, mobile, boxing-like stance called Kyerugi Seogi. We chose Tae Kwon Do for Androna to give her a fast, linear, and dynamic style to her, using a lot of kicks and strikes with some joint-locks and throws.

Pulse Axe: The Pulse Axe is an axe developed by the techology of the Tekunin and used by some of its cybernetic warriors. Modeled after the Masakari, a Japanese axe used by the Yamabushi (Mountain Warriors), the Pulse Axe is around 47.2 inches/120 cm long, with a rectangular metal handle and the edge of the blade pulsing with energy. With the Pulse Axe, Androna wields it with both hands and uses it to chop and hack her opponents. The idea behind this weapon was to get away from the Pulse Blade and to give a weapon based off of something Japanese.

Special Moves

Matrix Uppercut: A move taught to the Tekunin by Sektor, Androna drops through the floor and performs a teleport uppercut, launching the opponent into the air. This is very similar to Sektor's teleport uppercut, with it being a matrix of sort which she teleports though, only the numbers don’t jump out and bounce around.

Magnetic Field: Androna dispatches two small metallic disks, one from each arm. They both float into the air and swirl around her, creating a magnetic field that temporarily protects her from all sorts of attacks. As a downside to the move, she has to wait a little while in order to use it again.

Demi-Compression: The opponent's speed is halved due to the increase in gravity.

0-G: The opponent floats in the air, allowing Androna to get a free hit.

Demi-Shock: Androna clutches her chest as electricity starts running along the outside of her body. She then opens her abdomen compartment and fires a compressed ball of energy, which when it hits the opponent, has a crumple-stun effect due to the gravitational force put into it.

Throws

Thrusting Impact: Androna grabs the opponent and climbs on him/her by placing one foot on him/her. She then climbs up with the other leg and does a front thrust kick with it, sending the opponent far away.

Headscissors Toss: She jumps onto the opponent, legs around their head. She leans back, dangling down, then pulls her legs down, putting her hands on the floor to throw the opponent.

Overall Gameplay Style: Androna is a fast and powerful fighter that requires a lot of skill to properly master and use. While her styles are relatively easy to master, her powerful specials make her a more advanced fighter, because they are difficult to use. When mastered however, she can be quite formidable. Her Tae Kwon Do style will be very fast and linear, with a lot of longer-ranged moves while her Pulse Axe will be more powerful but closer to the middle in terms of its range and fluidity.

Mastery Level: 4

Fatalities

Dark Vortex: Androna creates a small black hole that sucks the opponent in.

Encasing: Androna encases the opponent in a metallic sphere and closes it in on them. When it gets too small for the opponent to fit in, he/she begins to get crushed.

Costumes

Primary Costume: Her primary costume will be a more 'figure hugging' costume, as not much extra metallic armourments are attached. She is in a full-bodied cybersuit of sorts, with the metallic armourments on her chest, covering from neck to abdomen, the waist and groin, forearms and shins. The abdomen has a compartment built in, and on her back is a built-in jetpack, while her wrist armourments also have firing capabilities. Strangely enough, her helmet design will be much different from the likes of the other Tekunin, having more of a Robocop-esque feel with the visor but also showing her hair, which is blonde. Like others in the Tekunin, her helmet has a stripe going up the middle between the eyes to the top of her head. Androna's primary costume mainly has a greyish-green color scheme to give a metallic feel. The more minor are black and a bit of white, which are used in areas much like those with the other Tekunin. Her primary costume is meant to draw a bit of inspiration from I-Robot and a character from Thundercats named Mandora, who looks like this.

Alternate Costume: Androna's alternate costume is closer to more of that standard Tekunin look, with the main color schemes of red and black. Her helmet will be similar to Sektor's standard helmet except more rounded and with red on top and black for the face and mask. Like her primary costume, her alternate costume is rather sleek and is somewhat similar in design to the standard Tekunin cyborg look. She does have Samurai-esque armor pads for her upper arms and legs while still retaining the abdomen compartment and built-in jetpack.

