So, earlier this evening I decided not to sit on the sidelines anymore. I wanted to get off of my ass and do something, or better phrased, write something. So I wrote an open letter to NRS concerning the overall displeasure with KP2. I plan on trying to float this around to as many places as I can so any help in doing so, no matter where, would be appreciated. The main goal was to just vent my frustrations but obviously secondary is to try and get someone from NRS to see this and read it. Here's hoping for better days in the future for those of us let down by KP2.

Great letter it sums up my feelings of this shitty KP2 as well. Leatherface..... Seriously why???? Should've kept it to one guest in each pack predator and alien and that's it! Personally I don't want any guests but I understand the theory behind them and they are good money makers.

I read the letter (and it was really good btw) but in the most respectable way possible, I cant help but feel like that some people (Not you Kenshi, at least you are civil and mature in the way you voice your displeasure with KP2) that are worked up over it are overreacting just a little bit?Anyway I have said many times that people as consumers should openly voice their displeasure with certain things related to a product , but at the same time I cant help but feel like some of this anger just stems from some people not getting everything they wanted the way they wanted it. Its like now that there are two more guests, the other 29 MK characters we will have in the game suddenly don't exist anymore.

I wanted Shang Tsung, Kabal, and Havik. I didn't get any of them. One could even argue that these filthy guests "stole their spot" (although I don't agree with that particular line of thinking) but its not the end of the world. I became a fan of MK because the team put out that first game and I liked it, I kept being a fan because I continued to like the games they put out, not because I crossed my arms and pouted until they made the game how I wanted it made. I guess I just hate the idea of fans trying to dictate how a company should make their product and then getting upset if its not exactly how they want it. That isn't what being a fan is about IMO.

This really isn't a direct response to the letter, though the letter made me think about this whole debacle as a whole and I thought I might as well just give my honest thoughts on the matter here. I am sure it wont sit well with people since I implied that some of the anger/displeasure stems from people just being spoiled/entitled (and ill stand by that) but at the same time I know that isn't the case for everybody, since I know some people are just against the guest thing all together regardless of who it is and have been since MK9. Though I do believe, that even if it were all MK characters, plenty of people still would have found a way to bitch and complain.

Anyway, nice letter Kenshi. It was a good read and I pretty much agree with everything you said in it for the most part. I hope somebody from NRS takes the time to read it. Though I cant say I am angry about the guests since I am also a fan of these series's that they pulled the guests from too...which is going to make this whole post sound like its coming from a place of bias lol

Very well written my friend.

You managed to hit on all the important issues as of late while still praising the positive points of the game and franchise.

Bravo!

Also, just wanted to add one more thing while its on m,y mind. People not liking KP2 doesn't bother me at all, like I have said many times, if you don't like it let it be known. What does sort of bother me, is the way some people are going about voicing their displeasure. It kind of makes us (The MK community) look bad. Lets pretend I worked at NRS, or was Ed Boon or whoever and was reading around MK message boards just to see what the general response was to KP2. There are people like Kenshi, who seem genuinely displeased with us getting 2 more guests, but manages to let people know in a way that is mature and understandable. These are peoples posts who I would actually take time to acknowledge, consider or even address. Then you have these people...the "FUCK YOU NRS Y TF DID YOU PUT LEATHERDOUCHE IN!?!?! ID RATHER HAVE MEAT OR MOKAP THAN THAT FAT INBRED HILLBILLY RETARD! IM NEVER BUYING ANY OF YOUR GAMES AGAIN RAWWWRRRR FUCK YOU!!!" people.

These are the people who I would completely ignore, their opinion on the matter would mean absolutely nothing to me and I sure as hell wouldn't go out of my way to try and please them.

Obviously this is just my take on the matter and how I would handle it, but tbh I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people have a similar outlook in the matter lol

I'm not mad because I didn't get what I wanted, I'm mad because the PEOPLE didn't get what they wanted. Majority of the core fanbase got behind Fujin and the core fans were ignored. That's what bothers me. We kept this game going well after launch and this is how they repay us? By completely disregarding core fans and catering to people who stopped playing and traded the game in a month after launch? Fuck that.

And that's another thing, the casual money they're fishing for is gone. Those people checked out and are not coming back just to buy more DLC for a game they don't play anymore. While most core fans refuse to buy the pack at all and are buying Bo and maybe Triborg. So it just feels like a giant waste because the audience they wanted with this pack isn't even there anymore.

Well written but useless, my friend.

Fujin fans should ask for Fujin's inclusion in the game. That's all. The god of wind does NOT have to be a part of any kombat pack. He can be a standalone DLC. Speaking about Bo, Leatherface, Alien, Tri-borg, are they good, are they making any sense... all of this controversy doesn't help Fujin at all.

BTW, I believe Fujin fans should flood the emails of WB. At this point, I believe, WB is the decision maker about future DLC, not NRS or Boon himself.

Fujin bless ya all.

I agree that Fujin should have been in, I honestly think he should have made it in this game before Bo did. I honestly don't know why they continue to neglect Fujin. I think I speak for most when I say that this was the perfect game for him to make his proper re-entrance into the series as a playable character. I don't know what their deal is with him, I am kind of stumped tbh. I feel like there is a reason, but what it is idk. Some people did get what they wanted though. I constantly see people talk about how nobody asked for Leatherface where Boon's twitter points towards the opposite. Are they casuals who have already bounced? Maybe, but I find it odd they would still be checking Boon's twitter in November if they weren't playing anymore or weren't "real" fans of MK. I think this pack was NRS trying to please everybody, which like you have told me before, is never a good idea, but I honestly think thats what happened here. Them trying to throw something in for everyone. If triborg isn't a perfect example of that, then idk what is lol

Thanks for taking the time to read it, guys. Just couldn't sit around and think/post about it anymore, I had to do something constructive about it. Writing that was almost cathartic.

