I like Baraka, at least in the 3d ones.In MK2 i hated him, he was annoying and imo his fatalities were too simple and utter garbage.

Still, his story and look in MK2 is what made me like him. I like how he's connected to Mileena, makes his storyline much more interesting.I also like his specials.

In MKT he wasn't much better gameplay wise imo because i thought he was weak.He didn't have many or at all new specials, but graphically he looked better. His story was still good, but his fatalities were still the garbage they were in MK2.

I never played MKG, but his look is better than the 2d, but still looks very weird. He also had the same stupid fatalities like he did in the 2d mks, just in 3d. His story is still pretty good imo.

MKD was my favorite game he was in imo. He played great, and he did good damage. Also, finally he got new and pretty cool fatalities! His look was great, best of all of them imo. Story is good, but going down hill imo.

MKSM he wasn't in much, but he looked cool. He was fun to play in this game, but didn't expand on his storyline.

MKA he's not fun to play as; he's too weak, and nothing like MKD. His look is the same as MKD, but his story is actaully worse than MKD.

All in all, Baraka is a neat character that hasn't always been useful gameplay wise, but made up for it story and look.smile

Well, Baraka is a nostalgic character with his monsterous look and those blades of his.

From a gameplay perspective, he is fun to use and he's always been decent, never great. For some reason, I enjoy using his Silat style a lot.

One of Baraka's greatest weaknesses is that he's such a 1-dimensional character, something I greatly HATE about him. He's always serving master after master, and there are hints in his endings about him possibly turning against some of them. The thing is, even if that does happen, where can his story possibly go? Does he become his own ruler like in his MK2 ending? Then what?

Honestly, Baraka's storyline is stale, redundant, and flat out boring. In addition, he's gotten ZERO character development. Because of things like this, I feel it's best that Baraka dies and never returns.

1. He got that new Blade Spin move.

2. He looked exactly the same, graphically.

I never liked him, since his story has always been garbage.

Agreed.
Even if he did betray a master, I don't see it being effective at all unless he's not the only one in on it. If he turned against the Dragon King and attempted to take over, his ass would be grass. He sort of betrayed Shao Kahn by ditching him, but obviously, he couldn't have been very brave and open about it or he would've been dead. Baraka's hinted betrayals in his endings are obviously bull, and would depend on him somehow shedding the servant mentality, growing a pair, and obtaining extra power from somewhere.
Unlike fellow member of the Order of Constant Servitude, Reptile, Baraka seems to have little to no hope of expanding his story. He's fun to play as, but his lack of provocative story makes him a real bore, and I'm not looking forward to seeing him in a future Mortal Kombat.

Meh, I never really liked Baraka. His storyline is getting stale as hell and is best left to be killed by Mileena imo. He had me there for a bit in MK2 but afterwards, he is becoming a joke to me.

He is okay to use in the games, but not one of my favorites.

Baraka is hands down my favorite freak. I was sold on him the first time I saw him. I would like to see him cast in a different light however. One look at Baraka is more than enough to get a sense of exactly who he is, a monster. It's written all over him. But what if something happened to make him somewhat respectable or maybe even a bit heroic? He and his race has always been used and then spat upon by those in power. I could picture a Tarkatan genocide and Baraka rising up to try and find another path for his people to follow, after realizing that the path of mindless bloodshed would only lead them to destruction. Or something like that. I like his berserker personality, but maybe he could be something more.

Since when in MK have the Tarkata been used and spat upon by their master?

Heh, if you'd gone any further, that would've been scary:
"It is time that the Tarkatan proletariat rose up against their oppressive master, the capitalist Emperor Shao Kahn! We shall band together, all us ugly mutants with blades in our forearms, and make our tyrannical, bourgeois Emperor and his followers bleed! The Revolution will succeed! Peace, bread, and land for all!"

baraka could easily be given a great story- sure, he hasn't had on yet, but all the midway guys need to do is write him one

Show MK to someone who never played it before and ask them a month later what they remember. Baraka will be in there as his look and blades fighting style are so iconic.

I always thought the B-man was cool. Sure, he required somebody to be a manservant towards, but there are some things that may have went oh-so-wrong but oh-so-right in breeding this Tarkatan menace.

Every time I think of Baraka, I think of that fight with Mileena in the opening scene of Deception.

Yeah, Baraka's character has no doubt become bigger in the MK universe of late. His ending in MKA was pretty good, but a little predictable lol. I liked the choice he gave Mileena lol

Baraka is my second favorite MK Warrior. I love his monstrous look, long spikey blades, and his leadership towards the Tarkatan Horde. Though he had always been a servant for big bosses and turned on them which gets old, I just can't help loving him as the big mutant berzerker he is.

I like Baraka. I think he's a fun character.

He's fun to play as. He's got fun moves (his slice and dice is his best I think). And he has a totally fitting look for MK which is dark and powerful.

He's one of the characters that I hope makes it to next-gen. I do agree that he needs to get a better story, but it won't stop me from liking him if he remains a servant. Either way, he's fun and cool. His little thing that had going with Mileena in MKD was pretty interesting too.

It's more than just his story that's lackluster. It's his character that is outdone by someone like Drahmin. They are both vicious, bloodthirsty monsters who love to destroy and torment others. However, Drahmin has depth as he deals with insanity, which he tries to keep at bay by wearing his mask, the Face of Kun-Lo. There's also Drahmin's role as the Oni-Tormentor, tormenting the damned in the lower regions of the Netherrealm.

Baraka, on the other hand, is basically this evil henchman that goes from master to master, following some kind of Tarkatan tradition to serve a powerful master, for reasons that aren't explained. Yeah, sure, there could be some who might argue that this gives him a bit of depth. But at the end of the day, he's a pretty standard villain, nothing special. I guess he's supposed to be the obligatory 1-dimensional henchman who loves to to fight and kill.

But other than that, yeah, I'll agree that he is kind of fun to play as, probably more so in the 2D MK games. From a gameplay perspective, as far as I know, he's been pretty good, but never great.

As a child I always knew that Baraka was bad news. I mean, with that face and those blades, we're dealing with a real threat here. Though he was quite frightening I never felt compelled to use him all that much. I was never a Baraka user until I used him in Armageddon. Now I know the greatness that is Baraka. I love his new primary design. Its nothing spectacular but it works so well all the same; his alternate is interesting as well. Baraka's moves and combos work oh so well; and those blades.......well lets just say he ain't afraid to cut a man.

Awesome character, amazing design, excellent moves, nostalgic....all he needs is a more developed storyline.

I really like Baraka, but he needs to evolve (story-wise).