Extra Costumes: none

Get Up Animation: Lowering the gravity around herself, Androna floats into the air and gets back down, similar to Sektor's MKA get up animation.

Victory Pose: Androna lowers the gravity, floating into the air, with her arms out like in Cyrax's victory pose, but then goes into Sektor's MK3 pose.

Kombat Zone: Tekunin HQ

Description: The Tekunin Headquarters is located in Earthrealm. This stage particularly takes place in the control room, where there are Tekunin cyborgs working with some computers. Sektor is shown on a huge monitor, giving orders to his clan even in death.

Stage Traps: The character can be knocked into the huge monitor, where he/she will be quickly shocked.

Stage Fatality: none

Bio

I am one of the top assassins in the Tekunin, a cybernetic army led by our master, Sektor. He marched into battle in order to gain ultimate power, but he failed in his mission. However, he had a back-up plan in which he downloaded a copy of his consciousness and memories into the Tekunin’s main computer. Upon his apparent destruction, he appeared on the main monitor and informed everyone that his counterpart, Cyrax self-destructed, killing them both. This was before my creation, I was downloaded with this information for my mission. He ordered me to recover parts of his body so that we could rebuild it anew and more powerful then before. I was given a wrist communicator in order for Sektor to relay orders to me. I was then sent to Edenia to find his body.

Upon arriving in Edenia, I found that Sektor's body was gone, along with that of Cyrax. This had no logic as their bodies would not have crumbled away, not with their technology. The cybernetics would have least remained. But it was then I detected something faint, a life sign Sektor identified immediately, it was someone he thought was dead. Since I could not find either body, I then began my search for this familiar lifeisgn. On my search for him, I discovered a tournament taking place nearby. I communicated with Sektor about it, and he ordered me to participate so that I may find him if he's there. If Sektor cannot have his original body, he shall have a new one!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sub-Zero_7th: If I remember correctly, Androna is a character that DNOMYTE came up with the concept for. She wasn't really a character concept that I was fond of, and although a bit of story was developed for her gradually, I still felt that she was really lackluster. However, we will do what we can to make the best out of her. Her looks were definitely quite a challenge as we wanted to show that feminine body shape but also capture the connection to the Tekunin without making her look like just a "female Sektor".

Her style choices were changed a lot, and she was originally going to have Boyevoye Sambo (Combat Sambo), but we ultimately decided to go with Tae Kwon Do to give her a fast, dynamic feel. Then we have her powers and abilities, which was also difficult to do, because like with the appearance, we didn't want to give that "female Sektor" vibe. Sometime much earlier, I had thought up of an idea about magnetism and gravity, and we gave her both kinds of abilities, making her quite different from Sektor. Overall, Paragon and DNOMYTE wanted to keep that connection to the Tekunin, even if their numbers are lower than before.

Paragon: Androna was initially a joint idea, all of us wanting a new cyborg to add to the story. We wanted one not made by the Lin Kuei, to add a little depth into the Tekunin, as not much had been explained about them, like how Sektor chooses who is to become one of his warriors and such. Since Sektor, physically, is dead however, it was going to be challenging to do this. I believe it was my idea for Sektor to have had the failsafe plan mentioned in the bio.

We wanted her to be different from other Tekunin warriors, so we decided to give her magnetic and gravitational powers built into her being as well as just being a hard ass fighter. Androna's story is that she is basically a mindless puppet of the Tekunin and Sektor, her past life lost to her. She is currently seeking out someone Sektor recognizes from their life signal to capture that person so he can use his body for himself to gain a physical presence once again. Androna is basically his way of making sure things outside the HQ are going as he wishes. Even in death, Sektor is still one of the thorns in the side of the heroes.
Story
This is what MK was about. And I like it! A simple, fight-or-die brawl.

Drake
Had a feeling he was a dragon in the intro. But a Red Dragon, woohoo... Total turnout of coolness!

