The Human brain is wired to recognize familiar shapes/patterns. It's hard to explain completely w/o a wall-o-text attack, and psychology lesson.

The wiring allows us to "Humanize" things that aren't Human, but have vaguely recognizable features. It lets us identify things like smily face icons, bacon & egg faces, images in clouds, and shit like that.

Being aroused by a picture, photograph, drawing, sprite, 3d model, etc. is perfectly normal. If however, you prefer the image over the real thing, then you have a problem. Obsession. Same goes for a mental image of your perfect or dream girl/guy. Dwelling too much on the proxy is unhealthy.
