It's pretty sad when a video game creates political unrest. At least it gave MK some deserved attention and notoriety.

lol, yeah I know right? ^ It's even more sad when those morons aren't even aware of the fact that Midway purposely mispells "Combat" with a "K" Kombat, they also use K for everything in their MK games such as "Kharacters" or" Kreate A Kharacter" or "Kobra" "Kira" etc, etc...

People really are ignorant and it shows when they say stuff like that...

As I said in the other thread that gave this update, chances are Mortal Kombat has had more success then these dumb politicians careers over the years that have gone after MK. Thompson, Hillary and Lieberman...

Yeah man, sometimes their stupidity is overwhelming. Another thing I can't stand is when they use an issue that is SO unimportant in the whole scheme of things to win votes, and in effect, ignore pertinent issues that may negatively effect their popularity.

Never released Night Trap? WTF....of course it was released! It the reason the whole ESRB was started, MK had nothing to do with that! It was released on Sega CD in the US and Mega CD in Europe / Australia (it was banned 2 weeks after release in Australia) but the US version is still around I know cause I own an original copy, and my friend owns the UK version! both uncensored. Then they released it later on 32x that had been cut-down. Yahoo articles = poop.

Actually MK WAS the reason, Nighttrap was controversal mainly for the girls running around in their undies with cheesy guys in black running after them, NOT for gore or fatalities such as Sub's "spinal rip" it was Joe Liberman that flipped out about MK per-se not nighttrap. Not for nothing but ripping someones head off with the spine attached is a hell of a lot worse then anything in nighttrap...

Nighttrap is crap...nobody knew of it because nobody played it....

If you watch various documentaries, MK was TAME compared to Night Trap...have you played it? Night Trap caused the ESRB to be formed, MK just started "talk" "oh that game should be banned" "they should do something about that ect..." when people saw girls getting murdered by intruders in black suits with weapons that suck the blood out of the victims that are wearing nothing but panties and PJ tops in FMV video....that was what formed the ESRB.

The things in nighttrap yes I've seen it, the shit in GTA is much worse with the hot coffee incident and even that looked bad. MK still is the key game that caused the "shock and OMG" aura around the world.

The fatalities ARE the key reason for the ESRB rating, there's an article about is also that was on here not too long ago that even said that both games were mentioned but MK's Sub-Zero spinal rip was the key reason for the ESRB rating.

Nightrap looked cheesy to hell, the spinal rip actually looked real at the time of video games that's another big difference.

MK was in the spotlight a hell of a lot more then nighttrap.

You may of seen Night Trap, but where you there when it came out, in the time period? Because It's a whole differant ball game these days. You say Night Trap looked cheesy as hell, that wasn't the case when it was a new release game...people were blown away buy the full motion video and hardcore style of the game. These days It's great for a laugh and is deffinatly cheesy, but back then...it was respected. I will admit that MK caused lots of talk, and the actors being digitized was one of those reasons, but as cool as the spine rip looked...the real people in the real FMV sequences was the main key to the ESRB being formed.

People weren't as blown away with NightTrap as they were with MK man, everyone knows this by now. I'm in my mid 20's btw I was well around at the time this game came out, I'm not a teen or younger like majority on here. Not to mention people were misinformed and mislead....I'll get to that in a second.

I've been around the park a few times. That wasn't even the case though, it looked cheesy even for back then.

MK was talked about, shown on national TV and ripped by Joe Liberman thus why MK is the reason why the ESRB rating evolved. Plus, allow me to show you some interesting fact that another gentlemen brought up on here that I don't think you're aware of.



He's right you know, it should be MK, Thrill Kill, Custer's Revenge etc. They were all much worse then Nighttrap. Nighttrap looked like a horrible B-horror movie, MK for it's time ripping someone elses head off literally with digitized real people/actors is a hell of a lot worse, especially where kids see that at the movies or arcade at the time....where Nighttrap wasn't even an arcade game. Garlador brings up a great point and it's true.
