I would just suggest a versus screen using all these ideas, that would be cool, or sumthin like SC did... thats what i keep thinking of

I think this is a great idea. In relation, I think it'd be nice to have the character you choose fight opponents with some signifigance in Arcade Mode rather than a group of random opponents. That way you could follow a story with whichever character you choose, and before the fight, a short story will come up as to why this certain character is fighting this person...sort of like Konquest Mode in MK:DA.

Kenshi (IEP):

Katana flies across the arena, Kenshi flips down from the roof and sheaths Katana cool-style.

Kenshi (PBIA):

Katana flies across arena, Kenshi jumps down from roof behind opponent, then uses Telekintetic Flurry on his back. Sheaths Katana cool-style.

Noob Saibot (IEP):

Noob is nowhere to be seen until black liquid leaks out of the ground. The liquid turns into Noob ala T-100 from Terminator 2.

Johnny Cage (PBIA):

Cage is nowhere to be seen until forceball flies into opponent. Stunned, the opponent rubs his eyes to find Johnny Cage.

Liu Kang vs. Onaga:

Liu Kang and Onaga look eye to eye, until Liu Kang throws a fireball and Onaga throws a Dragon fireball. They deflect each other. The announcer yells "MORTAL KOMBAT!" as battle begins.

Johnny Cage vs. Cyrax (lol):

Cyrax uses arm panel until Johnny Cage ambushes Cyrax. "I was ripped off my money when I saw your movies," Cyrax says, "but now, I will rip your life away!" The announcer yells "MORTAL KOMBAT!" as battle begins.

Scorpion vs. Sub Zero vs. Noob Saibot (Midway, please add 3 way Kombat in MK7!):

Sub Zero and Scorpion eye Noob Saibot. Noob throws his hand far away. Sub Zero and Scorpion look confused until a dark fireball appears out of Noob's hands and attacks Sub Zero. Scorpion throws his spear, and Noob just grabs it, as it fades into darkness and dissolves. The announcer yells "MORTAL KOMBAT!" as battle begins.

I think special entrances would make everything a bit silly... because, they sure as hell don't work in Tekken 5!(opinion)
For example:

That was a crappy idea for an entrance there, made no sense whatsoever Nobrainer. But, just because you created a dumb one (were you joking to make your point? I hope so), doesn't mean that special entrances would be bad.

I think if done correctly, they could really add some depth to the characters, and show us a little more of their personalities, as well as just being a good feature anyway. Everyone should have a standard one, but also special entrances if that fighter faces a rival, or someone they have some connection with. Who wouldn't want to see Kung Lao and Shang Tsung, for example, exchange a few words and pre match moves before they fight each other?

If they do do this, I hope Johnny Cage has one involving the autographed photo he used in Friendships. I always thought that was so perfect for him, it fits the cocky movie star very well.

The way I feel about it, is that if the Mk team actually take everyone up on this and implement the special entrances into Mortal Kombat, then they had better do it right!
Playing the Tekken 5 demo, I was shocked at how lame the pre fight comments were. I know this was only a demo, but they really seemed pointless. Jin's, for example; "Come on." or that Kazama girl's; "So, you want to fight me?" were just bottom of the barrel-lame.
Now, this may not seem like something that would scupper gameplay, but, boy, would it. If the begin sequences for Mk7 are that bad, then watching them over and over again will become a nightmare.
There have been some very well thought responses on this thread, some of which, deserve to be nicked by Midway!

...However, if Midway does come round to using this idea, and ends up programming it terribly, then god help us all...

Maybe even go as far as to have the stages relate to each other, Case in point. U finished a fight at the Portal, then u see a cut-scene scene showing Scorpion beckoning you to the Ghost ship, thats where your next fight will take place, instead of having fights in random arenas

I must say I'm definitely in agreement with this feature in MK and I'm digging these ideas thus far.

Reptile: Enters the arena in his classic ninja gear, face mask human form and all. His opponent then goes into their fighting stance expecting it to begin, then with a raptor screech his true reptillian form tears it's way out of the costume literally tearing the flesh off his skin. He then leaps into the air landing with his teeth inches from the opponents face.

Cyrax: Energy net flies across the arena capturing the opponent and bringing them towards cyrax, in a cybernetic voice he says "You're already dead" before cutting them lose and teleporting to the opposite side of the arena into his stance.


Mileena: She does her roll across the floor until just in front of her opponent. She then springs up and throws one of her sais into the air. In a frak show fashion she then opens her mouth and the centre blade goes right down her throat she then closes her mouth biting the point off and spits it at the opponent and slicing the side of thier face. She laughs and goes into stance.

I rekon they are okay but there would be no vs screen input code stuff. I think it could be funny. Just imagine them coming out WWE style. LMAO!

As long as you can hit start or select and skip them once they get old after a week.

As much as i like alot of these ideas you guys have had, i think that alot of them are really over complicated and they should be far more simple and only happened between certian characters, like liu and kung lao or shang tsung, scorpion and sub-zero and sonya/jax and kano etc. More akin to what you get in the street fighter games like when ryu and ken fight, when they hit there fists together its just a cool touch and it doesnt get old as it doesnt happen everytime ryu or ken fight someone.

Sonya vs Kano, walk right up to each other and stare each other down, WWe style till fight is announced
Kitana vs Mileena, mileena walks up to Kitana and hisses sister in her face as kitana turns to look away.
Sub-zero vs scorpion, scorpion goes to harpoon sub but does the ice clone move which shatters as it gets hit. like in mka
Baraka vs any of earthrealm, releases his blades and roars/screams
