5 Favourite characters
1) Shang Tsung. I've always liked a good villian. And he is.
2) Sub Zero (younger). Blue is my favourite colour so first of course I picks Subby. But its the ice moves and the whole hes trying to be a hero thing I'm liking.
3) Raiden. He is the guide character. Fuck Scorpion, Fuck Sub Zero. If there is no Raiden I'm not playing it.
4) Kitana. Love the fans. I think my problem is that I think she should be held in higher regards in the developers eyes.
5) Sheeva. Just like her. I dont get at least half her criticism from fans. I can understand a bit but to say she's in the top 10-15 worst MK characters?

5 Characters I hate

Now for this I'm not including the obvious choices (Meat, Mokap, Rain) because they are joke characters or underdeveloped to the point of pointlessness.

1) Quan Chi. I hate Quan Chi. This doesn't mean I dont want him to appear. He is such a slimy piece of shit. He screws everyone over and you wonder how he has survived for so long. I just genuinely hate him and he is a villain so he is doing his job properly. There is no shade of grey with him it seems, he just fuck people's shit up just for the sake of fucking people's shit up.
2) Jarek. Ok he is a pointless character.
3) Smoke. I mean why is he loved? He is a grey ninja just for the sake of being a grey ninja. I couldn't care less about him. Turned into a robot? Oh well. Controlled by a wraith ninja? *shrugs arms*
4) Noob Saibot. I guess I fucking loved Deception then? Again, like Smoke I just cant see the point. I liked the whole "I'm the older Sub Zero" thing but thats it.
5) Taven. I fucking hated the whole Armageddon story. The whole generations of Mortal Kombat have just been a plaything for 2 demigod brothers to prove themselves worthy. It doesn't help that Taven is a completely unlikeable cunt. I mean completely unlikeable. The polar opposite of Quan Chi on this list

Top 5 Favorites



1. Sindel - I have always liked the Character overall. Her Story, Look, and Powers always appealed to me. As with most of the characters in my top 5, I really appreciate the value of Sindel being one of the only few fighters to turn from evil to good.

2. Ermac - My Favorite out of all the Ninja's, I believe Ermac has the Potential to become one of the Most Powerful characters in the Entire Series. I love his Deception Look and Storyline. Like Sindel, I enjoyed Ermac's redemption storyline, turning from evil to good.

3. Jade - Ever since MK2, the first time I saw Jade pop her head out from behind the tree's, I have been intrigued with her. Back then, since I was kinda young, I never really understood how to get to be able to fight her in game, but once she appeared as a Playable character in UMK3, I grew to love her quickly. I have always been in love with the Mystery that surrounds Jade and her story. Her moves are wonderfully amazing, sticking with the theme of Kinetic energy, and she is amazingly fast and skilled. She is a loyal friend, choosing to betray Kahn to aid Kitana. Like the two before her on this list, she is another character that I liked to watch turning from evil to good.

4. Cyrax - I always really liked the look of Cyrax, but most of all, his moves. His story, for me at least, always took a back seat, but he was definitely a fun fun character to play with. I had not paid much attention to his storyline, until people started fiddling with his programing. I love the Special Forces angle, and enjoyed seeing him be made to fight for good rather than evil, regaining his free will and soul, with the help of Sonya and Jax.

5. Quan Chi - Quan Chi holds the title of being my Favorite Bad Guy. I have always felt that Quan Chi had something that the other big Baddies like Kahn and Tsung didn't have. A sort of Charisma maybe? He always just seemed extra manipulative, extra powerful, and extra evil. I love his Mythologies Storyline, involving Scorpion and Sub-Zero, as well as his involvement in taking over Edenia in MK4. He is sort of like an "Emperor Behind the Scenes" and I do believe if Kahn was ever to be offed for good, Quan Chi could easily take his place.








