OK folks, for all of you that enjoy watching high level MK9 matches, there are two big tournaments to be concluded today and MK9 finals are on schedule at both tournaments.


Tourney #1: CEO

Location: Orladno
MK9 finals start time: 3:30 PM local time
Finalists: ATL Red, Noobde, Banana Ken, PR Rog, Tom Brady, Chris G, JT Circus and TS Sabin (Arturo Sanchez)

NOTE: Other very well known players such as Justin Wong, PerfectLegend and Floe also participated but got eliminated in the pool stage of the tourney. Also, none other than MK's very own combo legend Check participated as well and even though he scored some impressive wins, he too failed to qualify for Top8. So, these Top8 players must be beasts if they eliminated the likes of JW and PL.

This tourney is not played with the latest patch.


Tourney #2: ReveLAtions

Location: Los Angeles
MK9 finals start time: 2:45 PM local time
Finalists: Aris (Smoke player), Konqrr (plays Kitana), RIP (plays Noob Saibot), Michaelangelo (plays Kabal), OnlineTony (another Kabal player), WonderChef (plays Reptile), Krayziebone (plays various, but mostly Ermac) and Hugo101(plays Liu Kang).

NOTE: This tournament is played with the latest patch. Also, Krayziebone showed some impressive Sonya skills earlier in the tourney and I know there are lots of Sonya fans here, so check it out people! He played Jade too.


Enjoy fellow MKers, there should be some AMAZING MATCHES at both tournaments.


I'm cheering for Konqrr at ReveLAtions tourney, he's a dedicated MK fan and he rocks Kitana, I wish him all the best for the finals.

As for the CEO tourney, TS Sabin has been getting better and better with Shang Tsung (It's Alex Valle who plays Shang, shame on me), watch out for him and we know Tom Brady can play any character in the game, but prefers Sub-Zero. Should be fun. I have to say most other finalists there at CEO are unknown to me, so maybe some other up until now less represented characters pop up. Interesting!


EDIT: It seems they're a bit behind the schedule at CEO because the MK9 finals should have already started, but Tekken 6 finals are still being played. MK9 finals is to follow T6, so it should start soon.

Yes, MK will start when Tekken 6 completes, they are behind schedule. MK was supposed to start 30mins ago.

I'll wait though, I'm sure it'll pay off. Can't wait to see some crazy high level matches!

LOL, I was just gonna ask you who your favorite player is and then I quoted your message and it revealed the answer. tongue

I don't mind Arturo, but I'm not much of a Shang Tsung fan though... I'm very curious to see who all the other guys main. I'm only familiar with Arturo and Tom Brady of those Top8 at CEO.

Oh, Arturo switched to Shang? Damn, I was loving his Reptile play in the previous tournaments. I'll still cheer for him because he was one of my early inspirations in fighting games. I mained rose in SF4, and his Rose was phenomenal in the early SSF4 period. He's now a permanent Dhalsim player with AE, but I still hold a lot of respect for the guy.

BTW, I haven't been watching the tournament much this weekend. I had an 8-hour shift yesterday and would-be poker game last night. I've got church this evening, so I have no clue how much of the top 8 I'll be able to check out. Hopefully I'll at least get to see top 4 non-archived.

OMG, my apologies Temp, now that I read your last post I realized I confused Arturo for Alex Valle. It's Alex Valle who plays with Shang Tsung. Sorry for that!

Haha, it's cool. I'm a HUGE Alex Valle fan as well. smile The original Valle/Combofiend exhibition match is what got me into stream-monstering in the first place. I also really do like what he's done with Shang Tsung. Alex Valle is too creative a player to be using Kang like he was before.

I just wish the guy would make a conscious decision to stop sucking a MvsC3. It's like he made a blood oath to never win with Captain America.

LOL @ the Blood Oath, btw it reminds me of "The Oath" from SoulCalibur3, one of my favorite music pieces from that game. Love the soundtrack for SC3.

What's up with Combofiend, I remember seeing him at one of the early tournaments, just after MK came out, he played with Kitana so he became an instant fave of mine. I haven't seen him at any recent MK tournaments. Shame, I saw on Wikipedia that he had success at Evo before, so he must be an awesome player.

I'm not sure myself what happened to ComboFiend. His Kitana was really impressive. With Wong and Valle, I guess he's not essential, but I've love to see what he'd do further into the game. The more pros we have the better.

And speak of the Devil, the tournament is starting with Arturo on Reptile. Fuck yeah. smile

I really love watching skilled Cyrax players. So JT Circus eliminated Justin Wong with his Kano. Interesting.

This is pre-patch though.

EDIT: ReveLAtions finals kicked off as well! Two tourneys at the same time!

Nice, a change for once. Atleast now it's known that Tom Brady can be beaten. Chris even scored a Flawless.

Yeah, Chris G eliminated Tom Brady and earlier on Arturo Sanchez as well.

I'm now watching the 2nd tourney stream, reveLAtions, much better stream quality. I'm cheering for Konqrr. Love how his 45%+ fan-barrage Kitana combos annoy Aris. tongue

YES! Tom Brady's doofy ass got molested. It was too much fun watching the dumb ass look on his face. ( Pretty sure he's got something to do with the ON PURPOSE shit online conspiracy )

Tom Brady exposed. AWESOME, Couldn't of happened to a bigger prick.

The MK tourney at CEO finished. You'll have to wait for the footage to be available tomorrow or sometime after to see it.


As for Tom Brady himself, damn he's so annoying. He was up in a match against Arturo (I think) and he could have finished him off with an easy x-ray, but he started trolling and lost the round. Pfff...


Damn, Konqrr got eliminated by Michealangelo's Kabal. sad I hope he shows up in future tourneys, he's so refreshing to watch and seems like a really cool guy.

lol thats good to hear xD personally i don't care for pro gamers...and honestly i wish i had the money to travel and enter one of these tournaments...

most pro gamers are pretty cool now and are active in the community and help out. Justin wong used to be a douche when he was younger. Tom Brady can be a asshole. The worst though is Filipino Champ. That guy is a total tool, so full of himself.

That wasn't trolling, at the time he was down 1 round and and Arturo was sitting on a breaker.

He could have

a) done a slide or some other combo that would've gotten broken and given Arturo a chance to take the momentum.

b) xrayed, wasted his entire meter and had to start the next round with Reptile having a full meter and him with nothing.

c) done the double freeze and gotten a free 7% unbreakable damage and reset the situation.

Reptile's xray eliminates subs ability to freeze and clone because he can blow right through them on react. Even if it won him the round, giving arturo a full meter and leaving himself with nothing would've started round 3 in a horrible situation.

Tom actually played really solid right up until he got mind fucked by chris. Both Chris and Arturo made some huge adjustments to his Sub Zero and gave him trouble, but both times Tom found his range and adjusted. His corner pressure against Chris was fucking amazing. But at the end, Chris finally figured out how to get free of the corner and Tom lost faith in his Sub.
