I main Subby and I have a very hard time dealing with Scorpion players online. He is my worst matchup by far and the thing that gets me with him is not so much his teleport but his mixups. For some reason I can't deal with his mixup game and it may have something to do with the threat of the low leg trip special he can add onto the end of his combos.

Also how does one get away from hellfire? Can't block it, can't ice-dash away from it, when I jump they often get me when I land.. it seems like the only feasible way to escape it is to jump a fraction of a second after your opponent has activated the move which is very difficult with a move that has such a fast startup.

I also get caught with the spear when I jump quite often, however if I never jump I will get hellfired all day so I get baited too easily. I have been considering switching my main over to Ermac (or a least have him be a second to Subby) so I can use him when matched up against a scorpion player. What would you guys recommend to deal with his mixups, hellfire, and as a good matchup against him?

Scorpion really is my achilles heel. I can deal with any other matchup so far.

I for one would never jump with Subzero.

There should be no reason to jump with him unless you're in extremely close range for a jump-in-punch.

Always end you're string with an instant ice-clone and go past it to do a jump-in-punch and combo. That way if they teleport they go directly on the ice-clone and if they turtle or hellfire, you're right up in the face with an anti-jump clone right behind you.

Good luck. grin

Use an Ice Clone when they teleport.

Um, that doesn't work. You move backwards right into their teleport. The proper move is ice clone, then dash in past the clone or jump in to bait the teleport.

I don't have much experience useing subby and at the moment only really use Reptile. I find Scorpion players more easy to deal.with Though. Yeah the Hellfire can be a bitch so I try to stay moving and keeping the pressure on. If I'm caught by something though I go defensive and usually am able to punish after blocking a spear or jumping over it or blocking a telepunch.

Usually with Sub-Zero if you press any character hard in the corner you're going to do quite a lot of damage to them.

Sub-Zero is my main and I've dealt with armies of Scorpions. The hellfire move can be countered by either front flipping or back flipping. As soon as you do that though prepare to block because chances are he's going to teleport on you, if you deal with a bastard who tries to spam the move do another front flip and use your punch move and string it into a combo. If he teleports after the hellfire keep holding that block button because chances are it's going to be a super meter teleport which is two hits. Once that is over it's your chance to strike.

With Scorpion using your ice clone is going to give a skilled scorpion player a free hit on you, so the closing the gap strategy is out of the picture. Always use your momentum to push Scorpion to the corner of the screen to force him to teleport and you'll get your free hit. Scorpion has a couple of low hitting attacks like his kicking combo and his scissor sweep. Block low when it counts because if you block low he's gonna hit you with that double sword move popping you up for a NASTY combo.

The only wake up move you have is the slide so it's going to be your best friend. Once you get knocked on your back, with inexperienced players you'll get your hit on him. If you get knocked down and see a Scorpion anticipating your slide move. Use the clone to confuse him and go in for an attack.

That's usually how I deal with Scorp.
