Okay, for the life of me, I cannot seem to beat anyone online who uses Ermac.

They all do the same lift, teleport, push combo over and over, and for some fucking reason I still get caught in it every time.

I'm finally asking for help on this, I need some tips on fighting these guys because while I can straight stomp the shit out of certain people, other people just kick my ass, mostly Ermac players.

I'm not very good, and I don't ever plan to be the best there ever was, but I'd love if someone could offer me some advice on countering the kinda of shit these players do.

If this thread becomes popular, I'll take other people's advice, advice of my own which I think has decent backing, and I'll put it all into one huge-ass post right here for everyone who feels like they could use a little help.

Peace.

Best way to fight Ermac is to block dash to get in, then punish anything he has because most of the moves you see from people online are quite slow.

Alright thanks, I'll give that a shot.

I just get frustrated and I haven't quite or broken a controller or anyhing yet, but I'm trying to avoid that when I play Ermac, because it's annoying and it seems like no matter what the fuck I do he gets me with some 43753045734-hit combo.

Basically you have to stay grounded. If you jump at him, you eat 35%. The only one of his specials that is exceptionally fast is his push, so be on the lookout for that when you're trying to advance. Best counterpick for Ermac is Johnny Cage, by the way.

I try not to follow all of that match-up stuff but it's funny you mention that, because yesterday some guy who was dominating a KOTH room with Ermac got his ass handed to me when I picked Cage.

I've managed to give Ermac players a hard time with Johnny Cage, Sub-Zero, and Liu Kang, but I don't want to stick to just a few people.

So I just fought someone who used Kung Lao and I was Sub-Zero, I straight whooped his ass.............until my fucking R2 got stuck, and I couldn't do anything except get my ass handed to me.

Also what I like to do to scrubby Ermac players is dash in and block right next to them and bait them to do a wake up force push or lift, then punish them with a full combo, this trick works on scrubby players and sometimes higher up Ermac players

Dash block is your friend, as Moseph already put it.

Ermac is a good character to build up your patience lol.

I main Sonya (and I'm a serious Sonya player btw) and I dominate his ass.

If he's playing zoning games from afar then you need to dash cancel block staying on the ground and jump over his projectile and punish him that way.

I would say close to him,OR far away. At mid distance he controls the fight.
From far away you can zone him out. His projectile is not very good and his teleport is quite slow. Excange some projectiles and you know he will try and trick you with a teleport. BAM!

Talking about poor to average players here of course, which seems to be 90% of the ones online.

Okay, I'm getting really pissed at now.

Every single fucking person I've played that uses Cyrax does nothing but throw nets, bombs, and fucking teleport.

Every single fucking person I've played that uses Mileena does nothing but throw sais, roll, and fucking teleport.

I'm really trying my best not to get annoyed but everyone I've face that uses these characters does the same exact thing, and I fucking fall for it everytime.

I either don't play the game enough, or I just fucking suck, either way I just can't do anything about it. The thing that gets me most is everyone hwo does this is like 500 and 0, and in the beginner lobby. I'm only in there because I got the game like two weeks ago. I don't see why these guys are.

^And then if you decline you get harassed lol.

You've just got to be defensive and patient against those type of players. I just block or evade everything until the inevitable teleport comes, which I then punish with an uppercut or combo. Basically just keep your distance and capitalize on their mistakes. smile Also, Nightwolf is a great pick for that type of fight, because of his great spacing moves, you can always keep your opponent away. His Reflector is great at catching your opponent off guard and baiting them into a teleport (it's also good to do his Lightning immediately after reflecting the projectile). The input for his Reflector is D, B, 2; so you can reflect the projectiles, then, as soon as they teleport, you'll do his Choke (D, F, 2), which grabs them out of the air. A blocked teleport can also be punished with his Hatchet, which is a great juggle starter. smile

Cyrax and Mileena are going to require some patience, dash blocking and evasion are very important.

Mileena is very punishable on missed specials. You can dunk under Mileena's projectiles and avoid chip damage, bait out the roll and teleport and punish with an uppercut or combo of your choice.

Cyrax's little bomb trap tries to set you up so you jump at him and he does an anti-air grab, jump away from him when you see the detonators come out, if he throws two out, you can jump as far away as possible and time your neutral jump to evade it all together, if Cyrax throws out only one detonater, dash away from it, don't jump away because he's plannning on launching a web and don't jump at him either as he's still reading to anti-air you.