Androna
At last, a female cyborg. And a Tekunin with gravity control. Pure genius. You guys rule. All I'd like now is someone who knows Capoiera and all my dreams will be complete.

well, like all previous Mortal Kombat tournoments, there is always something more to it, but, essentially, yes. As for what it is that is behind the tournoment, will be revealed in due time. We just thought that knowing of the tournoment and its founder isnt going to hurt the overall suprise.

Drake is one a fighter the Red Dragon kidnapped in order to experiment on him. He ended up being special, as he didnt turn into a hald dragon/lizard beast. However, his new-found abilities, as well as the increases to his prior strengths come from this experimentation, as does his clawed arm. Cooless was one of the things i was aiming for in his creation, so thanks for the compliment glasses

At last, a fan who wants a female cyborg! Sub_Zero-7th and some others who have read our project on other sites were not fond of her. However, i found her unique and her story interesting.

As for Capoiera.... well, we'll see wink

Well readers, here is the next bio:

Reiko

Origin: Outworld

Alignment: Evil

Status: Emperor of Outworld

Fighting Styles: Sanhuang Paochui, Yuejia Quan

Sanhuang Paochui: Sanhuang Paochui (often translated as "Three Emperor Cannon Fist" but also translated as "Three Star Cannon Fist") is a traditional Northern Chinese martial art known for its powerful techniques said to be like blasts of firing cannonballs. Its origins are somewhat obscure as they are attributed to the Three August Ones (Fuxi, Shennong, and Gonggong) who were the three legendary emperors of prehistoric China. However, Sanhuang Paochui can be traced back to the monk known as Pu Zhao, who apparently learned the style from a Taoist priest. Pu Zhao taught Qiao Sanxiu and Gan Fengchi the style of Pao Chui after mastering it. While Qiao Sanxiu was taught to temper softness through hardness, creating a more external style, Gan Fengchi was taught to temper hardness through softness, creating a more internal style.

The Qiao Sanxiu style lived on and split into the Song and Yu branches while the Gan Fengchi style died out. The Song style contains techniques from various other Chinese martial arts while Yu style sticks to the original style. Pao Chui is based on the theories of the positive and negative, hard and supple, substantial and insubstantial, attack and defence, as well as advance and retreat. Cannon Fist uses suppleness as its core and hardness as its application and requires its boxers to be consistent in both attack and defence.

According to Cannon Fist practicioners, attack is defense and advance is retreat, and vice versa while the positive and negative supplement each other. This style is greatly believed to be one of the inspirations behind Chen style Taijiquan since it contains a routine from Sanhuang Paochui. Reiko uses the Qiao Sanxiu style of Sanhuang Paochui, which initially focuses more on the external aspects. Overall, Sanhuang Paochui is a well-rounded style with powerful and fluid movements, and we chose it for Reiko, because part of the translated name had "emperor" in it and it's a powerful and sophisticated style.

Yuejia Quan: Yuejia Quan (Yue family Fist) is one of the many Chinese martial arts attributed to Yue Fei (also known as Ngok Fei), a famous Chinese general from the Song Dynasty (960 C.E.-1279 C.E.). This is a highly combat-oriented and militaristic style of Kung Fu that greatly favors simplicity and directness. Yuejia Quan is primarilly more of a close-quarters style that uses a lot of grappling and throwing methods as well as kicks and strikes with the fist and open hand. We chose this style for Reiko, because it's a simple, direct, and militaristic style, showing more of that general feel and acting as somewhat of a contrast to his Sanhuang Paochui style.

Special Moves

Shuriken Throw: This is Reiko’s projectile, but unlike the MKA version, this will work at full screen distance.

Imperial Shadows: This is Reikos MKA teleport throw, but the throw will be optional like in MK4. You have to press one of the throw buttons before he reappears to do the throw. His throw is his back suplex from MKA.

Shadow Hammer: Using his limited knowledge of black magic taught to him by the Shadow Priests, Reiko summons a hammer made of energy and does a high-hitting overhead smash. This move is unblockable and comes out quite quickly. However, it has no tracking, so it can be sidestepped as well as ducked.