Top 5 Hated


1. Tanya - While I do like some bits and pieces of Tanya's Storyline, like her feud with Jade, the main reason I dont really like Tanya is the Character herself. I dont think she is designed poorly in image, but her overall attitude, personality, and treachery are just as foul as the day is long. She was the kind of character that made me want to hate her. But most of all, my hatred for Tanya was set in stone the day I had to beat her in Deceptions Konquest mode, trying to set Sindel Free. I went for hours on end trying to get passed her to no avail. I eventually did but I was so flipping frustrated afterwards...I wanted to strangle that bitch myself. Where as Mileena is that totally evil bitch that most people absolutely love and adore, Tanya is that totally evil bitch that I absolutely Hate and Despise! >.<


2. Kobra - Who are you? Go the Fuck away! You think you're a badass because you're a Simple Murderer? Why are you even here??? Stryker needs to come handcuff you and escort you away, NEVER to be seen again. Hell..you are part of the Reformed Black Dragon, but for some reason I get the feeling Both Kabal and Kira want to kick your ass because even THEY dont like you! Sad little man...please go away. Kobra isnt even second to Tanya...they are Pretty much tied. The only thing Tanya has over him is the fact that she actually feels like she Belongs where she is.


3. Moloch - I really really REALLY do not like this Character. Does ANYONE like this character? My hatred for Moloch is somewhat similar to Tanya in that I grew to Hate him because I could not beat him, But unlike Tanya, who has some qualities overall that I like (i.e. her story) there Is not ONE DAMN THING that I can name in favor of this annoying fucking character.


4. Hsu Hao - Just very uninteresting. Annoying to simply look at. He just feels really unimportant to me. He is almost more of a henchman to Mavado, than Baraka is too Kahn, which to me is funny because Mavado also answers to someone else. Please go away, get a entire makeover or something, and come back....Then I "MIGHT" like you....But you have to undergo some MAJOR changes....


5. Hotaru - This douche bag is so blind he cant see the forest for the tree's. How long did he lock up Shujinko for just breaking a simple Curfew? No one likes a goody two-shoes who follows all the rules. While Seido, and Hotaru as a character may both be interesting premises, I feel they were both poorly executed in deception, and just came off as very very VERY annoying. Friggen Zealot....

In no particular order:

LIKE
- Scorpion (before MK:SM/Armageddon)
Once, my go-to guy. Good look, the spear was bad ass, and he had a decent story with some good development. I dug him as the tormented, brooding anti-hero who only fought for himself, but when it mattered, he would do the right thing.
Then they ruined him.

- Kitana (before MK vs. DC/MK2011)
One of the best storylines in the game and one of the most developed characters. I liked her as the reformed assassin seeking redemption who persevered through all the shit that got dumped on her. Bad ass weapon and, in my opinoin, the best looking female character.
Now they've ruined her.

- Quan Chi
Pure nihilistic blackness. One of the few MK villains to actually have an actual plan involving legitimate cunning. He's tied into and screwed over so many characters and he always seems to have a back-up plan. I also like how nihilistic he is. Where other villains want to rule and conquer...Quan Chi would be just as content to let everyone die.

- Sareena
Solid foundation of a character and when they finally brought her into the games for real, I enjoyed using her. A demon struggling against her true nature and trying to be a good person makes for a compelling and interesting character. And goth ckicks rule.

I honestly can't think of a fifth. Sub-Zero, Mileena, or Noob Saibot...I guess.


HATE
- Liu Kang
Boring, bland, one-dimensional character who they keep bringing back and made "the hero" despite there being far mor interesting, developed, original, popular, and deserving characters. You're no icon. You're an embarrassment.

- Sonya Blade
Cliche character who gets way more credit than she deserves just because she had the dumb luck of coming first. Her sub-plot is disposable and I never liked using her. She's of no use.

- Kano
Worthless character dragged out far past his expiration date just because, once again, he had the dumb luck to just so happen to be "one of the originals." Dull, boring, one-note plot device.

- Chameleon
This "character" shouldn't even exist. He has nothing. No story. No moves of his own. He's just another ninja. In fact...he doesn't even have his own color. So even as a pallette swipe, he's worthless. And we already have Khameleon. Worst character in Mortal Kombat....bar none.

- tie between Johnny Cage & Jax
Two more characters who get underserved special treatment because they happen to be sacred cows. Even though they're both one-note, pointless, and disposable characters who bring little to nothing to the game.

Top 5

Quan Chi - MK:4 Fatality was the best fatality of all time, and his costume is tough. In a fight he will project a skull at you for crying out loud.

Mileena - Her combos are fast, & her teleport is simple yet can trick the best of us in an intense fight. Goes in the floor kicks you from the sky.lol

Onaga - The man who ruled Outworld before Kahn. Over-powered Raiden, Quan Chi, and Shang without the Kami. arguably the strongest force in MK history, and he damn sure might be the actual dragon logo after all these years.

