I like him in UMK3/MKT and in MK9, but his MKA and new design suck IMO.

Anyway idk, NRS apparently didn't think he needed to be playable in this game, and weren't going to charge for him as DLC two games in a row.

Because he's too pretty...and some MK fans just can't relate.

If they weren't gonna make us pay for the same dlc twice, he shoulda just been outright playabe or unlockable, not this fightable npc outrage.
Though on one hand, it harkens back to the secret fights with Reptile, Noob/Smoke/Jade.
Still feels like a slap in the face...

I loved his MKA primary outfit, and his current MKX one.
Don't really care for his MKA alt or MK9 outfit, but it's not that big a deal.

Even though I hate that purple scumbag, he should've been in the game. Not as DLC because paying for the same character twice in a row is shitty. But as a launch roster character since he's never been in any starting roster. (Not counting Trilogy or Armageddon)

Saddest part is he had more plot relevance than a good majority of the cast, and STILL doesn't make the cut. NRS likes trolling Rain fans almost as much as Fujin fans it seems.

They seem to have placed him exactly where they want him. In that grey area where he is present, he has relevance, and he is fightable, just, at the same time is also an untouchable. A constant tease it would seem.

And aside from being fightable, same could be said of Fujin's current status.

But you know at this point, what else could I really do with my remaining hope besides place it in a MK11 inclusion? So might as well just wait and see what happens.

I thought that was one of the few aspects that saved this game. For me, it was the best variation of all they presented, sadly one we will never use ourselves.
I liked his Armageddon design too. Talk about different opinions....I couldn't disagree more with what you wrote.

By design I mean costume lol I liked his original palette swap look, and his MK9 costume was REALLY good, but I don't like his MKA or MKX costumes at all :/

I liked his MK9 costume as well. I think if they had made him a main roster character in MKX he would have had one costume to represent the nobility side and the other to be more sleek like his ninja/outworld general side.

It's weird that they would give his character so much more character development (with the huge potential to be a dark edenian realm god in his mk9 ending or his position to be a major component in an edenian resistance in the mkx timeline) only to have him shelved. He has much more story line potential IMO then a lot of the other characters. My opinion may be biased though since I always favored the mythological lore in mk rather than the earthrealm more-grounded characters.

I'm going to be an asshole here and ask why we have countless/endless discussions about characters that didn't make the cut almost a year after the game's launch. It's unhealthy obsession, like refusing to acknowledge that a loved one has passed. Plus, unlike MANY other characters Rain actually got his chance to be rebooted.

The further we move away from their pallet swap templates and distinguish them as their own characters the better.

Rain makes no sense dressed as a ninja because he isn't one. Ermac makes no sense dressed that way because he isn't one. Reptile makes no sense dressed like that because he's a fucking lizard who can camouflage himself. He doesn't need to be dressed stealthily. And same for Noob Saibot. He's a wraith not a ninja.

But... that's what they've been doing these last few games. Ermac looks like a decomposing body in a wizard attire. Rain looks more like Edenian royalty. Reptile was wearing an armor in MK9 and bones in MKX. The hints to their past as pallette swap ninjas are present, but you can't say that "we need to move away" from it because they've been doing exactly that.

I think that was to people who STILL want them to look like palette swaps. The nostalgia is strong with these ones.
