PS3
I read today on MTV.com that the PS3 will be released Spring 2006.
There were some games that were being developed but MK wasn't one of them.
Does that mean PS3 is out of the question for future Mortal Kombat games, or are they still working on SM?
I really hope that the next installment will be on the PS3, I hear the graphics are better than the 360 ( XBOX 2 ).
What are your thoughts on this?

What you've been hearing is crap. The only thing that I've seen that the PS3 has over the 360 is the over-all CPU gigaflops, which isn't by that much. But don't be stupid and startin' flamewars over consoles that aren't even out yet.

PS3
Fight Night demo
Xbox 360
Gears of War
These are the best examples of each of the system's power that I could think of.
The PS3 is supposed the be the more powerful of the two.

The Kill Zone 2 movie was pre rendered, so it's not actual in game footage.
They interviewed a guy that's working on the game and he said something like.
It is a representation of the look and feel we are trying to achieve.
Its an FMV set up to look like game play footage, or what they are going for.
Here is the interview
It's vague, so the actual game could look just like it or just very close to that.
Nobody knows yet.
That's why I didn't mention it as an example.
(Edit)
I just found this interview at IGN. The guy says that it IS actual game play. He said it like 3 times. Check it out here
We'll see though..... eventually.

I think both systems are capable of having amazing, almost photoreal graphics- particularly for a 1 on 1 fighting game.
I think that what they do with the animation, and the visual style in the character models, arenas, lighting etc. will be far more important than the sheer number of polygons on screen at one time.

It'll be almost like the MKDA and MKD character select screen and ending pictures but in real time.
