So I played DetroitBallin yesterday!
OMG so I've been thinking about swearing off playing MK2011's ranked online or even getting involved with online much, but for some bizzare reason, I decided to play ranked yesterday.
I was sitting there reading this book and then I look up because my oppoent had been found and I was like, "wait...is that who I think it is!?"
And sure enough it was the one and only DetroitBallin' tournament player, I was so hyped for this fight I could not stop smiling and tripping out it was a huge rush.
He picked Kabal(I've never seen his Kabal in action before) and I picked Stryker(of course) and I got bodied, some of those block stun presssure combos just got me good, he did some stuff with Kabal I haven't seen, but what makes me feel good is that even though he won both rounds, he had around 30% health left each time, it wasn't a total blow out, so I'm proud I put up a better fight than I thought I would, it was super fun. Oh and no lag either, which made it perfect, that Rarely if ever happens lol.
I wish it wasn't in ranked I wanted to rematch him several more times, would have been amazing.
I played three great players in a row yesterday this Brazilian (guy or girl) who mained Jade, total beast with her and somebody who mains Sektor, I lost all of them, but these were great players so I could careless.
Just thought I would share this with you guys and hopefully I get to play him again and that awesome Jade player, might add them both on PSN

LOL! Awesome! And you did well!
I envy you so much! Ugh, now I hate the region lock on PS3 even MOAR!!!
Btw, I always go to play ranked when the most popular rooms are filled up. It's kinda cool to just play one match for a change and move on.

Nice, I played him a while back when he was just starting out with Shang and I beat him a few times with mileena. Then I recently played him and he was using Kabal and I got destroyed.

I played him once in a KOTH, Cyber Sub vs Shang, I won one round and that's it lol. He hangs out in MKU, if you want to have more matches with him.

Best I've got is playing you, Espio. I got so pumped, because I've never played someone as well known on the forums as you, man. Also, I'm pretty sure you've done a little better than you think you have against Detroit's Kabal, because I hear Kabal is Stryker's worst match-up.

Thank you, so worth playing the cheesers last night haha.
I'm so disappointed by that, no matter where we're at in the world, we can only play like less than 40% of the global player base, I would love to play you guys too another key thing is that it makes the online community less diverse, vibrant, and interesting.

That's pretty good, Mileena shuts Shang Tsung's stuff down pretty effectively, love her. Kabal is just a monster in his hands.
if you still play I wouldn't mind playing you

lol aww shucks I feel special now
And thanks, it means a lot coming from such a good player. I think Kabal is in his top 5 for worst match ups, but then again, Kabal gives everyone hell lol.

I played against REO on night... Got beat in ways never before seen lol.
I played BookBurning two times on Xbox now.
He's a member of TYM, and he has an amazing Rain.
I just won against him, i'm pretty happy now. My Cage is getting better! And he sent me the message saying "Great job bro gg" because the first time I fought him he sent me a message saying he's seen me on TYM before.
I thought that was pretty cool.

I have played Detroit Ballin on PSN as well. But beware of imposters. th one I played was "DetroitBallin313" Before he was all over the news leads for that big win. So it's likely the legit one. And he played Shang.
We have gone back and forth quite a few times. Im not a shit talker, but I beat him about 70% of the time. Id guess we played overall, a total of 10 matches. And I know I won a good majority.
That being said, Online performance literally means nothing. Its great to learn moves and anticipate how a player will react in situation. But with a game based on frame advantages etc. Its literally a dead cause from the get-go to compare online performance to actual skill. Seeing as latancy turns ALL of that on its head.
That also being said. Some of the ebst matches I have had were online. And the worst. with a good opponent and a good connection. Much fun can be had and much learning can take place. But its still essentially a hole. As everything has a delay, eliminating the balance of the game to some point. Online records mean nothing, online fights mean nothing. Only after making the transition to a competitor have I realized just how important offline is. I am DEFFINATELY not trying to take anything away from you or anybody here in terms of performance. Who knows, you might have even done BETTER without it being online. Congrats on achieving a competitive match with one of the best.
I have also played with PigOfTheHut on his psn account "bambamguitar". we were about even in terms of wins.
I cannot wait to hit up some of these big tournaments. With time finally on my hands. I have a total of 4 potential tourneys coming up. RevolutionX, APEX, WinterBrawl and FinalRound.
Great stuff guys. Anybody is free to challenge me online for a few good matches, also.

Well that's very impressive, I just saw Pig of The Hut play at SCR, I hadn't seen him prior to this, he seemed to have done well with Mileena from what I recall.
Yes, online is a bit tricky due to some characters having a huge advantage online and the lag that plagues most matches.
Good luck at those tournaments and feel free to post them to share with us, any footage would be greatly welcome Cass.
Oh and also salty runbacks on dat Kung Lao lol.
We haven't played in a while, so we'll have to change that :)

I'm hoping next game region lock is removed and we get a much more quality experience. It really hurts the experience with needless region locks, if the online was quality, I suspect we wouldn't have had a region lock.
As for my rank, the rank of Shadow Priest is a temporary position that I got elected to, my time of service was over, so I'm back to mortal status.
New Shadow priests are NS922, Nephrite, Torchia, and J-Spit, if you're curious.
