It's okay, I didn't realize some people didn't read the comics. Either way, Johnny and Sonya are separated in the comics.

On topic:

I find it pretty interesting they're divorced. It's pretty evident they still have/will have feelings for each other throughout Story Mode.

They continue their love/hate relationship and that's awesome. Their dialogues and interactions should be pretty cool.

Yeah I think they still have feelings for each other, they seem to get along awfully well for a divorced couple lol they will end up back together by the end of the game, and then in the next MK it will be revealed that after the events of MKX they had another child. Enter: Connor Cage

Were there people under the impression that it would? I like that MKX actually put them in a realistic portrayal of where their kind of relationship would end up.

Yes they are divorced but I bet they will get remarried at the end of the game. Then some new bad guy comes into the story and the game says to be continued.wink

Johnny is obviously still interested. He wears the wedding band around his neck as a keepsake. Reminder of past mistakes? Hope for the future?

However, Sonya just doesn't seem all that into it tbh. She's obviously FED UP with JC. At this point, it seems she only works with him because she has to.

I'm not surprised though. I couldn't deal with that 24/7. So, mad props to you Sonya.

We've seen both Johnny and Sonya wearing wedding bands around their necks in the leaked pic of them with Jax.


In this trailer, only Johnny is wearing one. In the comic, Neither are wearing one.

Either the costume design has changed for both characters since then (like their faces did) or they get back together and start wearing their "Neck-rings" after a certain point.

The reveal of Cassie was so huge to me for the fact that Cage actually won over Sonya. Who would've thunk it? Desperate times call for desperate measures I suppose. I was initially bummed to find out that they couldn't make it last from the comics, but given even just a little thought it makes perfect sense.

Alternatively, it adds more story dynamic if the two had obviously gotten together, but split and then spend the story reconciling there differences and realizing that, though it is not perfect, they balance each other out.

Did not see this one coming but it actually makes a lot of sense. Johnny and Sonya have always been the biggest frenemyship in the franchise, I can see why they wouldn't want to let go of that story arc.

It's a given that they are back together by the end of story mode though.