Devastating Flip Kick: This is Reiko's flip kick move, a linear, mid-hitting, pop up special.

Charging Thrust Kick: Reiko takes a step forward and performs a hard thrust kick, his foot surrounded with dark energy. This move is a replacement of his charging shoulder, since we want to distance him from Shao Kahn a little more, but it has the same effects, just different animation. Also, unlike his previous charging move, this one hits mid.

Throws

Flipping Strikes: This is Reiko's MKA throw. He grabs the opponent with one hand, bashes him/her, popping him/her high into the air. He then runs forward and flips into the air in a curve, doing a kick to the opponent, which knocks him/her down.

Thrust Crush: Reiko grabs the opponent by both wrists, lifts his leg up, pulls it back, then thrust kicks the opponent in the chest as he lets go of their wrists.

Overall Gameplay Style: Reiko is a very well-rounded character that's suited for intermediate players. His Sanhuang Paochui style is a bit more advanced and well-rounded than his Yuejia Quan style. His special moves have a nice variety to them, giving him aid in the different ranges.

Mastery Level: 3

Fatalities

Shuriken Flurry: Reiko performs Noob Saibot's MK: D fatality but does a different victory pose at the end.

Deadly Thrust Kick: Reiko delivers two punches to the abdomen then a punch to the face of the opponent. The opponent moves back and turns away, holding their face. Reiko laughs and glows with dark energy. As the opponent turns to face him again, he performs a very quick thrust kick, severing the opponent's torso from the waist up. The legs fall to the ground as the upper body is shot back. Reiko then does his MK4 finishing pose.

Costumes

Primary Costume: Reiko's primary costume is his Outworld Emperor look. Modified from his MKA primary look, he wears the same chestpiece, pants, and boots as he did before. His hair is grown a bit with the sides short and the top longer. His shoulder guards are spiked like Shao Kahn's and his tasset is modified by having the kanji for "emperor" on it. Reiko wears a sleeveless jacket-like cape that has two maroon colored stripes going down the front with three kanji going down them, the same on both stripes. The three kanji are for the words "fear", "respect", and "power". The front part of the jacket cape goes down to his waist while the back part covers his whole back and goes down a bit past his waist. Lastly, he wears wrist-length gloves with spiked arm guards.

Alternate Costume: Reiko's alternate costume is his MK4 look, including the Brotherhood of the Shadow insignia. This look is meant to be a throw-back to his older look.

Extra Costumes: none

Get Up Animation: His get up animation is the one from MKA where he does the spinning kicks to get back standing and into his fighting stance.

Victory Pose: Reiko puts his hands on his hips like in Shao Kahn's victory pose. However, instead of laughing and gloating like Shao Kahn does, Reiko looks down at the fallen opponent and scowly glares at him/her.

Kombat Zone: Reiko's Throne Room

Description: This is the throne room of the Imperial Castle of Outworld. Formely Shao Kahn's domain, Reiko quickly took over as Emperor of Outworld, making the fortress his.

Stage Traps: The edges of the throne room are covered by an energy barrier created by the Shadow Priests. Whoever comes into contact with the barrier is harmed.

Stage Fatality: The loser falls into a trap door and lands on spikes.

Bio

I marched side by side with my Emperor, Shao Kahn. He told me to lead his allies into battle, and he would join in when the battle began. I charged forward and attacked the first person I saw, Li Mei, a girl I once trained in the past, and focused on her. I beat her within an inch of her life and was about to kill her when Bo’ Rai Cho took the blow. Satisfied, I turned around and ran to help my emperor, but was stopped by Fujin, who got in my way. Because of his interruption, I was unable to help my emperor as he fell. I hid after Blaze had been vanquished, knowing the Forces of Light wouldn’t hesitate to kill me, and I waited until they left before checking on Shao Kahn. He was still breathing! I began to help him when I realized the situation. Taking my hammer, I laid down the final blow on Shao Kahn, ending his reign as Emperor... and starting mine!

