Ive already been through 3 ps3 controllers since this game came out in April. I hate the damn d-pads, they get worn out too easily. If I go into practice mode and just try to throw Mileena sais (B-F1) as fast as I can, i end up jumpin forward or backwards like a retard....because wen i hit back or forward it reads the input as up-forward as if i were pressn the angles.
I think im ready to use my first evr joystick! Nevr even played in an arcade b4. I was wonderin what sticks you guys use, where to order from or juz stick with ps3 controller. furiouswowgrin

I prefer a warn in D-pad. been with one DS3 controller since release. Tried using stick, not happening.

Also have a PS2 DS2 controller with a PS3 converter, for big tourneys.

PS2 controllers are great. The D-pad is amazing for a lot of people. I used one for around 4 months until it broke. I currently use a fightpad, but I use a stick for UMK3.

L2/R2 are much more responsive being regular buttons rather than pressure sensitive triggers that could input your command at varying times, causing dropped EX's or accidental EX's on rare occasion. COuld mean the fight.

Also, bigger tourneys dont usually allow DS3's or any cordless controllers. At least to my knowledge. Wired is mandatory to prevent people connecting during a future match and messing with the game and potentially ruining the outcome.

PS button also. complete fail. Seen it hit plenty of times during a big match. People usually use PS2 pads in a big stage. or a ps3 wired.

The best controller is the Fighting Commander 3 Pro, I've been using it for a few months now, it's totally awesome, it's far superior to the Madcatz fightpad and you should be able to find it for $39.99.

I use the PS3 controller, but I'm thinking of getting myself a PS2->PS3 pad convertor as I really dislike the L2/R2 buttons on the PS3 pad.

A Dual shock 2 with two converters for PS3 and 360. That way I can use the same pad in tournaments and on both consoles.

I was using one of those silver Xbox 360 controllers with the twistable Dpad, but my nephew went to town on it when playing against Ra's Al Ghul in Arkham City and as a result the Y button is a bit unresponsive.

@NS5: Y has always been rather irresponsible. The question is: Y?
As for my stick of choice, it's in the picture below. Otherwise I have become accustomed to the original Xbox 360 controller.

I use the old PS3 SixAxis controller, the one before DualShock 3. It's pretty good for me, the only problem is not the d-pad, but the left analog stick. Back then I played a lot of COD4: Modern Warfare, I sprinted a lot, it somehow messed up my left stick later on. If I push it ever so slightly upwards, the PS3 registers the input as up. So less-than-frequently I accidently jump during the match, mostly at the beginning of a match.

www.hitboxarcade.com and that will never happen to you again.
EDIT NUMBER F***ING SEVEN: So I guess typing in [a href="www.hitboxarcade.com"] where the ['s =
You'll have to copypaste or google hitbox to see what I mean I guess. Thanks MKO.
Edit 8: I can't tell you how mother f***ing annoying it is to do an edit and then see that I forgot your idiot < br/ >'s MKO.

Hori arcade stick. Once you get used to a stick (it takes about two weeks at least) you will never look back. MK is kinda the exception in that it is still easy to play with a pad but pretty much every single other fighting game is 1000x easier with a stick.

You can pick up a cheap stick (not as cheap as Zmoke's one though) and see if it is for you before investing in a tournament level model.

I've never actually played a PS3. I didn't realize the controllers were so much worse than the PS2. I'm using a standard 360 controller. D-pad sucks so I just use the analog stick with few problems.

Don't worry, V.8 will be idiot proof.

The current version already is idiot proof. If you know the right code, then it won't go wrong. But anyways, that's off-topic, sorry. :3
