Anyone else dislike Kenshi?

I won't be getting him (untill the inevitible Ultimate MK9), Rain is the only DLC who might interest me so will wait for that.
From Kenshi's trailers he just looked so stiff and akward to me. He stole some of the awesome ideas they used for Noob in this game and added a sword. Lame.
I also hate the fact that every thread on this site will now revolve around Kenshi for two weeks.
If I was a blind dude I would definitley appreciate him though...

Stop mentioning UMK9 as if it is going to happen. It won't. Team is working on a totally new project and DLCs are the only thing they will add to MK9.

I wouldn't say I dislike him, but in the long run I'm kind of questioning if he can be a strong competitor. He definitely unique, but he kind of reminds me of cross between baraka, and Nightwolf. Baraka is pretty low tier as it is so I'm not sure how Kenshi will fare. His moves seem kind of bland, and mostly for juggling, he doesn't have a pop-up/launcher standard move either. He does have decent damage though which kind of makes up for it, but still.

I agree %100. NRS is pushing the "Kenshi is a unique character" crap to make up for the fact that Kenshi does not belong in the MK 1-3 storyline, but really the only reason he's here is cuz he's one of Boon's favorite characters. That's it.
All this requesting character DLCs, is going in one ear and out the other with Boon. He's gonna do what he wants, and he knows that we're gonna buy it.

I like him. I don't think he's the best character in the game, but he's pretty good. His moves are fluid and his first fatality is pretty original (to me anyway).
He was possibly my favorite character out of Deception, and I am glad to see him made available for this game. Hopefully MK10 will see him in the Story mode. Besides, what is there to not like about a blind telekinetic ninja?

He technically doesn't really have his telekinesis IMO. Yeah his throw, and his fatality do use it to an extent, but all his special movies are more asteral/psionic projects.

I'd say so. He's pretty damn quick, and he does pretty good damage.
Overall, a nice balance.
Maybe watch some videos on YouTube and see how you feel about his gameplay.
(Some say he plays like Noob, but I wouldn't know as I've never played as him.)
However, I'm a raving Kenshi lunatic.

I'm not gonna argue here, but just explain to me how taking all the DLC plus the existing game and putting it all on one CD is any real work?
Exactly. It will happen. Pretty much every good/popular game gets a "game of the year/ ultimate/ super edition" these days. Now kindly explain what makes you so sure they won't do it?

Kenshi's great, and he plays nothing like Ermac.
His moves are awesome and he has lots of combos potential.
Me likes.

I was surprised to see how many people agreed with me and how many people did not. Kenshi is a filler character just like Kratos. He is a character that wasn't in the original MK1 - 3 games, but his story was but in truth he doesn't fit too well in the new timeline. Kratos just doesn't fit at all but it is interesting seeing the new fighters, i.e. Skarlet and Kratos and Cyber Sub-Zero.

As a Rain Fan, I have to say that his usefullness in this storyline is about the same as Kenshi's... this was probably the reason both were left for dlc...
They can expand their usefullness in the following games, afterall they are now just DLC characters... and Might be regurlars and tied in with story in the next game (especially Kenshi, who didn't die as far as we know)

IDK but after getting Kenshi and playing through practice and learning his moves and then going through arcade mode with him I just don't see why so many love this fighter. I can beat him with Sheeva on Expert! His moves and finishers are cool, but his moves are a little week and by far way too easy to counter. Without his Telekinetic Slam he is pretty useless. His crouching is by far the worse in the game, he cann't even duck under Kahn's Spear Throw and I believe he is the only one who cannot duck under them. To me he is okay as an extra fighter to throw in for those who loved him from the old 3D games and pretty much that is it. Cool addition but weak fighter.

I might be late to the party with this comment and haven't read all the way through, but something is wrong with you if you are ducking under Kahn's spear with Kenshi. Use the sword man; hit it back at him.

I'm not sure what to make of this thread, so I'll cover both possibilities:
If it's about liking Kenshi as a character/story/costume color/hair/fatalities or anything like that, I have no comment.
If it's about liking Kenshi's gameplay, I think he's interesting to use. He has incredibly unsafe strings and moves, but if you are aware of this and make sure you play him controlled, he can be a great character.
His B+2 mid is very impressive. B,F+3 can be good in certain situations, however, it can also get you in a lot of trouble. By far his best string is F+3,2--it's amazing. So useful in combos, to pressure by cancelling into B,F+2 on block or D,B+1 on hit--it's great.
D,B+1 has really good range, and it's not difficult to dash to connect a followup (my choice is Dash, F+3,2 xx B,F+2)
He's all around solid--you just need to be careful with him, and not go crazy (a lot of his moves have crazy high recovery frames, so if you whiff, you'll pay).
If you play this game for gameplay, then I'm pretty sure you'll want to at least have the chance to use him just for matchup information, but if you decide to play him, he's solid.
