Watched episode 6 wish it was a bit longer.

I'm glad im not the only 1 who thought the jungle was boring. Out of the MKX stages so far. In my order of best to worst are.

The Cove its by far my favorite.
Snow Forest is my 2nd.
Outworld Marketplace.
Then the Jungle which just looks ok. It's def not the Living Forest from MK2/MK9

(For the podcast.) How would you order these stages from your favorite to least favorite.

(For the podcast.) What are your fav stages from mk 1 - 2011. If you had pick 1 stage from each game.

mine are

Pit MK
Deadpool MK2
Graveyard MK3
Reptiles Lair MK4
Palace Grounds MKDA
Dark Prison MKD
Tekunin Warship MKA
Shang Tsung Flesh Pits MK 2011

(For the podcast.) Will you will be doing another stage video when more stages get revealed.

(For the podcast.) Do you think every stage should have a fatality.

I'd love if every stage had a fatality kinda wish mk did do that for every game but its also alot of work.

(For the podcast.) Would you like to see stage tiers in MKX and if so would you like every stage to have atleast 1 tier.

I'd love to see stage tiers return. I thought it was interesting to see more interactions in the levels.

(For the podcast.) Would you like to see morning/daytime/nightime variations of all stages in MKX.

I enjoyed it in MK9.

(For the podcast.) Would you like an option to turn on various weather/particle effects to keep the stages interesting so maybe 1 person has no same stage or if they do it may have different weather effect or just be during the day instead of midnight.

There could even be particle effects like say deadpool returns acid splashes onto the platform it might melt away the stage adding something new to the fight.

turning on rain, wind, snow, sleet, debris, leaves, etc on or off.

(For the podcast.) Should all stages have interactions.

i say the more options the better but i know it takes alot of programing but i dont care.

(For the podcast.) If choosing the different time of day in a stage effects the music of the level would you like it. Like night would be faster paced more creepy sounding. Drums and stuff would beat faster were morning version would be slower paced but built up as however the fight went on.

For me the more options the better plus it makes things feel more polished in my opinion.

I orginally wanted to ask these questions before i had the topic of you guys video but didn't have the time to watch everything the day it came out and think up questions so i guess better later then never. Thanks for the shoutout by the way. keep up the goodwork you guys. If you can bring other mk users on your podcast it brings more stuff to the discussion which is always good.

Yes, and I consider MK3 and MK4 to be the complete betrayal of what MK originally was aesthetically.

That statement only half makes sense to me. MK4's artstyle looks a lot like MK2's, there's nothing different from the series norm in that game's aesthetic unless you're just bitching about the blocky polygonal graphics.

I would agree on MK3 though...except that that's an example of a time where we actually do know the creators' intentions behind the scenes. MK3 has a deliberately different setting from MK1 and 2 for storyline purposes. MK1 was about a kung fu tournament on a Chinese guy's private island and MK2 was about another kung fu tournament, and being introduced to the alien horrors of Outworld, whereas MK3 is about the war going public and attacking the modern world, so all the stages needed to look like New York City and the new characters introduced in that installment like Kabal and Stryker needed to look like modern Earth people instead of kung tu traditionalists, ninjas, or monsters from another dimension.

Like I said, if I know WHY an artist chose to do something, even if I don't like the art, understanding the reason behind it makes it more acceptable to me.

I don't know WHY the MK9 artists decided to, for example, turn Kahn's arena from a Japanese-looking structure with a purple and orange sky into a stereotypically Greek/Roman coliseum with a blue sky...thus the MK9 Koliseum offends me as a Mortal Kombat fan.

I was not a fan of Stryker ever.

He is not the Punisher.

But his x- ray was fun in MK9 I give him that.

My favorite fatality he had was his bomb fatality in MK3.

My favorite outfit he had was his primary outfit in MK9.

I just never really got into him as a character even with the overhaul in MK9.

What character are you guys doing for the next podcast ?

If I can make a request how about scarlet for the next character.

If Scarlet were to return what variations would you guys want ? (Podcast)

I'd like to see her get a powered up variation were her body is more liquid in the form of blood were she can consume less hits but give more damage.

Another variation I could see every drop of blood can create traps in the form of blood bombs there could be random types of explosions like sticky blood, blood spikes in the form of tendrils or just blood burst were it launches characters in he air for various pop ups/juggles/air combos.

Another variation I could see is a healer every time she does more then a 3 hit combo she zaps bit of life from her opponent and gives it to her. Think of it like Thanos super in Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 were he uses the soul gem to suck back some life.

What fatality's would you guys give her ?
(podcast)

id like to see her have a meld fatality were she sticks herself to the opponent then decides to detach think it look epic. Think of it like a Siamese twin.

Another fatality I could see is she forms into a puddle goes into the opponents mouth and her body becomes bloody tendrils that poke out from the fighter to keep the fighter from running away. she then melts/boils away there insides creating a gooey mess. Then reappears from blood to her human form does cool pose fatality.

What would she do since Kahn is out of the picture ?
(Podcast)

For this I'd wouldn't have an idea maybe be a loner. I wouldn't really like to see her be a henchman again even though she was created for that purpose.

I think Sub-Zero would be interesting...both of them. Discussing both Bi-Han and Kuai Liang and what they've become in Noob Saibot and Cyber Sub-Zero

Me being a die hard Sub-Zero fan, I wouldn't mind you guys talking about Skarlet and see if there's anything that can be done with her.

What I'm referring to is the whole, "Kahn being dead" and how "she only takes orders from him" kind of thing. Same goes with Ermac since he's in that position, and to be honest, I don't ever want the possibility of one of the souls he possesses take over. That's just lame and it would kill the character, in my opinion.