Shao Kahn - The defintion of an original boss. "You will NEVER win!" is what he used to say back in the day, after whoopin your ass with a shoulder press or a knee jump. All these years later they still mask him too.

Lui Kang- That bicycle kick is still hot. Imagine how your chest feels after that; plus his dragon transforma was the shit back in the day.

Least 5

Johnny Cage - Fake ass Tom Cruise with mysterious green blasts.

Jarek - Waaaaaack.

Kira - MK does not need a teen emo chick with a porno outfit.

Mavado - Who is this guy, and why is he not fighting ninja turtles instead.

3. Tanya. I've loved this girl since her introduction. The twist to her story was awesome, and I love how ruthless she is. There's a lot of potential to her story development. She's also really fun to play as.
4. Li Mei. I like her moveset and story, also a lot of potential
5. Kano. I just like using him, his butterfly knives are really useful

Shang Tsung - A majestic sorcerer with a sense of class and hell of a persistence in pursuing his ambition for dominance.

Quan Chi - Pure genius of manipulation and, hey, the arch sorcerer of the Fallen Elder God himself!

Rain - In my opinion, the MOST powerful ninja. Not caring how it will be commented.

Sindel - Possibly the most kickass female combatant in the franchise.

Reptile - Not much appealing bio, but the special moves and the air of utter spite of his opponents make him seem a definite winner.


My five hated:


Liu Kang - Worn off and unoriginal. And, ugh, so irritating voiced...!

Cage - Pointless Van Damme wannabe with shallow sense of humor.

Kintaro - Cheap and unoriginal. A truest example of a wannabe in MK.

Fujin - Male version of Sindel, whose 'wind skin rip' might be the apex of his concept's shallowness and idiocy, as is his toy crossbow.

Shinnok - Otherwise, a promising storyline and even appealing MK4 fatalities, but, God, do I hate how they made his looks and gameplay in MK4... Seriously, he was NOT a main boss, combat scheme excluded.

Jarek / Kobra / Kira / Mavado / Hsu Hao- All attempts to move the Black Dragon story beyond Sonya vs. Kano have been utter failures. Kabal was also a better hero than villain.

Li Mei- Boring pair of boobs with rip off moves who managed to worm her way into every single one of the 3-D MK games. She's often held as one of the better characters in the 3-D games, but I think she's a generic (if good looking) shitty character, and would list several MKDA-A characters as being more interesting than her (Taven, Daegon, Hotaru, Kenshi, Bo Rai Cho, Drahmin etc.)

Sheeva- One Shokanite too many. Her dialogue from MK9's story mode went a long way to making me hate her. A one dimensional death before dishonor stereotype.

Darrius- One Order/ Chaos Character too many.

Kai- Poorly created character, gameplay wise. Storywise...he joins the shaolin monks to find himself, leaves to find himself, and returns to find himself killed in Armageddon. Ho-hum.

Fujin- Though I love the idea of MK Gods, Fujin has too few things that make him unique. He's basically a hatless Kung Lao meets a hatless Raiden. He was also passed over too many times to be viewed as important.

My Top 5

1. Scorpion: Truth be told, when I started playing Sub-Zero was my original favorite. I liked the whole Ice power thing and that he wore blue. As I matured however, I gravitated torwards Scorpion for 2 reasons: My playstyle, which is mostly agressive, just didn't fit Sub Zero, while it fit Scorpion perfectly, with his easy to remember moves and combos. Second, Scorpion's revenge story just appealed to me more on closer observation.

2. Sub-Zero: My former favorite.Still like him, just not as much as Scorpion.

3. Johnny Cage: Always liked his arrgoant, movie star esque personality, and his special moves always looked the coolest.

4. Liu Kang: Didn't care for him before, but his potrayal in MK9 has really moved him up.

5. Edenians (+ Mileena): Can't really pick a favorite among them.


Hated

1. Quan Chi: Unlike the others on this list, I genuinely HATE this bastard, but in a villain way, not because of any character problems. I hate him in the way that I hope someone punches him in the fucking face, not hate him that I don't want him in the next game.

2.Sheeva: I hope what Ed Boon says about taking out the least popular characters is true, because I could do without her terrible persona.

3. Raiden: Kinda liked him before, but after MK9....WOW what a dumbass he is.

4. MKDA-MKD-MKA Characters in General: Didn't care for them, and they always seemed to get in the way. Chief among them Shujinko and Taven, same reasons as Raiden.

