First of all, if you're trying to say others are "geeky" who follow or read comics yet aren't if you "follow a vid game series" you're kidding yourself

Well I didn't. Obviously you have insecurities to deal with.

Second, ummm unless you A. weren't born yet in the early mid 90's or B. seriously live in a hole in the wall in exile, isolated from the world then you've heard of Superman and Doomsday...it was only umm worldwide news during the mid 90's...exactlysleep

Or maybe it was so unimportant that the everyday people didn't give a rat's ass and forgot. But thanks anyway for showing everyone what you think is important when it comes to world news MKF.

MK vs. DC isn't a retarded idea, what's retarded is people judging it before it's even A.confirmed or B. out. Now that's retarded

It's confirmed now. I'll just wait for you to preach about what an awesome idea it is (hence judge it before it's out) and make a complete hypocrite of yourself smile. This ship is sinking fast and you're manning the boat MKF. Have a nice swim.

beeing a good comic dont mean it should be in a fighting game with the likes of mortal kombat.

I've got to say, going back to games like Justice League Task Force and onward to the X-Men beat 'em ups, I've never seen the appeal of ramming these characters frivilously into a fight set-up. Their contextual reference comes from on-going adventure, so it stands to reason that a platformer, adventure, and other games with a real-time development would suit them far better.

That's not really what's got me sour on MK vs DCU, though.
I don't think anyone could deny that, in a year with a major Batman sequel arriving with all kinds of momentum, this is a major coup for the MK franchise, but... At the same time, doesn't this reek of a white flag of sorts, as well?

Watching the progress of industry rivals like Street Fighter, I've been very disappointed to see brands losing a lot of their joie de vivre of what made them iconic. This, for all intents in purposes, signals a similar lapse in MK history, inevitably surrendering a chunk of story to the inconsequential nature of a game that will inevitably start with a sloppy mcguffin, and end with a contract that denies future reference.

For MK, story has been the one arena in which they've really been able to beat the international opposition into submission. A game like this seems like an absolute white flag, not only by stripping the vivid MK saga out, but also by resting on the crutch of another major American property.
It's a bit like a bad joke. It's the sloppy seconds to their more successful rivals who found success with the Capcom vs Marvel games.

It's a surprise!
I want to say Midway have taken some sort of advantage of a licensing agreement that saw them distribute the recent Justice League Heroes game, but it's naive to think DC's armada of lawyers could be so sloppy.

It's a culture shock! As much as I've longed to see a solid step into comics from MK, these are two franchises I'd never have sought to bring together. Creatively they're so removed, and no doubt one side will lose out, probably MK. Because the DC heroes aren't inclined to dish death as frivilously as the gimmickery MK is famous for, but that's an intrinsic part of the franchise. Whoever buckles will come off the loser, but one wonders if the dedicated fans might be the true losers here.

So much for the next exciting step forward!
I guess we'll have to wait a while for that.

Nice toughts, I was thinking about the white flag thing also this morning. I was thinking that Midway drained soo much out of the series, there is nothing much left. Did they realized this and decided not to make a revival MK. Or is this a strategy to save MK for now so in the future a revival can take place. Or is this the standard "milk the cow" concept Midway has been doing the last years. And this is the last thing they could think of.

PS. what do u you mean by DC's lawyers can't be so sloppy?

One of the key elements that had me doubting the game prior to the announcement was DC's noteriety for being zealously over protective, at times, of their properties.
Midway already had a DC license for the last Justice League game, so I was really just musing on the surprise of it all. I'm not actually suggesting Midway exploited a loophole in a licensing agreement, because companys like DC (and Marvel) are well known for having very thorough representation. I'm just surprised!

Although, it'll be interesting to watch the comic side of things.
There haven't really been any indications, at least as far as I know, coming from the DC side of the fence. I wonder if we'll see anything published. It still shocks me that Marvel/Capcom fumbled their plans for a tie-in book.

Over the last 10 yeards, the boys at Midway have unleashed upon the gaming world an endless flood of raw sewage disguised as MK games. We've got Ultimate MK3, where pallette swapping reaches whole new levels. We've got MK4 where they introduce some of the worst characters in the history of the franchise in a pathetic attempt to reinvent themselves. We've got Deadly Alliance, the single worst looking 3D fighting game to come out since Virtua Fighter 1. We've got Deception, a minor rehash of the broken Deadly Alliance engine with a buncha crap old characters and a buncha crap new characters thrown in. We've got Armageddon, which is an even minorer rehash of the Deadly Alliance engine with every they could think of thrown in except for a decent playing experience.

All in all, MK vs DC would almost have to be a step up.
