Hori stick (only brand available in my country, and I probably paid about double for it than you guys in the States or Europe would). Love it though. Would kill to get my hands on a Madcatz TE, preferably the one with the Ultimate MvC3 artwork.

I was thinking about buying one. Are they good as people say they are? I mean, this ps2 controller feels really good imo.

You mean the Madcatz? If I were you and a bit worried about spending that much cash, why don't you go for a bottom line Madcatz or Hori stick? I would imagine you can pick up one for about $40 - $50 or so if you shop around. You will get a good idea whether a stick is for you and can still get years of use out of it. If you like ANY other fighting games I would 100% tell u to get a stick and learn to use it asap. MK is the only one where pad is still quite effective. Stick is just way more fun for me and gives it that "retro" feel.

I prefer pad, but that's only because I'm not too good with the stick; I didn't really have the privilege growing up to go at a local arcade and play till my heart's content (or pockets emptied lol). I was stuck in the house all the time with my 3 younger brothers playing whatever the latest system was 2 or 3 years late lol

I remember jumping over my primary school's fence during breaks to go play SF2 and MK1 at the local mini market. Aaaaaah Good times!

Having said that I have also always been late to move to a new system, I mean I use to own a original Pong machine. Don't think many/any people on here can claim that. grin Wish I still had that badboy.

i prefer the pad the stick looks too complicated for me

ive seen tourney players using pads beating those who uses sticks (heck IVE even beaten them) so i really dont see the point of them

Even when I used to go to the Arcades, I was never comfortable using arcade sticks, I like the pad personally much better, it's easier for me to input different directional buttons for combos and specials.

I just find the button layout on arcade sticks awkward and confusing but many tourney players use them well and have no issues, so it's all about perspective.

I think MK was a game made for pad, which is nice since I would hate to pay for a stick just to feel more comfortable playinh.

LOL! You're right, I never heard or knew of anyone owning that! Hell, the oldest system I was blessed to witness and play was the Turbografx! lol

I just recently went through a lengthy move,
and I have yet to unpack my TE Arcade Stick.

I played a little last night with the pad,
and I couldn't pull off *any* of my usual combos reliably.

I'll be sticking with the stick wink

Pad; in fact, I've never actually used a stick (except for in the "lobby" arcade at the movies lol). smile

I use the stick on controllers. If I have my Fight-Stick I use that (it is currently broken).

I use a madcats SFIV pad (i think thats the proper name). Although I'm waiting for my new one in the mail since my old one kinda broke on me which is a shame because it had my favorite SF character on it, Zangief (i know nothing about playing SF tho, just thought he's cool lol). Kinda regret not upgrading to a stick before paying for a new pad, but I'm just so comfortable with it.

It'll still be a few days or maybe a week before it gets to me and MK is a nightmare playing online with a regular xbox controller. Soo fuckin frustrating not being able to do simple things I did regularly on my SF pad.

PS3 pad here. Never played on stick.

I though at first that I'm gonna have a hard time pulling off moves such as Kano's horizontal or downward cannonballs or Sektor's close and far missiles, but I got used to them.

I still struggle with pulling off Noob Saibot's enhanced teleport lol. I don't think that's because I'm playing on pad, I think it's because the input is just down, up without any action buttons. It's different from most other moves, so I guess my timing is off.

I still have problems with Kano's cannonball. Either i take too long to do the move and it gets blocked, or it doesn't come out at all. I hate they changed the input it was easyer when it was just back-foward...

I occasionally mess it up if I'm panicking in the heat of the battle, but if it's all cool it comes out nicely. Still, I would have preferred a more typical input combination (like b, f+3 or something like that). But it's also cool the way it is, makes Kano a bit more special.

I thought so too, but thing is; moves that are easier to abuse have way easier inputs. Don't see the reason they had to give him that input. Look, nowhere near as hard as say a Guile Ultra combo but it's still quite easy to miss an input (especially when on the P2 side for me).

I know what you mean-
I used to be completely incapable of pulling off
Rain or Noob's EX Teleport.

Then I realized it's super easy if you just hold block
while doing the D, U motion. smile

BTW- my formatting is like this b/c of MKO's column width wink

I use a pad for MK9, I use a stick for SSFIV: AE, 3S: OE and MvC3 though. I tried MK9 on my stick and it just didn't feel right for some reason.
