So I don't play many games anymore and I have never followed one as closely as MKX before but damn am I shitted off with this drip feeding of info we have had the whole frigging way. would it kill them to just come out and say here is KP2 you get blah blah blah, it will cost $40 and it's available from the 1st Feb. instead of kp2 is coming next year (no new info for months), here's a silouhette(no new info for months), here's the charcaters (no new info for weeks), here's a gameplay trailer(no release info or complete package details).

Is this just an NRS thing or do all game companies do it? I understand the theory behind building hype but come on guys this KP2 has taken longer to release then the friggin game did!

It's really frustrating, isn't it? They don't explain the skin pack situation well at all and I've asked them on twitter to clarify if the skins listed in the trailer are all we're getting, but no response. Therefore, there's a lot of confusion about the entire pack. What's the price of the pack? Will the Pit be included or free for everyone? When the fuck is the release date?

It wouldn't kill them to announce these things, and I don't get why they don't. They surely have to have a release date by now, the characters all look pretty much completed. They really don't like to give away too much information at once for some reason though. It's great that they give a trailer to us and all that, but I would appreciate a little more info.

That's the only thing that annoys me. When are we gonna see this pack released? Is it all at once or piece by piece?

I remember Ed saying we love to get teased. I guess he's right if we talk about "secrets and unlockables". But not as getting information.

Can anyone remember how long before KP1 hit that the full list of content was released? That's all I want, really.

I refuse to believe that NRS have only made three new skins over the past six months. Surely not???

Information is given out piecemeal because:

i) the company will give out information that is definitiive and not subject to change.

ii) it is part of the marketing strategy for the game.

Nearly every game publisher releases information like this. If you do not like it, then too bad.

They need a different strategy then. Maybe one that actually tells people what the prices are.

Lol That's so true. You'd have thought it would be smart to put the pack up for pre-order the day the trailer dropped but noooooo.

Maybe. Or maybe the price could still be part of point one. The part about information not being definitive yet. Maybe they are still working on the price point. Maybe they are not telling the price on purpose just to annoy people and lose potential customers. It is really difficult. It is a whole load of maybe's. Which one could it be? Could someone enlighten me?

If that's the case then wait to release your trailer that details your Kombat Pack until after you sort your shit out. I don't wanna be that guy but Capcom priced their SFV Season pass back in December. The game doesn't launch until next month.

So come on NRS get it together.

This was a gameplay trailer giving people a glimpse of what the new characters are going to be like. It is obvious that NRS are still working on the pack so when they are ready to release more concrete information they will. A little patience and understanding go a long way.

I'm just saying it makes more sense to have all your ducks in a row before you start showing off your product. Naturally someone's first response after the video might be "Gee I wonder how much the pack will cost?"

And someone else might say "Good question. Especially since 3/4 of the costumes and Goro are repackaged content."

I agree but this is not an ideal world and it is obvious this pack was not part of the original plan. The first Kombat Pack they already had the price and the characters sorted out. They are giving out the information as they go along and I think most people are actually grateful for that otherwise we would be here knowing nothing about the pack.

MKO is not a good site on which to base the current populairty of MKX. We're all passionate about the franchise, but only when we're bitching and moaning. The rest of the playerbase (and it is voluminous, believe me) doesn't really go off that much. Whether you want to believe it or not, MKX is still being played. A lot. By a lot of people.

That being said, I feel like NRS is relying too much on MKX's long-term popularity for this. They think it's building anticipation, when its actually just annoying most people. Instead of " I can't wait" it's "hurry the f*ck up already." As much as I love MKX, my stance on KP2 is that NRS should stop playing games and just get it out the door ASAP. The drip and drab thing was cute when MKX was new, but MKX is almost 1 year old already. This far into a fighting game's lifecycle, delaying isn't cute. It's annoying.

The game is on the last leg of its lifecycle, not because it's bad or good, but because video games have a lifecycle. Action/Adventure games such as, say..the Arkham series - those are good for 1 playthrough, maybe a second one. Then it's DONE. Fighting games...if it's not Mortal Kombat, I lose interest in less than a week. A WEEK. No fighter has ever held my interest outside of a few hours of gameplay. But with MK, even diehards like me aren't playing it much anymore because there's other games out there to play. One year is a great lifespan for any game, let alone a fighter. But they need to hurry. Interest is waning fast.

As far as this holding off on the price because "it might not be decided yet," how hard could it be to come up with a number? Really just more of the same crap marketing NRS has been doing. Tyler Landsdown must have really good connections because man does he suck at his job...

You said it perfectly. Exactly how I feel. So much is unclear, so many questions:

-Will the KP2 be released all at once?

-Will the characters release 1 / month?

-What if we already bought those Brazil, Kold War packs, and whatever else we had to pay for separately that wasn't included in KP1?

-Will there be more NEW skin packs besides the "APOCALYPSE" pack?

-Will there still be 1 free skin per patch for each character, if characters are being released 1 by 1?

-Will the Pit be a free stage or do you have to buy it (included when you buy KP2)

-No release date

Seriously this baby info feeding bullshit that they have going is not keeping me interested at all. If I weren't an MK fan, I'd say fuck this.

Very hard when you do not know the complete feature set of your product.

I can 100% confirm that :

1) the apocalypse pack won't be the only pack of new costumes ; proof of it is a tweet by Ed Boon where he stated that Kung Jin is going to have a new costume and Johnny Cage with a tuxedo.

2) the old content was made available for free only to gather the attention of who didn't buy kp1. The brazil skin pack and, unfortunately, Goro sold poorly. That is the main reason they went so guests heavy in mkx.

3) the marketing team wants to please the largest number of fans, so they have to study every word, every date, every frame of a trailer, etc before giving us infos.

An Ed Boon tweet is 100% confirmation? Okay.

Who said the Brazil skins and Goro sold poorly? If it didn't sell well; GREAT, NRS should've known better before they did that shit.

Like a previous user stated, they should really have their shit together before they start this crap. They didn't know they were doing KP2? So what? They've had almost half a year to figure KP2 out, and I am CERTAIN that the decision to do KP2 didn't pop up after Tremor was released.

I swear people sit around making up excuses for NRS.

People equally sit around making up reasons to hate them. Goes both ways. Some people are contrarians for the sake of it.

The thing is... This is a Mortal Kombat forum, full of fans. So it's far more rational that people are not 'making' reasons to hate NRS.

There are always outliers.... but being logical, that doesn't make sense.

You being certain means nothing. I am NOT certain that the decision to do KP2 didn't pop up after Tremor was released. It works both ways.

So what? So to aquire the licences just takes the snap of fingers as does bringing in voice acters in a free schedule and so on? Were they sitting on their hands the whole time doing nothing?

Yes, because ME being certain is MY opinion. Doesn't have to mean anything to you.

Nope. Nope. Nope. All I said was I don't buy that the decision to do KP2 did not come after the release of Tremor. We had original game release sales, KP1 preorders, the sales of JASON (a guest), Tanya, and Predator (another guest). Buy the time they raked in the cash from all of that I am sure they had definitely decided they would do a KP2. They can say it all they want to, and you can eat it up. It'll be you eating tofu, when you were supposed to have steak talking about it tastes great.

Voice actors for who? Neither leatherface or alien speak. Acquiring licenses is somehow preventing them from determining a pricepoint before they release a gameplay trailer?

Sitting on their hands? No. Farting in your face with Bo Rai Cho, yeah.

Not buying it.