Upon my return, I backed up my claim that the Emperor had fallen by showing them his helmet and that I am to claim the title as Emperor of Outworld. I quickly named my new generals and solidified my position as Emperor. Those who objected were put to death. I only placed trust in my most loyal of men, particularly, the behemoth Abraxis, who serves as my personal bodyguard. However, there is a thorn in my side... Li Mei has started a resistance to usurp me. But my Shadow Priests have informed me that they sense a dark taint in her soul, which is intriguing. I sent a slave girl from Earthrealm to lure Li Mei away from her entourage so that Abraxis may capture her. From then, I will have the Shadow Priests work their magic and soon, I shall have a queen!

Sub-Zero_7th: Reiko is one of Paragon's favorite characters and someone that he really wanted to bring back. Personally, I kind of like Reiko, and I sort of see potential in him. There was a dilemma with how we were going to handle him. Given his affiliation with Shao Kahn and secret desire for obtaining power, we ultimately decided to make Reiko the new Emperor of Outworld and wanted to make sure there were both similarities and differences between him and Shao Kahn.

One thing we wanted to avoid doing was to make him a Shao Kahn clone, so we did what we could to make him as different as possible, from the styles and special moves to his looks and personality. Like Shao Kahn, Reiko's rule of Outworld is rather militaristic, and he has a main opposition in the form of Li Mei and the Outworld Resistance. His desire to have Li Mei at his side is for a few reasons. She's an attractive young woman and skilled fighter who has an evil taint inside her. He wants to exploit this darkness and get her to his side so that his influence will be greater, forcing the Resistance to either surrender themselves to him or be destroyed.

Paragon: Reiko was one of the first lot of characters I wanted back in for these installments. Like Ermac, he is a favorite of mine and believed he had much to offer. Reiko is an enigma, so not much is known about him, his history, his personality, and his other desires other than power. I came up with the idea of him replacing Shao Kahn as emperor mainly because although he shares some similar qualities as his former master, he has some differences which can be used. He won't be as overconfident and arrogant as Shao Kahn, letting his power go to his head.

He is a very down-to-earth and brutal character, and I wanted to show how Outworld would be like if ruled in that way. The way Reiko runs Outworld is slightly different to Shao Kahn, since Kahn relied on his strength and will to oppress those under him. Although Reiko is a grim and menacing person, he is no Shao Kahn. Instead, he runs Outworld using the respect he has earned from his men, and Outworld is basically a military-controlled power in the universe. This makes his assassination even harder, because the army won't follow another leader so readily as they do Reiko. Right now, he is looking for a queen, and all I can say to that is... he is a man. What do all men think of?
Ah, so evilly painful. Reiko finally is emporor, and actually does something to get it. Making him look like Kahn was a smart move. Lastly, i'm intrigued at what focus he has on Li Mei. Being that her bio already stated what they knew, I'm glad that you kept Onaga's corruption.

i just felt it was Reikos time. Kahn has been in power for a long time and, really, there isnt much else we can do with his character. Reiko has a lot about him which is unknown and we wanted to try and show that. But we didnt want him to have the same old story. So, now he got the sovegnty he wanted, whats next? Establishing his rule. The army follows him completely, which will be explained in depth with the next few characters wink, and he plans on crushing the ones who oppose him in his own realm before moving onto other realms.

The whole focus on Li Mie has a couple of reasons. He knows who she is because he was the one who taught her the flip kick they share, she is the leader of the resistance, the thorn in his side and the fact that there is something in her he can exploit and use for himself. We have interesting ideas on how the Outworld storyline is going to go, and half of it isnt even shown yet. But it will be... it will be...

The Intro - I think it's a little too standard. A tournament that wins you a prize isn't all that of a novel story for MK.

Drake - Quite interesting. I like everything about him except for his casual appearance. Even know he was a street fighter doesn't mean he can't have that fantasy design that kombatants tend to have. He's thing with being experimented on was especially cool.