5. Sonya/Jax: Their military shtick always seemed out of place in this fantastic world. Somewhat better in MK9.

1. scorpion was my 1st character i ever played in the series then i was hooked,even though his story is garbage.
2. reptile he is one of a kind and his look always appealed to me. must be because i want to have a boa as a pet.

4. shinnok same thing as quan chi.
5. fujin. i always like fujin better than raiden. god of wind beats god of thunder anyday. plus look at what raiden did to the reboot story. fujin would of never had that happen.

LIKE:
1. Shang Tsung - Maniuplative mixed with class and dignity and intellect. Plus he fits me in real life *personality*
2. Quan Chi - Same thing for Shang Tsung just got 2x the brutalness and doesn't care unless your dead
3. Mileena and Kitana - The first two girls that caught my eye in MK2 and the way they played were awesome. Storyline wise they need to reconnect together to being sisters one last time.
4. Sheeva - Why so much hate for this character? Yeah she doesn't have the *look* like Kintaro had but seriously appearance is only 1 out of 100 things that can go right with a character. She is probably the only character from the shokans that were balanced and she had some of the best moves in MK3.
5. Shinnok/Shao Kahn - Shao Kahn is the ultimate boss for MK and he will forever be that guy who made you literally rage whenever you fought him. If they ever made a SF crossover, him and Bison and akuma would make GREAT friends. Shinnok gameplay wise rocked, appearance is only 1 out of 100 but it was kinda crappy but yet he was fun to use and impersonating someone else rather it be on a game or in real life takes GUTS lol.


HATE:
6. Taven: First of I HATED MK Armageddon and with this dude being the center piece of MKA, made me hate it more. Worthless human version of rain just with fire.
7. Rain: Need i say more?
8. Daegon/Mokap/Meat/Johnny Cage: ~_~ *facepalms*
9. Jax/Hsu Hao/Darrius : Instead of being the second class people that work someone, they could be there OWN leader.... and have an interesting storyline but hey they'll never experience that

Like:
1. Sektor - Because he's just cool as all hell imo. His character carries that dark part that is in everyone that is always looking to be as strong as possible, even at the cost of his own humanity.
2. Smoke - Because he's probably one of the most effective Ninjas in the MK series, due to his moveset and abilities.
3. Noob Saibot - He's a shadow that kills people. It really doesn't get much cooler than that. Enough said.
4. Scorpion - He's a Klassic. He's iconic and the most probable mascot candidate for the entire MK series, even though he's rarely played many pivotal roles.
5. Quan Chi - I love his attitude and his treachery. He's that one person that we all know, who would probably sell their own mother just for a bit of glory or power.

Hate:
1. Shujinko - He's the lamest cash cow character ever made. "Hey, here's an idea, let's make a lame old man who learns everyone elses moves and ends up screwing up the whole MK universe!" Yeah...great...
2. Taven - Again, a cash cow character with no real weight or value.
3. Mileena - I don't know why...but she's always felt out of place. I've never been able to find any love for this character whatsoever.
4. Blaze - When all else fails and no decent ideas are available, just add a character who is completely naked and made of Lava. Need I say more?
5. Cyrax - Because he is opposed to Sektors grand visions of robotic synthesis, of course. Apart from that, he's "Okay".

1. Mileena : Awesome looks, story, moves, etc...
2. Jade : Sexy and strong.
3. Kitana : Nice weapons and story.
4. Reptile : Nice moves, story, style. MK1 original fav.

3. Hsu Hao : Boring and fugly. Ourumov on crack/steroids ?
4. Dairou : I badly wanna punch that ugly mofo in the face.
5. Kobra/Daegon/Taven : I don't care about them.

Ok, here goes:

Faves:
1) Shao Kahn: He has the cold and calculating nature of a Lex Luthor type, but also the extreme physical strength and insatiable bloodlust of so many other villains. The ultimate villain, plain and simple.
2) Reptile: Was my main back in the days of MK2.
3) Scorpion/Noob Saibot: it's a tie between these two as they both seem to fall into the categtory possibly good/evil undead characters awaiting redemption/damnation. I get the feeling there is still hope for scorpion being redeemed, but Noob seems quite happy where he is.
4) Havik/Hotaru: I really like the whole Order/Chaos vibe. They are morally neutral.
5) Shinnok: The premise of this character was
great, but, to date, I still don't think he's fulfilled his potential. Hopefully that will change in MK10.