Would Skarlet basically become someone like the clones from The Island and become some... random character that starts questioning as to what the world really is and such? Or would something different happen, let's say, she somehow becomes a puppet of someone else, and that someone else is someone who we'd least suspect.

Because her working for Quan Chi just is overdoing the entire story since you have the good guys in his possession and such. I don't think we need to have one more because she's master-less.

There are three particular characters that I have strongly advised my fellow hosts we should only do the retrospective on if the rest of the episode is very short and we have a lot of extra time to kill.

They are Sub-Zero, Kitana, and Liu Kang.

I could listen about Kitana for hours and hours. Go for it! grin

If you're going to be shorter on time, since you guys already talked about Fujin and Shinnok quite a bit in the 'Top10 characters to return' episode, I'd love to hear your thoughts on Ermac and Kung Lao.

Keep it going guys! smile

- I could bitch about the griddy graphics, but that is an entirely different matter. I have picked apart MK4 hen I needed to crack it for the PC version to work, and that game, well, suffice to say, if the animations were not there, that game could have looked great, and not outdated.

-And Deception, Armageddon somewhat. And I am ambivalent to DC and MK9 I actually likefor what it did. Not necessarily for what it is.

-the choice of bitching or comlaining is a null option for me. Any author who caves in feels like accomodation to me. That actually is the reason why I gopt to publish fantasy, not necessarily because I am an artist with words, but because I turned upside down the status quo and the established norms.

I absolutely do not like fan service in anyway. Mostly because people only use two options: wink wink nudge nudge type, are we cool, huh throwins that detract from the overall thing, and then there is the I can get better ratings if I do what the fans want... Rarely does it conincide with the better choice: good example, the death of Jason Todd.

When it comes down to it, even if I use an open, but intellectually loaned world as the set of my stories (even multi-author worlds have a basic grid of rule set down), but the story is ultimately my creation. There is a framework for the most basic rules, that is all. The only respectablebitching would be if I directly contradicted the set rules, but then it would not get published.

Just to give you a hint of how extensive it can be. Here is a glossary, ONLY the glossary of Ynev, the world. It is colossal.:
http://kronikak.hu/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/ynevszoszedetev50mgkalandozok.pdf

The point is not wether to make them like it, some people have aversions to stuff. I cannot stand for example romances. Nevertheless, it is a binary choice: like it, read it or don't. Same way with games: I play MK1 to this day, I do not play MK3. That does not mean I cannot enjoy the series just because I cannot stand a few installments.

Robocop 3does not invalidate Robocop 1...

Discussing things is not the same as bitching about it. I never sent demands to NRS on how to do stuff or something like that.

When it comes to the stages in MKX, I get that some people don't like the look of them. Or at least have the complaint of "This is not Mortal Kombat" because there is nothing very mystical or Outworldy about them. Not off the bat at least. The Cove is the one that we can most easily attribute to MK because of all the freaky shit in the background. The shattered sky, the giant skull shaped rock face, the corpses in the water and such. It's the only stage that right off the bat evokes the feeling of Outworld. And for me, it's my second favorite stage with the Forest being number 1.

The Forest is my favorite since, like cyborg I love the snowy environments. And if it really is outside of the Lin Kuei temple it's the best Lin Kuei associated background we've had. Ever. And I know that half the crew on the podcast might feel like it's just trees in the background, but looking closely it really isn't. My favorite little details in the background are the dead warriors leaning or laying against the rocks and what looks like wolves skulking in the background. This is the only stage that feels imposing or dangerous in my opinion so far. It's dark, it's cold, if the other fighter doesn't kill you the wolves probably will. It really is my favorite stage shown so far.

The Outworld Marketplace is an interesting stage because it paints Outworld in a different light. For 19 years we've been shown that Outworld is this shitty place ruled by a guy who dresses his top assassins in revealing costumes. Which, whatever I always thought Kahn ruled it like something out of Conan. So now we get this stage that has a bright sun, people going about their business buying fruit and turning the crank on whatever that thing in the background is. And of all the stages this is the one that fans seem to have the strongest "This isn't MK" response to. It doesn't bother me personally. But I've always thought that perhaps Outworld was a decent looking place before Kahn took over and started to merge the realms. And a bright sky isn't necessarily unusual for Outworld. The Dragon King's tomb and Sindel's desert also had blue skies. In short this stage shows us a new Outworld without Kahn and that's interesting to me, so it's got to count for something.

There isn't much to say about the jungle really. It's technically a very impressive stage with the lighting, the atmosphere and foliage. But it's a jungle. Which is fine, but maybe a night time version, like mentioned in the podcast could be great, something that evokes the Predator movie.

When it comes to Stryker, I never really thought much of the character. I played UMK3 when was like 12 or 13 so picking Stryker was something I would do to just cheese my friend with the grenades and unloading the gun. The fact that he looked average wasn't even something that crossed my mind until I got older. The time I started to really pay attention to Stryker, or at least had some ideas for him was when I ran into him in the Realm of Order in Deception's Konquest mode. It's where I got the idea for his bio card that Aculeus was so kind enough to do a collab with me from.

MK9 did for Stryker what, in my opinion MKD did for Ermac, where they really made a character that you can get invested in not just from a gameplay perspective but as a character and what makes them cool. It really is a shame that the NRS put all of this great work into selling the character and really made him a badass only to kill him off.

This might help.

Cassie Cage vs. Kotal Kahn

At 1:48 you can hear the wolf bark then scamper off just behind Kotal and Cassie. He goes from the right to left. It's kind of fast though but you can definitely see it.

Yeah, I see it now.

I wish it were a bit more prominent than just a silhouette, and/or stood on the left side of the stage where it's more empty...but at least it makes noise, that gives the stage some personality.

Well it also gets closer to the fighters. It starts off way in the back and then stalks them through the trees, moving left to right and getting closer.
