At first I was going for PL because I'm familiar with him and I'm a big fan of his Kung Lao. However when I saw MIT playing as Scorpion, he became my guy by default because you know, SCORPION:D

I really wanted MIT to win it all but the little homie SonicFox is too much of a beast! Gotta give credit when it is due. Will be dodging Erron Blacks when I start playing online lol.

Overall, this was an absolute blast to watch! I just didn't appreciate how Sonic ain't even shake Ed Boon's hand after he was handed 7 large.

Maybe. I mean the kid is 17 so at the same time I don't blame him. He's still imo a likable guy, that just didn't look good professionally. He might wanna think about that if he's going to continue to be a public figure in the spotlight. Very talented kid though. He definitely earned it.

I have to say though this was smart marketing to have the final 8 this weekend before the release on Tuesday! That gameplay really really REALLY shines man. I know there's been a lot of negativity towards the story mode and stuff but damn the gameplay is beautiful and smooth. I'm so hyped for this.

Well, in your defense.. It was Boon who initiated when he handed him the cash brief case. I honestly don't think Sonic would have.. He was to busy sucking up the attention, and didn't seem interested Ed was just standing there.. Even Ed looked like he felt kind of awkward. He just stood there like, "Yepppp" and walked off stage.

I guess if I was in Sonic's shoes my first priority would be Ed for some reason. Maybe because Ed is so legendary to me personally. Idk. However Ed is awkward in general....lol

Ya, I feel the same. I grew up with MK.. Ed's such a humble guy, and cares about his empire. But, Sonic is young. To him, Ed is just another game creator. Sonic is 17, meaning he was born in 1998. He wasn't even born when MK 4 was released lol.. So he doesn't have that legendary viewpoint of him like you or I.

On another note, that track that starts at 2:55 is actually really, really good.
It's reminiscent of MK4/Deadly Alliance (specifically, House of Pekara) with the spooky choir elements.

Just watched the whole thing.

I don't usually watch tournaments, just a bit here and there. Didn't know about this Sonic Fox guy but damn he's good (and young!). He swept everyone (the 5-1 round went 5-0 after losing the first round, and given that it was a friend of his you could even say he was "playing fair" for the first round).

I didn't see Erron becoming a corner nightmare, but that's exactly what he is, at least his Outlaw variation. I was looking forward to play Marksman using the caltrops as a way to cover me while snipping, but Outlaw's pressure is awesome.

Another note is that I think Inferno Scorpion is overpowered. Watching them play, I think MIT beat Perfect Legen because of how good that variation is rather than MIT being better than Perfect Legend (I was looking for a Sonic Fox versus Perfect legend finals after watching their first rounds, and I think Perfect Legend beat the third best player on the tournament on the first round, at least watching all of them play the first round I though Sonic was the best, Perfect Legend second and Prodigal Son the third with MIT being a disputed 4th).

Inferno Scorpion has:

- Great zoning.

- Teleport to avoid being cornered.

- Good mixups.

- And the most important part: 2 freaking ranged stuns that you can combo into!!

That last point is what was so powerful, he can combo, then stun with one of them, then combo, then stun with the other one as they're different stun moves, and then combo again, that's how he was getting 42% combos so easily (as after stun combos are much easier to pull than regular ones, Sub-Zero player talking here, I almost mever miss Subbies combos but I have a hard time with other characters).

You also have to be really careful as both stuns are ranged (unlike for example Erron's sand).

At least it wasn't enough against Sonic Fox, that I think won because of him being the better player rather than his character being so powerful like in MIT vs. Perfect Legend case. And it wasn't like he was doing some crazy stuff, a lot of his moves was really punichsable like his constant sliding or using combo strings to shoot (for a cowboy you would think Erron Black would have better zoning options than whiffing a full string to pull a single shot).

One thing I couldn't catch: can the EX sand throw be done during a combo or it was on the middle of resets? sometimes it looked like the opponent was still throwing his chain when he throwed the sand.
