Rumor: Online Store Reportedly Lists Mortal Kombat Sequel

The Rumor Mill Stirs as Italian Site Reports Australian Store Sequel Listing

In a case of he said, they said; Italian gaming site Games.it is reporting a listing for "Mortal Kombat 10" via online store Oz Games Shop.

The Australian online retailer is reported to have since pulled the listing, which included a November 22 release date across all platforms. This includes: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC & PSVita.

Exciting, though it may be, it's not unusual for retailers to set up place holding pages for anticipated future products. Acknowledgment of an expected sequel has been noted for quite some time. The most substantial news broke in February; when Hollywood star Kiefer Sutherland revealed his contribution to voice work in an unspecified Mortal Kombat video game [full story].

Update (Mar. 20): Oz Games Shop (@ozgameshop) have denied the rumor, telling Mortal Kombat Online (via Twitter):

Parent company Warner Brothers Interactive Ent. has confirmed a presence at the upcoming E3 event in June. The 2014 Electronic Entertainment Expo could be where the next NetherRealm Studios project is officially announced.

lol Nah, but this is neat. Any info regarding MK10 is a good hear for me. I've been waiting for MK10 since Liu Kang blamed Raiden for killing everybody. I'm still looking forward to E3, for some hardcore MK10 footage.

I actually hope this is not true as far as release goes. I would like for NRS to get more time to work to make sure that the game is well done. Especially the game mechanics. I wouldn't want a rushed MK.

Looking forward to it, but I was sorta hoping it would be next gen exclusive. I'm ready to see what they can do if they don't have to worry about 360/PS3 compatibility.

There's no way it's coming this year. Spring 2015 seems more likely.

With the reveal trailer presumably 3 months away, I was starting to wonder when info would start surfacing. Despite it mentioning 360/PS3, I doubt the game will be on previous-gen consoles. When Boon was asked about MK10 a while ago, he said that it wouldn't be worth making unless it was next-gen. That' doesn't necessarily mean that previous-gen versions wasn't in the cards, but if the idea is to make a revolutionary experience out of MK, a previous-gen version doesn't really fit that vision.

We'll see, I guess.

If MK10 was in production simultaneously with Injustice, then most likely it's pretty far in development.

And even if it isn't, two years is about normal for development time anyway. As long as it's out before Evo 2015, I'm happy.

Id love to see MK show a presence at e3 but Nov if this year for a release date sounds a bit too soon and a bit rushed. Maybe spring 2015.

They already have the mk9 engine and injustice depending what they use the engine is done, minus ps4 which might be modified or altogether new idk.

Don't think its true.

WB has another major release that is Arkham Knight + I think its too early to get it at the end of this year.

Otherwise, its Midway all over again.

I would be thoroughly excited about MK9/MK10 being on both next generation and past generation systems. Not everybody has a PS4 or XBox1 so being able to play MK9/MK10 on my PS3 would be ideal!

I highly doubt that it will be released this year. As previously stated, Batman Arkham Knight is already set to release this October and they aren't going to release 2 big titles like that in the same month. Wouldn't be smart marketing.

I'd expect to see this game some time next year, but with all this information leaking, I'd imagine we'll be getting a trailer in the next month or so. Didn't we get the first MK9 trailer in April?

Interesting. Though probably just a rumor.
I think, that MK10 was in development for some amount of time, so I am not excluding possibility, that it can be released in the end of this year.
Whether, it's true or not, it looks like MK10 will be anounced quite soon.

Normally I'd be all for next and current gen versions. But after seeing what KI could do, I think MK should definitely go full next gen. If they release it on current gen they'll be held back by the hardware limitations of current gen systems.

I want MK to be as good as possible. Have you seen Injustice on PS4? It looks terrible. Graphics aren't everything but the game would be easier to develop on next gen hardware.

Not only that but Rocksteady is abandoning the PSWii60 console with Arkham Knight and it looks great. I would hope that NRS will do the same.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't MK9 have a placeholder date of November 2010 before they moved the date back to April. It seems like I remember rumors of MK9 popping up, and I kept thinking that I would get MK for Christmas 2010. Then, the date got moved back when it was officially announced. So, I definitely wouldn't throw this rumor out. That November date may just be a placeholder until they officially announce MK10.

So about a year ago some producer for either legacy or the movie mentioned they wanted the movie to coincide with the game which was already in development.

Then, back in February Keifer released the info that he was finished doing voiceover work for MK.

Now, we find MK10 listed on a foreign site.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that we will have an official announcement in the coming months. Idk what system the game will be fore, but all of this info seems too coincidental.

I say either the VGA's or E3 we will have an official announcement.

Whatever the case, I am hoping the next MK is PS4/XB1 only.

I really would feel a bit "blah!" about them having to limit all this potential to current systems. And then we'd have to wait another 4 years for a truly next gen MK.

....Think about it. MK11 (2019) [hypothetical] for true hardware potential? I'd rather not.

Patience people, patience!! Like I tell friends, be patient about mk10. Let nrs take as much as they need to make the game. MkvsDc was rushed and it was horrible, a game takes TIME to create!! Keep playing injustice and mk9 and in some moment we will get trailers and stuff like that. As early it should come out 2015 but don't get your hopes up. Shinnok for the win. ^_^