Androna - I agree with BloodSplatter on this one. A female cyborg is a great idea and gravity powers are cool for her. As for her bio, I actually like it. Interesting twists going on their with Sektor and his deadness.

Reiko - I also think it's about time he gets what he wants. I always thought it would be interesting to have him succeed Shao Kahn, though I don't think it should stay that way for long. As for wanting to make Li Mei his queen - I'd imagine he'd have bigger fish to fry and bigger objectives than trying to get a girl.

Nice job, people.

Hey there. It's good to see more feedback from you. smile

About his overall design, well, I'll leave that one up to Paragon to sort out.

I'm glad you like Androna and her powers. Hopefully the ideas we have for her will pay off nicely somehow.

Regarding Reiko, like Paragon stated, Reiko is trying to establish his domain throughout all of Outworld, and with Li Mei and the Outworld Resistance, he's going to have to eliminate that threat. Because of Li Mei's dark taint and things like that, he wants to exploit it for his own gain. WIth success, the Resistance will likely crumble since Li Mei is its founder and leader. After Reiko establishes his domain, then he can move onto other things. We want to build up his story and build him up as a villain.

Without giving much away, there actually is something more going on with the tournament. It's not some kind of random prize but rather what the winner desires most. So if Scorpion wins, he gets peace and is reunited with his family. With that part of the story, you're just going to have to let it unfold to see just what we're doing.

I'm glad you liked these bios, and I hope you stay tuned for more. The next character will be released in due time.

Well, drakes appearance is based on my own, mostly. He is a typical 'street fighter' (no, not the game). As for something more fantasy, i did have an idea or two for him, but, fanatasy didnt seem to fit him, he is a very grim an menacing person, he is supposed to be, for lack of a better example, the personification of some of humanities worse traits and i wanted him to look the part.

Though a costume a little more game-like may be in the workswink

Thank you for your comment. And without further adeu... here is the next character!

Abraxis

Origin: Outworld

Alignment: Evil

Status: Outworld General

Fighting Styles: Pankration, Zweihänder

Pankration: Pankration is an ancient Greek combat sport that resembles the MMA (mixed martial arts) of today. The name is derived from the words Pan, meaning "all" and Kratos, meaning "power", so Pankration is style of all powers. Having a history that goes back over 2,500 years, it was first seen in the Olympic games around 648 B.C.E. and its origins are attributed to the demi-god Heracles (better known as Hercules), the half-god son of Zeus, and Theseus, a legendary king of Athens.

This style is extremely brutal and its techniques are of devastating brute strength, mainly combining Pygme/Pygmachia (Greek Boxing) with Pale (Greek Wrestling). In ancient times, victory was attainable through submission, forfeit of the opponent, unconsciousness, crippling, or even death. There were almost no restrictions aside from biting and gouging, but despite those restrictions, there were times in which some used biting and gouging methods anyway.

Pankration uses a lot of wrestling techinques but also makes use of striking and kicking techniques. It's techniques are said to be similar to those used in Boxing, Wrestling, Karate, and Jujutsu. Since Alexander the Great went to India many centuries ago and supposedly introduced Pankration to the Indian people, it is believed by some such as Mas Oyama, the founder of Kyokushin Karate, that Pankration had an influence in the development of Indian martial arts and that those Indian martial arts spread to countries such as China and Japan, forming styles like Kung Fu, Karate, and Jujutsu.

However, there isn't sufficient evidence to back up this belief, especially since pretty much all countries have had their own styles of martial arts or at least some fighting methods. There are two main types of Pankration, which are Kato Pankration and Ano Pankration. Kato Pankration advocates the use of continuing fights on the ground while Ano Pankration prefers standup fighting. There happens to be a Roman derivative of Pankration called Pancratium which is slightly toned down compared to its original version. Abraxis uses both aspects of Pankration but prefers Ano Pankration. We chose this style for Abraxis, because it symbolizes strength and brutality, which fits Abraxis' brutal nature.

