#1 belongs to Mokap in my book... but I guess 2-legged Motaro really was a joke...

lol, can't wait to see all the Rain fans butthurt over this.... I agree with most except Bo Rai Cho and Stryker (would've agreed if we were in MK3).

And WHY would we give a damn what some moron who still has an opinion say?

Their reasons for hating some characters are just stupid...why should being named after a Prince song make you a bad character? Also, while centaur Motaro was insanely cool, I thought Minotaur Motaro (or "Minotaro") was pretty cool too. And while I get Meat was a joke character, I actually thought he fought pretty well in Armageddon. I totally agree with Bo Rai Cho, Mokap, Kobra, and maybe Darrius, but not the others at all. And really? Zombie Liu Kang? He actually made the character interesting for once...
Here's the top 10 BEST characters. Much better in my opinion:

As much as I respect people's opinions for best and worst characters, I'm going to have to disagree with their reasonings behind certain characters they dislike.
Bo Rai Cho - They don't know how Liu Kang became the champion by learning off of this guy... They clearly explain what he does as a trainer throughout the games.
Darrius/Kobra - Just because they look alike some characters we know in the media and other games, doesn't mean that's a sole purpose to hate them... Darrius, even though his dismemberment fatality was by far the dumbest fatality I've seen, he was actually decent... And yes, Kobra was too.
Mokap - That was not a sign of being lazy on the development team, he was created as a dedication to one of their long time working member, Carlos Pesina.
Stryker - I don't seen the fatness they're talking about and I still wear backward hats to this day... The look is still in. Thank goodness that they didn't decide to make his hat sideways, then I would have a bigger problem.
And I'm not sure if they were joking on trying to figure out why they took Motaro's legs away, everyone should know the reasoning behind it.
I know, it's an opinion, but like I said, some of their reasoning behind why this character made it to the list was kinda cheap, unfunny and just not even accurate. Screwattack does have Angry Video Game Nerd, I enjoy watching that, just not when people don't know how Motaro's legs didn't make it to Armageddon.

I agree with pretty much all of this. Except Stryker. He was a horrifically bad design in MK3, almost as bad as Sheeva, but that whole game was pretty much a joke. And I don't think the "wounds are too deep." They came back and made him awesome which makes up for it IMO.
I also think Mokap should have been #1. They already have a tribute to Carlos Pesina. His name is Raiden. You know, the guy played by Carlos Pesina. They don't need a hokey joke character to give him respect. He already has a place as one of the best characters in the best MK ever made. (Possibly tied for best with this one). As for Motaro, I never really liked him anyway. He premiered when the series was on its way out anyway, so "ruining him" in Armageddon wasn't so bad because he was a goofy-looking character from a goofy looking game anyway. He could have been farther down the list.
I hope we never see Darrius and Kobra again either. Bo Rai Cho, I could maybe live with, if they completely revamp his character, take out the puke and fart jokes, and make him into a believable master teacher.
Surprised they didn't put Kira on the list. I love her, but I know she gets a lot of hate from practically everyone. I hope she's either DLC or in MK10. Her and Kano will be my number one tag team.

Darrius would have been cool had they stuck with his original storyline, Kobra and Kira suck ass.

The irony that you are a Rain fan and if we've learnt anything on this forum it's that Rain fans never shut the fuck up.

Reasons didn't make any sense for many, especially Rain and Stryker. lol @ he's wearing purple oh noes, I hate him!! and Who wears backwards caps? A lot of people actually, I see at least 3 everyday when I go to school and I still do from time to time.

They aren't saying they don't like him cause he's in purple, but even if they are it makes sense to dislike something because of color. You don't see many people driving around in purple cars.
They are saying that the idea was stupid. IN the height of pallette swaps they made a complete joke out of a Prince song. That is stupid.
What if Ermac was small and named Corvette?...pretty stupid
What about a Raspberry colored ninja named Beret?
You see where I'm going. Luckily they went with Purple Rain and it wasn't so bad.

See, they should have called him Rayne. :D
Basically, I agree with everything they said. Exept for Stryker. MK3 Stryker was cool, the later ones look like generic crap.
Also... They forgot to mention Hsu Hao or Mavado!

