Kotal Kahn leads by pride and inspiration. People trust him and his ideals. He's not a tyrant or a conqueror. He's not meant to be a boss.

A female could work, if she looks strong and dangerous.
But why would you want a female boss if you can have a "shemale" boss? streangth of a man, speed of a woman. Also is it easier to make them look strong and dangerous....

"She hasn't earned it", one of them said (or deserved it, can't remember which exactly).
Cassie as the champion was a great step for diversity and variety. It doesn't have to be some feminist statement - it's just good storytelling to have varied characters. A female lead villain would be awesome.

Cassie didn't earn it, there is no talk of her being the best fighter around or anything and all of the sudden she's the one who beats a super powered Shinnok alone. Also just because you use a woman instead of a man does not equal good storytelling, that's actually sexist lmao.

Cassie didn't kill Shinnok. She got her green aura that's in her because of herancestors, who may I remind you were trained to kill gods.
She only stopped Shinnok, at most knocking him out. She didn't behead him. Raiden did.
This is the exact same thing as "OMG How could Jackie and Takeda beat Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Smoke, Kitana and Sindel!!!!?????". They didn't. They held them off and got their asses kicked. As soon as they left they crumbled to the floor exhausted.
Nobody beat anybody. 2 of the new kids were kicked around by the revs, one of them saved Raiden and the other one was powered up long enough to withstand Corrupted Shinnok's might.
It's all that happened.

She shouldn't have been strong enough to stop Shinnok no matter what imo, maybe if he didn't just absorb earths life force. The problem with Jacqui and Takeda is that they even held them off at all. They were both injured and limping around before LK, KL, and the other revs came back. They shouldn't have been able to hold off just Liu Kang alone and he had others with him.

Queen Sindel can be the evil female boss as she has a great potential to claim the throne of Netherrealm and Outworld ♡♡♡

Thus far in MK, Empowered Sindel was the closest to a female "boss" we've had. She can definitely pull it off. FFS, she killed Cyber Sub-Zero a 3 hit combo punch. She didn't even do anything as nasty as tearing out Jade's stomach or punching Stryker's face in. She gave him a 1 - 2 - 3 combo. And that KILLED a heavily armed and armored cyborg.
Though, then again...Sub-Zero has became the series whipping boy for MK9 so...yeah. Shitting on Sub-Zero in that game wasn't exactly uncommon, so something as simple as a 3 hit punch combo doing him in isn't surprising. Heh.
Case in point though - Sindel was BAD ASS. She isn't anywhere near that powerful on her own, but she took out the entire Earthrealm roster in less than 2 minutes. That's female boss material if there ever was any.
I think in general females as primary antagonists is something we don't see enough of, mainly because it wouldn't be taken as seriously. We're only just now coming into a society where women are viewed as equals to men...shit, women are the primary breadwinners in most households this generation.
I'm ready for a female boss. Doesn't have to be a man-monster like Sheeva, doesn't have to be an oversexualized barbarian bikini-wearing babe either. Empress Kitana has potential...heck, Sindel may even up and be like "Daughter, you suck at ruling. Gimme that crown" and take over the netherrealm. Liu can be the neutered son-in-law who just doesn't speak up, but grumbles to himself about Sindel later.

I can see Kitana being a possible boss considering her position at the end of MKX.

People here don't think Cassie deserved to beat Shinnok, yet if it was, let's say, Smoke, I'm sure everybody would think it's surprising and totally badass, so whatever.
Sindel was shown has the strongest character in MK9 and killed off half the cast so I think we can put the sexism cries at rest, at least temporarily.
But a final boss ultimately needs to be huge and scary, it's just harder to pull off with a female character, at least without her looking like some she-beast.

