End of MK......

posted07/27/2008 11:17 PM (UTC)byVash_15As we all know, every series has an end (except for Final Fantasy, oh gawd). And although this series is 16 years strong, it has to end soemtime, and although none of us would like to admit it, Mortal Kombat won't last forever. Although no one may think about it, I'm bringing it up, how much longer do YOU think MK will last?

About 20-50 more years, if not more.
Why think of the end now? You should think more of what to expect for the next game rather than trying to figure out the date of the end of Mortal Kombat. Unless Boon has a son who he'll try to get to take his place once his work is done, you'll have his son to thank for re-living MK... or it could be a daughter, one might never know.

It'll end when Ed Boon dies.

Nothing to be overly skeptical about mate. You don't understand how the industry works, which is quite understandable. Believe me, MK is almost 20 years old, and it will go for another 20. I can bet on it.

Dude, Midway is not such a small company, you know?
Mortal Kombat is Midways most beloved child, as it is it's money making machine, and so, i highly doubt that they'll let MK just be forgotten. I mean, time passes us by, and who knows if in the next 16 years, Ed, Vogel, Carlos Pesina etc will still be working in the company?
What i'm saying is that, when the team developing MK right now is off, for any kind of reason, Midway will most probably name some other team to continue the series. Or reboot it? Who knows?
Speaking of wich, wasn't Shaolin Monks developed and produced by another Midway team, other than Boon's? Don't worry, Midway won't let MK die... only if they become bankrupt.. but even then, there must be some company that'll wish to buy MK's rights. Look what happened to the great SNK, it now is know has SNK Playmore because of a ressurection miracle.

Even if they stop making MK games, which I doubt, MK will always live on in one form or another. Whether it's in comic books, TV, Movies, Books, or in the hearts of all here at MKO. *sheds tear*
