Post things you like and hate about Rain. Me, I loved him since I first seen him on UMK3 arcade demos.

He is just too charaasmatic for me not to like. Plus Purple is my 2nd fav color. He also is a ninja and me being black and all means I love ninjas. Rain is gonna be on MK8 I hope.

Rain together with ermac are my fav ninjas... Don't know how or why, but I liked them from the begining.Rain's story is what I like most from him, and his moves in UMK3 were cool als, I rarely got hit when I played with him ... the gravity control orb always saved me lol.

Since his MKA bio has been released, I have less estimation for him and Taven should kick his ass. According to his storyline, it seems the Midaway does'nt have many intentions in adding him into a next MK game.

I don't mean I hate Rain. I love ninjas but his bio horribly sucks.

Rain - one of the unsung interesting characters of Mortal Kombat. I hope he goes on to be in Mortal Kombat 8. The way they've developed him, it'd be a damn shame if he died now.

Rain was a somewhat overrated and underrated character back in the day. There really wasn't much going for his story, and we hadn't seen him in another MK game again (not counting MKD's Konquest mode) until MKA itself.

This new story, with him being the half-brother of Taven and Daegon, is pretty interesting. I'd like to see him return, partially as Taven's main antagonist, but have him do other things.

Gameplay-wise, he was super cheap in UMK3 and MKT. In MKA, I hear he's pretty good, but I'm not that fond of his gameplay style. I can kind of picture him using Zi Ran Men, but there are other styles I see fitting him like Hua Chuan, Hapkido, etc. The Storm Sword is ok, though I would've liked him with something such as a Trident.

I like his MKA primary. It gave a very deceiving look, making some think he would be a good guy. While I wanted him to be kind of neutral-ish, I think in the end, him being evil is a good idea as Tanya is the only other evil Edenian character in MK.

Overall, with Rain's new story direction, I see potential for him in the future.

MKT Rain was cool. He had those tricky special moves using lightining and orbs, that I loved.

I dont find his MKA alternate costume too appealing. Rain definitely has potential for being in MK8.

Back in Trilogy, Rain was one of those characters I saw potential in...but wasn't too attached to him. When I first saw him, my immediate thought was "Yeesh, ANOTHER ninja..?" Even though his gameplay was broken, I wasn't that into using him either.

But I was vaguely interested in his story...mainly by association with Kitana. Because Kitana is one of my favorite characters, I was therefore at least somewhat interested in characters that tied to her story. And Rain was among them. But even then, I didn't really get into Rain's story until I thought about his possible crush on Kitana.

Now I don't know about anyone else, but I actually didn't think of the Rain/Kitana thing because of the TV show. Truth be told, I came up with that interpretation because I had misread Rain's ending.
Rain's ending states that Kitana turns him against Kahn and he joins Earth's fighters. However, he disappears during a battle which makes everyone think he's a coward...so he goes on a suicide mission to prove himself. Now I thought it said that he wanted to prove himself to Kitana specifically...which is why I thought that he might have some feelings for her. And that kind of got the ball rolling in my head.
Course, I eventually re-read the ending and saw that it doesn't specify he wanted to prove himself to Kitana....but by then, I had grown to like the idea so I said screw it. I even incorporated it into my Kitana fan fic to creat a little triangle to the Liu Kang/Kitana romance.

I figured Rain would benefit with a good revamp...much like Ermac did. I was looking forward to what would be done with him when they announced he was coming back in Armageddon. The biggest question was what side would he be on.

I was for any idea. I liked the idea of him being good and trying to prove himself to Kitana, despite being a spineless schmuck. But I also liked the idea of him being an evil, cowardly prick. My only concern there was that would make him too much like Tanya...hence why I supported the idea of he and Tanya becoming MK's Bonnie & Clyde. I also liked the idea of him being neutral and bing in it for himself or caught in the middle.

I was pleasently surprised by the revelation that he's Taven & Daegon's half-brother. A nice twist and I like that now he's running around telling people he's a Prince of Edenia. This has got me interested in his having a crush on Kitana again. Like suppose he runs into her and starts going on about how they should be together now that he knows...or believes he is...royalty.

I was disappointed that his bio made no mention of what happened to him during and after MK3. Did Kitana turn him against Kahn? Was there a suicide mission or at least, an attempted suicide mission? Or was he serving Kahn all along? Where's be been all this time?
I guess that stuff will have to remain fan speculation.

I initially figured Rain would be one of those characters they brought back in Armageddon just to kill off. But his being Taven/Daegon's half-brother is a worth-while twist that could go place is Taven comes back. And if Kitana comes back...like I said, I like the idea of what his potential crush on her can mean since he's evil and claiming he's a Prince.

Rain is my favorite ninja!

His clothing is stylish and his specials are visually pleasing and practical. Though I must admit I find it a bit difficult to fight as him. One particular problem I have is his CS combo. I have PS2 and it seems DAMN impossible to pull off his CS combo into Storm Sword.

In the future, I'd like to see an "alliance" between him, Tanya, and Mileena to try to overtake Edenia and them see them all turn on each other.

During UMK3 and MKT, I thought Rain was a fun character.

In Armageddon, I think he's an AMAZING character. His enhanced look is spectacular and his lightning move is better.

I really dislike zi ran men for him because it just doesn't seem to suit him. They should have let him keep shorin ryu.