Most hated:
1) Jarek: utterly pointless clone of Kano. Lazy and uninspired.
2) Moloch: Annoying, unfair boss, and utterly useless when he became playable later.
3) Frost: I just didn't like her look or the way she handled in deadly alliance.
4) Taven: I didn't like the way his introduction basically pisses all over the story of the previous Mk games by saying it's all just a means for a brotherly feud.
5) Blaze: I really wanted the final boss of Armageddon to be a step up from shao Kahn and Onaga. I was really disappointed that it was just a reworking of a previous secret character.

Meh, all right.

Likes:

1) Kabal. I absolutely love this guy. I love horror films and that's what this guy reminds me of: Mortal Kombat's version of a masked slasher. The fact that he FINALLY got cool Fatals in MK9 didn't hurt either.

2) Reptile. I keep gravitating back to Reptile in whatever games he appears in. He's cool and he's always got the right amount of power without being cheap. MK4 was my favorite rendition of him.

3) Sektor. I actually missed Sektor and I love playing him in MK9. I just ignore the Iron Man comparisons. Love that Scarecrow Fatality.

4) Kintaro. I build figures, and Kintaro is just fun to make. Plus, I got respect for him back in the '90s when he kicked my ass at the arcades.

5) Motaro. Same reason as Kintaro. The CENTAUR version, mind.

Dislikes:

1) Reiko. Just... no. A nobody-general in Shao Kahn's army (you know, instead of the four-armed giants, blade-armed demons and bulletproof centaurs) who just happens to look exactly like Chris O'Donnell in the Joel Schumacher "Batman" films. The only thing we know about him is that he's "brutal", which- as far as the MK universe is concerned- is like being revered in the X-Men for having a mutant power. If that weren't bad enough, he likes to sneak into Shao Kahn's chamber and wear his armor, which as we all know is a helmet and red undies. To reiterate: this incredibly vicious brute has a girl's name, dresses like Robin, and likes to wear other people's oversized briefs. Let's move on...

2) Hsu Hao. An arch-enemy for Jax? Cool! A big, muscular Mongolian son-of-a-bitch who could create thunderclaps with but his hands? Awesome! With a big, clumsy cybernetic heart that flashed "SHOOT ME HERE" and could be easily ripped out by anyone with robotic arms? Not so fast, Ed Boon. Hard to leave a guy off your Top Worst List whom even the MK DEVELOPERS don't like...

3) Noob Saibot. A cheap joke taken way too far. Whatever coolness this guy has is diminished by his name. What, when you descend to the Netherrealm you get to change your name? And were "Moop Gysox" and "Floom Poipwank" also in consideration? Seriously, canonically change his name to "Bi Han" (you know, his NAME IN LIFE) and stop naming characters after the game designers and their favorite albums (cough-cough-RAIN-cough-cough).

4) Mavado. To THINK that this chump and his wrist-mounted bungee cords defeated Kabal. A hookswordsman who shot plasma from his face, ran at lightspeed, and lived to talk about his beating from an Outworld extermination squad was finally felled by a Lou Diamond Phillips-lookalike who played like crap and capped off his combos with a BOING noise. Maybe Kabal was too busy gut-laughing at Mavado to build up an offense.

5) Shinnok. Like Noob, another character I refuse to take seriously. I call him SHNOK. I refuse to believe that this idiot is orchestrating everything to his own goals, but I'll accept it if it means he leaves the character select screen. I'll always remember my friend Chris choosing to play him in Armageddon and saying "Guess I'll choose Ronald McDonald here! I'm gonna SUPERSIZE your ass!" Honestly, is anyone actually AFRAID of this guy...? "I could kill you with a THOUGHT!" Whatever. I'd back down from Quan Chi and Shao Kahn in a dark alley; you? Not so much.

Love: #1 kenshi he has a great story he's really fun to play with plus he's one of the only really good post mk4 warriors.#2 stryker did not really care for mk3 stryker but mka really made him look good and in this new game he's so cool I couldn't not like him.#3kabal on the good side like him as a cop and partner of stryker (see above) plus I've always really liked playing as him and he's awesome in this new game.#4 smoke as a human he's really got one of the best storys in the game and he's got a great move set and i like the idea of a warrior made of smoke.#5noob I love how you kinda cheer for him even though he's a bad guy becaused he's been lied to and used so much he also has the power to control shadows how cool is that.
