Okay Shang Tsung fans! Assuming Shang Tsung makes the cut in MK8, What would you like to see for him?? Appearance, moves, story?

APPEARANCE- Okay, Shang looked cool in MK1, MK2, MK3, but im not a fan of his new appearance. I think they should give him one classic look, such as his MK2 appearance (i know he has an updated version, but I Want the black and yellow one) and one new version. How about his true demonic form? That would be interesting visually, and could move his story in a new direction.

MOVES- I like his new move set, but I also want him to have his fireballs from MK3. the ones that come up from the ground. Also, he may not be able to morph into other characters anymore, but as a throwback to his "morphing days" it would be cool if he could morph between his different appearances (old, mk2, mk3, demonic)
Fatality wise, he NEEDS his soul stealing fatality again. Id like to see it more like it was in MK2, where he lifts someone up sucks the soul out, and his victim looks like a rotton corpse.

STORY- Ive said it before in another post, but I think he is the "Shredder" of the series. Hes always involved in whatever is going down. If theres a way to get more powerful, the shredder and shang tsung would be involved. After failing so many times, id like to see a more desperate Shang Tsung, a weakened one, (bring in demonic form) I want to see a no holds barred, do what ever it takes to get power, badass shangtsung.

I would like to see him with his MK: DA appearance for his first costume and for his alt I'd like to see his MK3 apperance. For moves I'd like him to keep what he had from Deadly Alliance. For fatalities Soul Steal is a must have along with either the Bed of Spikes fatality(MK3) or the Inner Ear fatality(MK2).

Another thing I would like to see is Shang's demon form (his true self) and I would like to find out more about his past. I want to know what his true origins are, how Shao Khan found him, and any thing else that we already don't know about him.

Well in terms of looks he should keep his MK:DA look as he is well suited for a regal look. As an alternate I say his outfit from MK2 as it is well suited for a kick your ass look.
Move wise I liked his moves from MK:DA but I would definately like to see him do his morphing again as that is a big part of what made Shang Tsung Shang Tsung. Fatalities he should definately keep his soul steal move but it should be the MK2 version and he should have the inner ear fatality but instead when he goes inside the opponent he coul control their body and have them pull a hara kiri fatality on themselves by Shang Tsung s doing.
Story wise Midway should induldge and elaborate on his past as to his true origins/how he became alligned with Shao Kahn and when/his intentions as a new sorceror and his intentions now. Maybe even have him sever his bond with Kahn and become stronger (magically) than him and rise above Kahn as the new boss.
Hm... Well put together, man. What he needs, though, are the triple skull fireballs. Awesomeness... That will be guaranteed.

How about a compromise? Shang Tsung's MK DA outfit (Blackish blue one) as his primary, and his demonic form wearing the MK 2 outfit.

For moves, give him his skull fireballs back. Seems like ever since he took Liu Kang's soul, he's been copying the way he fires them off. Keep the soul steal, and finally, give him the ability to morph again. The Xbox 360 uses a harddrive (Ps3 also, I think?) so the game can load everything up before hand, and let him do his thing.

Fatalities: I'd like a variation of his Deadly Alliance fatality and his soul sucker from MK II.

Thing is, even if he does make it back, I doubt Boon and company are going to reuse the same outfits and fatalities...but here's hoping that they at least use a little something.

I would like for shang to have his mksm look as his primary, and his alt could be his mk2 or 3 look.
For his specials- (mkda)soul steal, ground eruption,(actual)morphing, 1,2,and 3 fireballs and mysterious magic.
As for his Fataliities I'd also like for him to have his mk2 soul-steal and a Inner Soul type fatality.
I'm not to fond of shang returning as a boss. the reason is because, he has been playable for a long time(mk2-present). I just don't see it happening! Shang is a fave of mine of all-time, except for his crappy woredrobe in mkda..nasty! oh ya and his gay spike fatality!

the MKDA costunmed rape the others, though it could have used more black and gold instead of that much red. Just a slight recolor might have improved it a lot.
The alt is tolerable, but it should blend in with the MK2 attire a little bit more. Also, the 3D fireballs were a blast, perhaps the 3 skull could be rewamped as having the straight one as a buff after those have been fired.

But on another note, I am not keen in having Shang in the same role again. Beats me, he could be the next protagonist: who said that we have to be sated with "good" guys....

I'm with chrome on the color revamp for his mk:da primary. That's just to awesome a look to be thrown away. As for an alt, I may be the minority, but i think a nice 3d version of his mk "old man" look would be pretty sweet.

As for moves, I think his mk:da moveset was close to perfect aside from the whole non-morphing thing.

Fatalities: The Soul Steal is a must. I do want it to more closely resemble MK 2 though. The mk:da soul steal was just utter freaking crap. not quite on neck stretch suckiness level...but close. As for his second fatality... maybe something along the lines of using the souls he's already attained. a quick for instance: he summons a couple souls who then rips his opponent limb from limb. maybe elaborate on that premise further.

huh...all this shang tsung talk makes me wish he survives.

I agree that his move set from DA was great but they should give him back his 1,2 or 3 fireball and maybe his ground fireball fom MK3.

In all honesty i would like him to die and stay dead. Im saying this because he and a hell lot of other villains have been alive way to long. I like Shang Tsung but he needs to croak.

I partially agree with you but I don't think his being "alive way too long" will result in his death, not because he is my favorite (which he is, but it's better to be unbiased in these discussions), but because Midway won't expel the unnecessary characters solely for their longtime appearance. The characters can become stale, boring and "I wish he was real so that I could beat the fuck out of him myself"- type even without being too long on the show. Compare Sub Zero to Stryker: Stryker has merely been in two instalments and he is already as hated as hell; while Sub Zero is playable ever since 1992 till today and Boon confirmed he will make it for MK8. But, when it's about Shang Tsung, nearly everyone is bitching he's been around too long. That unreasonable inequality among the classic combatants pisses me off indeed.

Shang Tsung has always been one of my fav characters. And I feel that he should return in the next MK not cause he is my favorite but because he has more potential with his move and especially his story. People who don t like him bitch and say that he has been around way to long. Not the case, they have to remeber that Shang Tsung has not been in every MK as opposed to Sub Zero who has or Scorpion who has missed one tournament. Shang Tsung has potential to be yet a stronger character.