The overall, legit complaints about this pack are probably being drowned out by the ones screaming like lunatics and threatening NRS in some way. The reality is, most of the displeasure doesn't come from "I wanted so-and-so in" (though some of it very much is that in a nutshell) more over the fact we just wanted more MK characters to play as no matter who they were. Sure, we had our favorites (the ones we were rooting for) but I literally would've taken anyone and been happy. Hell, I would've even been pleased with Hsu Hao at this point. I really do want to see what NRS can do with all of their characters given their new engine/resources and the fresh blood on their development team.

I do feel as if there is the crowd of casuals who just want more content and it doesn't matter who it is and that's good. I'm glad they enjoyed the game that much. Then there is a group of core fans who feel the same. Again, that's completely fine. However, the fact that Brian Chard alone feels that Fujin was requested by a "vocal minority" proves beyond the shadow of a doubt just how out of touch they are with their fanbase; THAT is the real problem. How in God's name do you add Martian Manhunter due to fans complaints but cannot do the same in the case of your other, more popular franchise?

Exactly, all of the people with genuine complaints/concerns and who can go about expressing them civilly are being drowned out by the raving lunatics lol

Whoa so Brain Chard said he thought Fujin was only wanted by a minority? That is a little odd. Maybe they get most of their info from Twitter or something? I know damn well if they were reading MK related forums there would be no way he can think that lol

I really like your letter. Make sure to get it to Boon via Twitch or suchlike.

The inclusion of Leatherface is borderline offensive, and not in the horror/gore sense of the word.

I agree with this....But, If only this was the sentiment before this Kombat pack was announced...People around here were acting like a story pack would have been the worst fucking thing ever...Not to mention the meltdowns over the roster even pre-launch.

Well, looks like it took 4 guest characters before some saw the value of the actual MK characters, no matter which...Maybe if Sindel or Baraka make it in now or in the next installment, They wont be treated like garbage by the fans. sigh.

So true. People can't act like a story Pack would've been complete shit, and then turn around and say they would take any MK character over what we got.

I was for story pack, it seemed very realistic and possible. I was also for any other mix up of MK characters we got. What we got though I can not handle.

I think tweeting this letter, emailing WB, and any other mean showing a collective displeasure will make some difference. If you haven't signed the petition, DO IT HERE.

I sincerely doubt it. The next installment is well off and probably by that time, this whole furore will be forgotten or the severity of it will be diminished. I think by the time it rolls around most people will be back to being concerned if their characters make the roster and when they do not, the inevitable wasting roster spots talk will begin especially if they NRS keeps guests as DLC.

That's the thing though. Normally, I don't like Jax. He's always come off as bland to me. And I wasn't happy he was returning for MKX. However, NRS sold me on him after playing as him. And he looks the best he's ever looked, imo. I want them to wow me with the other characters I normally don't like now. Make me a believer instead of handing me guest after guest as DLC.

Jax is a literal powerhouse in this game. A terrifying powerhouse.

If Kobu Tanya wasn't already my designated pressure character, then Jax or Lao would have been next on the list. Which is overly surprising since I was also displeased with his inclusion lol.

The only problem I have with the letter honestly is that you speak with definitive terms. For example we don't know that Fujin was 'obviously' the most highly requested. I think that looking across the board, MKO, TYM, TRMK, Youtube, etc it looks like he is and I think that it is a fair argument pointing that out, but I believe that NRS has a tendency in making up their own facts; or simply put, lying.

For example, they couldn't develop a functioning Reptile tail, or develop a build for Motaro, but now (for DLC need I remind you) they can?

I think they have a very bad habit of making excuses, instead of just identifying the issues. Communication is very bad (which I think you conveyed) between NRS and the consumers.

DLC Zod got an alternative costume, which not only identified that it is possible, but also IMO is something that we should not be excusing. We are paying for full DLC characters, but we now have evidence that they are "incomplete".

I like that you recognized that you appreciate their work, but we should also not feel as though we need to kiss their asses, in hopes that they will listen to what we have to say. Honestly we should be able to say "what happened here?"

Them not providing alternate costumes for DLC characters(like Tanya, Tremor, Bo, not guests) is unacceptable and just plain lazy.

People must stop whining already yo. You can't tell NR what to do, it's ok to whine about but this shit is ridiculous. You spent hundreds of dollars ? Are you sane homie ? I spent 1000 only on MK 1 arcade. WOW! Hey booN listen to me! I spent 2 dollars on your games so you should give me Kenshi OMG lol! Atleast ask for Noob Saibot or someone iconic. I looked over youtube and there thousands of people hyped for this DLC. MK won't exits without those people, but will without 2 people asking for Fujin ;)

I don't understand how them not providing free alts for DLC characters makes them incomplete characters. Are we doing that now? Labeling characters without extra costumes incomplete? I guess I can see the argument since all the launch characters on disc have alts, but I still think thats reaching a bit. I do wish they would give some of them alts though, I just don't think not doing it makes them incomplete.