Zweihänder: The Zweihänder (two hander) is a large, German, two-handed greatsword that made for an effective infantry weapon during the Renaissance period. These swords were used by the Germans, Hungarians, and Swiss and Zweihänder is a more modern name for a sword that went by names such as Dopplehänder and Bindenhänder. Contrary to popular belief and depiction, the Zweihänder is not a ridiculously heavy sword that is used for overly large swinging motions. Instead, it's actually a rather lightweight weapon, weiging from around 5 - 8 lbs. despite its appearance.

Ranging in length from about 5 - 6 ft, the swordsman uses a lot of chopping and hacking motions to attack the opponent. We chose this weapon for Abraxis to give him a more European influence to his overall character. Also, we wanted to give him a weapon that was big, powerful, and fierce but not go for something typical like an axe or a mace. Despite Abraxis' size and strength as well as the size of the Zweihänder, he's quite fast, powerful, and has good range.

Special Moves

Ruthless General: Ruthless General is a counter-throw move. If done at the right time, Abraxis will counter the last attack with a throw move. He steps beside the opponent, grabbing them by the face. He then lifts them up into the air, then drives their head into the ground, pressing it after it has been grounded.

Shoulder Press: Abraxis does a quick charging tackle. If charged long enough, it becomes a cloathsline. If that connects, he runs forward a few steps and launches the opponent back.

Face Stomp: A high hitting kick, if it hits, he brings his foot down, forcing the opponent to the floor with his foot. He then steps over the opponent onto the other side of the screen.

Stone Giant: Abraxis stands up straight, looking down at the opponent, smirking and cracking his knuckles. After this, he takes a little less damage and is not effected by Stun, Stumble, Crumple-Stun, Quake or Knockback effects.

Giant's Charge (Behemoth's Fist, Wall Shatterer, Wyvern's Tail): Abraxis runs forward a few steps. By itself, it is just a way to get closer to the opponent, however it has follow-up moves. Behemoth's Fist is a high-hitting Haymaker punch, which will knock the opponent to the side with a 3-D effect. Wall Shatterer is where he jumps forward with a mid-hitting knee, which knocks the opponent back. Wyvern’s Tail is a low sweep kick.

Throws

Cave In: Abraxis grabs the opponent and does a leg sweep, knocking the opponent to the floor. He spins around and does an axe kick on the grounded opponent.

Kick Flurry: Abraxis does a side kick and a turning kick, both catching the opponent in the abdomen. As the second kick hits, Abraxis raises his leg up vertically, holding the opponent on his foot. He then brings it down in an axe kick motion. As the opponent begins to fall to the ground, Abraxis knocks them out of the air with a spinning crescent kick.

Overall Gameplay Style: Abraxis' overall gameplay style relies on brute strength and aggression. He's more of a power-based character and uses a lot of powerful moves. His Pankration style will be a more close-quarters style with a lot of grappling maneuvers with some strikes and kicks while his Zweihänder has good range, containing and lot of chopping and hacking movements. His special moves are powerful and are generally strength-based. He's meant to be a rather advanced character due to how different he is from the other characters and just how powerful he is.

Mastery Level: 5

Fatalities

Forced Head Rip: Abraxis grabs the opponent by the throat and lifts them up into the air, standing up straight. He lifts them to his level to look them in the eye. He then places his other arm on their shoulder and pushes down with all his strength, severing the opponent's head from their body, a part of their spine dangling down. Abraxis then throws it to the side.

Torso Rip: Abraxis stands on the opponents feet, causing them to scream. He then grabs them around the waist, and pulls upward. A few seconds of the opponent screaming, he rips the torso off the opponent's body and slams it to the floor.

Costumes

Primary Costume: Abraxis' primary costume is based off of a concept drawing done by Paragon, which consists of long pants, a bodywrap and his hair spiked up.