Honestly, I hate fan bias, and this list reeks of it.
Rain: Yeah, it's a stupid joke, but I liked his Kitana-esque story that ends with a one man crusade against Shao Kahn; they could've easily twisted that into him leading an underground rebellion against the emperor. I hated that they decided to ditch that and make him the half-brother of Taven and Daegon; you'd think that a god whose wife could SEE INTO THE FUTURE would be a little more cautious with committing adultery...
Bo' Rai Cho: As many people stated, they clearly ignored his status as Liu Kang's teacher...but then again, so did NRS. I hated that they ended up emphasizing his drunkenness and bad manners more than his fighting ability; toilet humor is never funny, in my opinion, and I don't find the appeal of vomit in any capacity - hell, it's one of the few sexual fetishes that I CAN'T understand the appeal of, so that should go a long way to show how little it makes sense to me as an attack.
Shujinko: Yeah, I hated that he took Liu Kang's place as the protagonist, but I disagree with people's assessment that his storyline was "stupid", or that he was an idiot; we clearly see him mature and start questioning the wisdom of what Damashi asks of him, and while he still does it, regardless, that's only because he still believes he's on a mission from the Elder Gods, and it wouldn't be fruitful to question them for long. It's clear that, even though he never truly grasps that his mission was a ruse until the very end, he DOES grasp that something is wrong with the mission, the more he continues it, if only because of the more and more questionable tasks he's asked to perform. Basically, it's less "Am I sure this is really what the gods want me to do" than it is "Am I sure this is really the BEST way of doing what the gods want me to do". That makes him less stupid and more sad, in my opinion.
Stryker: Hoo, boy, this is one of the big ones. I do like Stryker's role as the everyman of the series, someone without any powers or experience with magic or other worlds that is forced to be witness to and a part of an interdimensional war. It gives another perspective on how Earthrealm would handle this outside of the forces of light, how the general populace - ignorant of Shao Kahn, Outworld or the tournament - would react to the invasion. I do agree, however, that they made him too much of a Wesley; they made him too broken in UMK3 and beyond, and their attempts to make him appeal to the fans flopped once before (I'm sorry, I just don't feel his MKA version). MK9...I'm torn; on the one hand, he's badass and looks the part, but on the other, he's still a Wesley; he's way too genre savvy for his own good, is able to take down Reptile, Mileena, Kintaro AND Ermac on his own, and to top it all off, they ended up making KABAL the butt monkey in that part of the story, almost to make Stryker seem more badass and competent. Let's look at what happens to them:
Kabal questions who Reptile is, Stryker opens fire on him without question.
Kabal gets his ass knocked back by Reptile, Stryker kicks Reptile's ass.
Kabal questions the logic of going down to ground level, Stryker overrules him.
Kabal hesitates to call Mileena a foe, Stryker sees her for what she is right off the bat.
Kabal does nothing to help in the fight against Mileena, Stryker kicks Mileena's ass yet again.
Kabal gets barbequed by Kintaro, Stryker kicks the tabby's ass.
Y'see? In the entire sequence, Kabal winds up looking like an ineffectual idiot while Stryker is the one getting all of the awesomeness injected into him. It's only AFTER he gets his signature look that Kabal starts showing some backbone. As awesome as Stryker is, now, they tried way too hard to "fix" him.
Motaro: Okay, I'll admit it: I love MKA Motaro. Yeah, I wished he was in his full centaur glory, too, but it's understandable why they didn't do that, I loved the storyline they came up to explain it (especially if they had managed to tie it in with Sheeva or Goro or something, which they sadly didn't), and I have a blast fighting as him. I've always maintained that, if they had to go back to the two-legged model to make him playable in MK9, that's fine, if they did what they did to him in MKA. Hell, my two MK fanfics are based around his MKA storyline (one about an attempt to find the source of the curse, one using it as part of Motaro's fallout with NRS and Midway in a "behind the scenes" like story).

I love Motaro, but I dislike his bipedal alter ego. If you count Motaro out, Shujinko was the next on my list for two reasons: he has no signature move, only moves absorbed from other warriors, and he always tries to please everyone (I hate people like that in real life) and because of that he ends up betraying his own master Bo'Rai Cho, then the Lin Kuei, Mileena, etc...
I posted this in the other thread about this:

It seems they are oblivious to Mokap being a joke, they can't realize Stryker's new found badassery, they don't understand that Bo Rai Cho is a comic relief character, and they can't seem to fathom that a four-legged Motaro was almost impossible to put in MKA.
With that said, I don't agree with the list, but let them think what they will, I don't care.

How can you make a worst MK character list and not include Hsu Hao? Stryker is awesome now but MK apparently can't live Hao down.

pretty much any character not from MK1-3 who isnt female, minus troll chi, shinnok and onaga.
agreed on most parts. motaro shouldnt have been number 1, though, or even on the list at all. number 1 should always be reserved fort that fucker mokap. stryker's WAY too cool in this game to be on the list at all, especially considering the likes of dairou didnt make it.
