Hey everyone,
Just to change up the topics a bit. Which Sorcerer would you learn from and why?
I would apprentice under Shang Tsung, because he has vast amounts of knowledge, magic, and fighting skills from all the souls he has collected.
So, who would you choose?
Please stay on topic. Thank You.

Shang Tsung probably wouldn't stab you in the back as Quan Chi would, but Quan Chi is more powerful and generally more badass.
Probably Quan Chi.
And I'm moving this to Series General.

Quan Chi seems to rely more on his manipulative skills than his sorcery so I pick Shang Tsung, I feel like he would have more to teach.

Probably Shang tsung he's less likely to stab you in the back and seems to have a lot of knowledge.
Taking souls would be pretty cool too.

Quan Chi is totally naturally prone to manipulation. The dude is a hell demon, after all. With all his iniquities, though, you have to hand it to him that he did was of some notable use to combatants, too. E.g. he did arrange that Scorpion get killed but he also transformed him from a mere human warrior, to a powerful spectre, whom only the elite MK combatants could take in a fight; he did fool Shinnok with the quasi-amulet, but he also arranged his expansion from his Netherrealm confines. That said, you could probably expect some sort of great, supernatural service from him as well; the price would be dear, of course, but hey, so would be the reward.
And also, who's to say Shang Tsung wouldn't betray you, too? He just happens to serve a master whom he fears more, than Quan Chi does his, but if he were more brave and powerful, he'd likely sabotage him too (like, in the long run, he did in MKDA).
As to the question, that is a tough one. For more security, I'd get enlisted under Shang Tsung; for more power and knowledge I'd look up Quan Chi. I would likely end up with Tsung, though, since his level of power would fulfil me fine enough, and I'd take a fellow human, even a malevolent one, over an unpredictable demon any day. Shang Tsung, even as of now, should have at least some minimal care of his mother realm, while Quan Chi, literally, couldn't care less if the Earth perished to its last atom.
This question has yet another level, though: whomever of sorcerers I elected, I'd almost inevitably fall under the command of either Shao Kahn or Shinnok. So it then boils down to whom of THESE two I'd serve more gladly. Hah !

Hmmm,
Shang Tsung probably would be the better teacher. But Quan Chi does have better whores.
Its a hard one.

The reason I pick shang tsung is because, with all the souls he has aquired, he also aquires that persons experience and knowledge. which would make Tsung a very versatile fighter.
Quan chi is stronger since he is a demon, and is quite versed in the dark arts, but he doesn't seem to have that many stuff to offer as shang tsung does.

Either way you better get them before they get you.

Quan Chi. Demonic necromantics is my preference, though soul-stealing shapeshifting is nice too.

Quan Chi has a higher status so Quan Chi. In general I like Tsung more though.

Getting involved with Quan Chi would pretty much guarantee a lifetime of looking over your shoulder in paranoia and an afterlife of slavery, even if you stay on his good side.
With Shang, once you learned all he had to teach, you could just kill him and take his place.

Shang Tsung.
As many others have said, you'd be far less likely to be fucked over.
Besides, Shang is at least charismatic, and he's quite knowledgeable. I wanna learn how to shapeshift and make new critters to serve me.

probably shang tsung since in mk9 ending
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
quan chi serves him0
Oh, definately Shang Tsung. I love the concept of soul magic and shapeshifting. Mystique is one of my favourite Marvel characters because of her ability to shift into other people. It was indeed one of the things that made Shang Tsung cool.
Though necromancy fits Quan Chi, I have never been a fan of such magic. With maybe the exception for vampires, undeads are so boring.

When you'll take their current apprentices under comparison, it looks as if you'd have better chances to success under Quan Chi's rule: Shang Tsung's Reptile looks to be a servant forever whilst Quan Chi's Scorpion gains opportunities to actually spare his kind.
Looking at personalities and backgrounds, however, I'd choose Tsung.

Shang Tsung I think I would learn more from him than Quan Chi. If it come to if I die I won't want to be an undead slave.

reptile and scorpion aren't really apprenticing under shang and quan. If you apprentice your learning skills from a master. reptile and scorpion fit more under the minion catagory.

Quan Chi is too manipulative however, Tsung fails more....but in general, i like Shang's abilities more so than Quan Chi's...so I'd probably go with Shang. Soul Stealing, Shape shifting...and fire-fuck-balls lol

I would do Quan Chi because he is more powerful and I just think he's cooler.
