No, tobias wasnt, or atleast isnt, on bad terms with boon or NRS. If you go to his twitter, sometimes he talks about them and recently he got the klassic arcade stick from them after eating lunch with boon and co. But i do wish he would become part of the mk team again and work on story with vogel. It could be very good.
I didn't know that (being that I don't use Twitter). I remember he put out art designs for MK some time ago. If he did come back, he could put some new stories for the new timeline.
I thought about the original post, but I just realized where is Shang Tsung now giving how he was turned into energy and converted into Sindel. Sindel after the massacre was burnt by Nightwolf's so where did Shang go? He's not in the zombie army. I thought maybe Shinnok resurrects Shang and uses him as a back-up sorcerer if he learns Quan Chi is going to betray him. He would give Shang all the souls in the Netherealm for his service.
I'm surprised that Shinnok never got revenge on Quan Chi in the old timeline for stealing his Amulet. You'd think he'd want to get back at a backstabbing ally who gave him a fake copy of one of his weapons.
Shang, aside from morphing and taking souls, seems to also be to possess people like in his second fatality from MK 9 and in his first from MK2. He could possess and cause the zombie army to betray Quan Chi as a way of getting back at him for stealing his popularity with Khan.
Just a thought, he might actually redeem himself like his MK 9 ending.