Alternate Costume: In his alternate costume, he wears the same pants that he does in his primary costume. In addition, he wears a platemail chestplate and a bodywrap wrapped around his waist and over his shoulder. His hair is in its natural form now.

Extra Costumes: none

Get Up Animation: Using the momentum of his arms, he slams them on the floor while still laying on the ground to move back up, in a similar fashion to Ermac's get up.

Victory Pose: Abraxis stands up straight, revealing his full height, with his legs together, arms slightly out, and his hands spread open. He looks down at the camera, and considering his height. He will look angry and is about to snap.

Kombat Zone: Imperial Courtyard

Description: The Imperial Courtyard is located at the base of the Fortress, right by the barracks for the troops. When there's no public meeting or speeches given by Emperor Reiko, the soldiers use this area to train. Even before his promotion, only the brave or the stupid would dare to train with Abraxis, who used this area in partuicular because of its and his size.

Stage Traps: none

Stage Fatality: none

Bio

I was once a soldier in Shao Kahn’s armies, born and raised in a village loyal to the Emperor. Being larger than the others my age, I was given nicknames such as "Juggernaut" and "Behemoth", and soon, I was drafted into the armies of Outworld. There, I shot up the ranks because of my strength and brutality, and I even caught the eye of General Reiko. He was to accompany Shao Kahn and his most powerful allies into battle, and I was to ready the troops and await their return to crush the forces in Edenia and Earthrealm. However, that was not to be... Reiko returned alone, claiming Shao Kahn had been slain by the Edenian royal family. As proof, he brought back Shao Kahn’s helmet, and he quickly established himself as the new Emperor of Outworld.

Emperor Reiko made me his General, a position I took up gladly. I then made sure any who opposed his rule where put to death, be they from within our ranks or from the citizens of Outworld. I have led many campaigns and single-handedly brought victory. Because of this, Reiko has assigned me to capture the resistance leader Li Mei and bring her to him. Once this mission is complete, I, Abraxis the Unstoppable, am to represent Emperor Reiko in a tournament in Edenia. The winner gets a wish of their choosing. I am to wish for free access to all the realms for Emperor Reiko, and I will be the one to lead his forces to total domination of the realms!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sub-Zero_7th: Abraxis is one of the characters that Paragon came up with. He's basically meant to be that big, powerful brute that loves to inflict pain on others. Perhaps in a couple of ways, he's somewhat comparable to the likes of Motormaster from Transformers G1, who was the leader of the Stunticons and was known for being a cruel and vindictive bully. Although he is big and powerful, we wanted to go away from the stereotypes of making this kind of character slow and stupid. While he's not meant to be someone that excels in intelligence, he's not stupid either. Due to his size, he can cover ground fairly quickly and is meant to be faster and more agile than what many would believe. In terms of his moves and powers, he's a very technical and physical character, who relies on brute strength with a very aggressive mentality as opposed to someone who relies on magical or spiritual powers. Another thing that is noticeable is that he has a European influence to him as opposed to an Asian influence, which is another big difference.

Paragon: Abraxis is my answer to those who are wondering where those overly huge fighters like Shao Kahn, Goro, or Moloch are. Though more balanced then his predecessors, he is what I would imagine a barbarian warrior/giant would be like. He is big, brutish, very much a 'pound and ground' character, although I wanted to take him a step further then that. Abraxis is just as quick as other characters, which means for someone his size, he moves unbelievably fast. Also, for someone his size, he is quite agile and has a large array of kick moves and other moves which most would think impossible for someone his size. He is a very physical character and takes pride in what he does.

When I originally created Abraxis, he was a smaller, thinner person and was a general for Shinnok. But since we already have a character like that, I reworked his story and used a new design, and it seems to have fitted well. Unlike previous generals of higher powers, Abraxis does not desire power. He simply loves hurting people and showing he is better then everyone else. He is basically the playground bully of the real world, though not as dumb or cowardly. He is one of the people we had to consider when thinking of how things such as fatalities would work because some kind of fatalities that could be performed on other characters wouldn’t be able to on him because of his size.