I'm also not too impressed with his new bio. Being Taven's half brother and all doesn't seem to go with him. In MK3, he was rather secretive and I wish he would have stayed that way, doing things in the shadows and getting what he wants in stealthy ways.

By the way people....

IS RAIN ATMOKINETIC?

I think he is but I'm not sure. We already have a telekinetic ninja, and with Rain, he might have an atmokinetic ninja.

I think atmokinesis is an excellent and interesting special ability choice for him.

I love Rain. Him and Ermac are my favorite ninjas. I love playing with him in UMK3 (he was extremely broken) and he does look pretty good in MK:A.

I pretty much agree with the Blind Xiahou on Rain. I can't really say much because in old posts I talked a lot about Rain -- mainly before his little bitty bio came out, and then reactionary posts afterward. I guess I'm a little rained out. But yes, I thought he would be neutral, too, since the "taking over edenia rarr" thing seems to be new. He could be mad, after all, Kitana lied about his father (I think?). I also like XiahouDun's idea about Tanya and Rain being Bonnie and Clyde, because I had also been thinking about that team-up.

I love his new look, love Zi Ran Men on him -- I think it's far more fitting for him than it was for Tanya. Zi Ran Men is "nature boxing"; going with the flow, like water. Masters of Zi Ran Men are so balanced and light on their feet, they can walk on the rims of empty baskets! It's also very ninja-esque. I think Shinto-Ryu or some other Karate wouldn't be as fitting, because they're. . . well, Karate tournaments are like you get in one, solid, chambered punch, and "Point!" You could hit your opponent a million times, but if they're quick jabs, then they don't count in Karate. I don't see that in his personality. I see the unique and sort of fancy stance they chose for Zi Ran Men to fit Rain.

And yes, it's quite stupid to say a martial art is "masculine" or "feminine". Like Chrome said, the only judge would be whether it was practiced more by males or females, but even then things like that change during the course of history (like with the Naginata).

As for being an. . . "atmomancer", well, yes, he controls the weather. He's like Storm from the X-men, sort of. At least that's what I gather.

Yeah, that's what I think too, but it's still not clear if he controls all weather elements or just lightning and water.

I hope they elaborate on that in the future.

P.S. I did not like his water moves in MKA. His charge attack is alright (it takes off way too fast though. You can't even see it coming), but his water spray and puddle teleport were dumb to me.

I wonder what fatalities they would have given him if real fatalities had been in the game. Hopefully a lightning-based one like in MKT.

Well, the super-soaker move was pretty silly, but I thought that his teleport was badass. It kind of reminded me of Alex Mac after a while, but it's really, really cool.

And, at least his special moves are useful. Except for the lightning, because it takes so long everyone can see it coming.

Don't really care about him,
if he dies who cares
I've always been a big Rain fan. I love his new look, and his Hydro Pump, and Puddle Teleport. I hate that stupid kick move though.

I'm glad we finally have a decent story, and explaination of his powers now. Whenever I hear Argus, I always remember the Zelda:LttP boss from the Water Gate dungeon. Argus, in my mind is associated with water, so Rain being his son, and having water powers makes sense to me.

I'm also pleased they used part of a Rain theory I used to propgate.
In my idea, Rain was the half-mortal/half-god son of Raiden. It cited similar powers, and similar naming: Rai(de)n. I proposed that the Edenian general slain by Kahn was a foster father.

I was disappointed by Rain's oddly short MKA bio. I sincerely hope Rain returns for MK8, so his story can be further explored. Armageddon was supposed to bring closure to the current storylines, but instead it opened up a whole slew of new questions. MK8 wont be the completely new story it was originally supposed to be...

I completely agree. Rather than bringing an end to the current-gen stories, it only continued them. I wanna see where the characters go with their new goals now.
Rain is fav because i say in my own oppion "that he has the best fatality for the ninja's and ermac".

I like Rain and I guess he is the ninja with the best outfit, one thing that will instantly make me love a character. I also think his special moves are cool, divine if I may notice... And why is everyone disappointed by the newly discovered fact that he is a half-brother of Taven (not "secret" anymore) ? I started to like Rain even more after I found out about his origins, it gives him a more threatening personality.

I like Rain at MKt too. I had the strategy to freeze my enemy and when he stands up from falling he freezes again. Also his thunder at MKT is very funny because the enemy makes funny slips (especially if he is hit on air). It is too bad that Rain wasnt put in more MKssad. And thats bad for many more
Ever since I beat MKA konquest mode, I've been wonderin' something...
If Rain was the son of Argus, could there be a chance that Rain could have been the savior of the realms? If Taven made the kombatants stronger, would that mean that Rain's win could have been one of the two forseen outcomes (Death or depowering)?

No, it's not possible as Rain wasn't part of the quest, and he doesn't have that special armor that plays a role in the fate of the kombatants.

His plot in dull and his character is not dealt with. He's an alright character but i'd prefer the other ninjas. He's not a bad character, just alittle boring to me.

I don't really like Rain. I remember way back he had a cool kick that sent you flying off one side of the screen and back from the other side. I wish this was a special move in MKA. Instead I got water moves that I didn't like and a lightning move that I've never hit anyone with. I think his costume was not a surprise because I think it was in the MKDA krypt.
