Might as well settle it now: We decided there are just too many unknowns surrounding Kotal Kahn to include him this year.

Even with Boon tweeting he isn't "related" to Shao Kahn, we couldn't rule out the possibility that he is Shao Kahn - or other outcomes that might change our direction. On the plus side - Kotal Kahn should be an interesting debut in next year's tournament! (And we got one last chance to talk about some characters who'll inevitably face relegation).

True, but we really don't know much about D'Vorah or F&T either.

We were given greater confidence in D'Vorah, Ferra/Torr & Cassie Cage being wholly new characters, whose basic concepts are more self-evident. We could've ignored MKX all together, but wanted to incorporate some aspect of the topical E3 announcements and the transition between games.

MKX will obviously be the primary focus of next year. It should be interesting to see how an anticipated Kotal Kahn does in 2015! (And whether or not we have a reason to include Shao Kahn - or other - in relegation).

Your logic is faulty. Just because a character was created before others does not automatically make it better in any way.

I'm also very dissapointed they didn't include Kotal Kahn. Hes the best out of the new characters revealed so far.

Ok, this is hard, I love Goro character and design though I think in MKX a new younger shokan (playable, less hulky) could be cooler, and smoke... damm I loved his redesign in MK9, fun to play cool to watch, huge possibilities in MKX... grrrrrrrrrrr let me see.... just a second.... grrrr.... SMOKE! (But only if we are going to see another shokan in MKX)

I think Smoke is somewhat bland. Enenra who is a robot then isn't. Also one subbies bff and the other subbies bitch.
Goro to me is kinda nifty. He goes from fearsome sub boss to kitanas ally, then totally betrays her and is bad again. Layers man. Layers. I vote for Prince Badass.