The problem isn't that Cassie wasn't deserving, it's that it didn't pay off well nor was it set up well either. We technically didn't even see Johnny, or even Raiden or Fujin for that matter (two actual gods, by the way) besting Shinnok in combat... they just tricked him by stalling for time until he could kick the amulet to Raiden to trap him because Shinnok showed up and owned their asses hard.
It wasn't really earned successfully aside from the 'mystical ancient power' they pulled out of thin air. Now, if they had made her out to be how they originally wrote Liu Kang in the original trilogy then it would've made just a little more sense but here we got absolutely none of that. Liu Kang was someone who trained his entire life for the express purpose of being a martial artist and potentially attending the tournament. We get none of that with Cassie, we're just left to believe she's potentially powerful because of who her parents are (which, by the way, doesn't make someone an expert pianist just because you have two parents who're experts at it). Just being a Special Forces agent doesn't automatically make you one of the most powerful warriors on the planet, sorry, I don't buy that for a second. We needed to see a glimpse of her training, we needed to see with our eyes that she could beat the best of the best and go toe-to-toe with them.
Now, if we'd been given a glimpse of that, a hint that maybe Sonya and Johnny had brought her up to be this amazing, un-defeatable warrior in combat, then maybe I'd be more inclined to believe it but we didn't and I'm stuck feeling unsatisfied by the end result. I'd chalk it up more to bad writing and plot planning than anything else. And yes, I'd have the same issues if were any of the new, younger males as well. They needed to show the backstory to improve the payoff but unfortunately, they didn't go that route and we were left to just assume things.

Their parents probably trained them, and or sent them to be trained by Masters.
They are pretty much the only people with knowledge of magic, realms, and Outworld. It`s not as if they`re normal, lazy, privliged American teens...
They`re normal, lazy, privlidged American teens, with Magic!
In the MK Universe, the fighters are the equivalent of Superheroes.
``The tournament had rules... This time, anything goes!``
Liu Kang may`ve been stronger, but the nature of the threat, and conditions were different. Seems Cage`s family line was pretty much the same deal as Liu Kang. Fighter for the Gods, but with different abilities. Who knows why he wasn`t aware of his heritage, but hopefully it get`s further explained.

I would like to point out Liu Kang's bios in the original trilogy didn't say anything about his abilities or his past, just that he fought in the tournament and hates Shang Tsung.
He wasn't considered legendary until MK4 and wasn't a chosen one by Raiden until MK9.

While this is technically true, the excuse is that they were limited to a paragraph a game for a bio and didn't have the tools to expand the narrative to include that information.
Not only did they have the tools to do so in MKX, they blatantly decided not to follow through with the option, deciding instead to place everything about Cassie's powers in the form of a thinly veiled, what can only be compared to a, MacGuffin and blind assumptions which is just shitty, shitty storytelling.
Back then I give them a pass due to limitation of technology. Now there is just no excuse. All that was really necessary was one flashback scene where shes training with someone and impresses, say for example, Bo' Rai Cho and he drops a line about her abilities being unique, or impressing Raiden, or SOMETHING. Not just a dropped line of dialogue that, even though it's supposed to make even Johnny look cooler, wasn't even added to improve his character, it was solely added so Cassie could have an excuse to win and thus gives no further explanation on said abilities. As I said before, shitty shitty storytelling.

I like to think it had nothing to do with her being a female and everything to do with her just being an awful character. But that's just me I guess.
Female boss? Sounds good.
We already have one female boss (sub-boss) and she first appeared in MKX. Not only as a new character but as well as the first female sub boss in the series. And it is canon. If you play story mode, then you know that the boss is Shinnok/Corrupted Shinnok. And who's the one you need to fight before him? Of course, D'vorah, the kick-ass one.
I love her, and I love the way that NRS made her so evil and deceptive. Would have been too boring for her to stay at Kotal Kahn's side. I hope she will get a big role in the next MK game as well.

I havent seen or played the story mode in mkx. But it seems that all the warriors lost to shinnok except cassie?
If thats so, its a really big insult to the gods and to the warriors that were there many years before Cassie. if NRS want it to make sense that the older warriors have aged so much that they were no match for shinnok, it still wouln'd make sense. Cassie is there for the first time and she beats shinnok. lol it makes shinnok a real pussy than. cheap writing idd... not surprised tho

I can't see them putting Sindel as a final boss. She is powerful enough, but storywise, I think she hit her peak in MK9 when she killed off everybody. It would be a fool's errand to try and top that. Kitana would be a better choice, or possibly even a new character.
