He appeared in a couple panels in the comic used as a plot device. Not weird at all. There was no big foreshadowing that he would be in the game.

I give the roster a solid 8/10.

Jax, Jacqui, Sonya and Johnny were the most unnecessary additions. Could have had one better new character and three better returning ones.

Initial roster gets a 8/10. One point off for a couple of characters who I didn't think fit very well (Reptile, Goro). One point off on NPC of the story who I wanted to make it in (Frost, Smoke, Rain). Still has the best new characters since MKII and evolved versions of the classics.

DLC bumps it up to a 9/10. Adding in Tayna and Bo help with the NPCs I wanted to make it in. Triborg and Tremor are two more interesting new characters (I hope Triborg is tryely his own characters and not just an excuse to have cyborgs).

As for guest, I do think it is too many, but being extra content they really can't bring the score down, imo. Predator and Alien are pretty cool and I'm excited to see what comes out of NRS working on them (like maybe a tailed Reptile return?). Jason is one of my favorite horror movie characters of all time so playing as him is just a cool experience. Leatherface I'm pretty skeptical about. His movies weren't really about how many way can you kill someone like Friday or Nightmare were, and his personality is more dramatic (talking about the original Chainsaw version) and therefore harder to express in a fighting game.

Final rating including all DLC is a 9.5/10. I would say it's my favorite roster not including Trilogy, Armageddon, or MK9.

I would give it a solid 7/10. I like most of the characters, could have lived without the kombat kids and D'vorah. Definitely loses points for hyping up characters like Reiko, Havik, and Fujin in the comics then never including them. The roster as is has still managed to keep me playing since launch, so that says a lot.

this game basically has some flaws ; inconsistent character choices ,abundant and irrelevant guests.The worst thing it lacks of diversity and I love MK9 just for that reason MKX roster = 6/10

I'll take a revamped Jarek or Reiko over Jacqui fucking Briggs any day.

I'd rather see Jacqui and Cassie again rather than Jarek, Tanya, Hotaru, Dairou, Darrius, Mokap, Meat, Hsu Hao, Mavado, Nitara, etc.

MK Gold roster over MKX roster yes, MK4 hell no! Never understood why Gold was only Dreamcast.

People would have rejected Cassie and Jacqui just as hard as Jarek and Kai.

People like Cassie for her personality, something no character had in MK4. People like Jacqui for her satisfying gameplay, another thing that was definitely not in MK4.

Satisfying gameplay? Who are these people? Have you seen the character play stats since launch? There is a reason Jacqui is so low.

Bland character with 'I'm a tough black bitch' stereotype, uninspired variations based on her dad, poor character balance (hitbox whiffs, tiny arms meaning combos and grabs are awkward) and the fact she is totally unnecessary. We already have Cassie Cage... did we really need Jacqui Briggs? Why do we even need a fucking blood line?
