With a roster like that, an 8/8 split is okay, especially given how many characters in MK9 died...

Well because 8 from MK4 would be EVERY new character from MK4, I think Meat included and I just can't see that...or Jarek if I'm being completely honest. From MKDA-MKA I can really only see Bo, Kenshi, Li Mei, and Havik coming back. Maaaaaaaybe Frost and Nitara but I can't imagine any non DOA fighting with this many girls lol.

Well I'm not from Chicago, so I couldn't really make that promise. But if i were there, I would. (No I wouldn't haha, I wouldn't promise i would either. Im not much of a troll)

Hmm maybe you're right about the girls and it's just wishful thinking on my part but 8 from MK4 is a bit of a strech too. Considering the story doesn't follow just MK4 but goes as far as 25 years later, I'd say a balanced number of characters between MK4 & MKD (the ones that are the most demanded and can contribute to the overall story of course) makes sense.
Plus MK4 had just 8 new characters and Boon mentioned that we are gonna see both MK9 characters returning and post MK4 characters. So Quan Chi could be considered a returning character and Shinnok might not even be playable. That leaves us with 6 and I honestly don't see them bringing Meat or Jarek back lol. I'd say the 4 left (Fujin, Tanya, Kai, Reiko) have the most chances of being playable. Don't take this number for granted though. I think bringing back just 6 from MK9 would piss a lot of ppl off. If they do it though, I really hope Mileena, Rain, Cyrax, Sektor and Smoke are among them.

From a company's money point of view though, a 'Classic Pack DLC" would sell like hot-cakes, featuring some more of the MK9 cast...

Exactly. No way are we getting all 8 MK4 characters. Quan Chi and Shinnok are more of a given so perhaps Fujin, Kai, and maybe Tanya but probably not more than that.

NRS has said fans will definitely be pleased with the returning roster and that "loads" of classic characters will be in the game so it's definitely more than 6. and Truthfully I wouldn't even count Scorpion and Sub-Zero in that hypothetical 8. They'll always been in regardless of what's going on.

The only post MK3 characters that should be given another chance are

14 new chars is really huge for a roster of maybe 30. But if they are like the 4 new we already saw.. i'm looking forward to see them.

The demo part really isn't a spoiler, and out of everything it's the most believable. MK9 and Injustice both had demos, it only stands to reason MKX would do the same.

8/8 seems a bit of a stretch in terms of returning characters. 14 new also seems like a stretch to me. I would say 10-12, would be comfortable.

30 characters would be good, though.

The Tanya returning seems like a no brainer.

And I can confirm there has been a recent visit to NRS by some players recently.

14 new characters? I wont believe it untill i see it, I dont believe at all that NRS has shown the roster yet and they would tell them openly like look "14 new characters and 8 from mk9 and 8 from MK4.
C'mon seriously? After all those interviews Ed did he never mentioned anything like that.

The Shinnok part is a given as they progress through time and MK 9 was MK1,2 & 3 timeline, its normal it follows up towards 4 and then maybe MK DA & Deception.

Considering there were only like 5 new characters for MK 4 EXCLUDING Quan Chi. As he was in MK 9. Also excluding Jarek, filthy palette swapped Kano, no one liked.

If this was MK gold then exclude Cyrax Sektor Baraka Kitana Mileena KungLao, as they were all included in MK9.

Now take the 8 - 3 Mk fighters for MKX, Reiko, Fujin, Tanya, Kai, Shinnok (if playable) only 5
Im not counting Jarek, im 100% sure he will not be in, he is the least favorite also palette swap for Kano.

If your friends say there are 8 playable MK 9 characters thats going to be a big problem for the fans, "ONLY 8" lets take the most basic ones here for a second.

I'm the type to reserve judgment. So I won't immediately dismiss these claims. Whether or not it turns out to be true, at least we have something new to talk about.

As others said, even if the informant had fake info, most of it seems plausible and even surprising if not true.

If there would be 8 characters from the 3D era, I hope that includes Sareena, Reiko and Kenshi (I count him and Quan Chi in this groups rather than as returning MK9 characters because they weren't from the MK1-3 initial set).

Btw, Kenshi's MK9 moveset is perfect to divide it in 3 styles, having the katana for basic moves, then dividing the styles on telekinetic moves, astral form combos and moves where the katana was used with his mind.

Wouldn't be surprised. Remember the Goro and Ermac posters that were on the walls of NRS for mk9 before they were even officially announced.

I really wouldn't mind all these new characters and post-Trilogy characters. I am honestly tired of seeing all those old ones and while I don't dislike many of them, I'm just not that interested in seeing them again. They got their spotlight in MK9 and the ones that aren't dead and have impact on the plot should be in it, but other than that, I don't care much. I want to see new characters and quite a few MK4-MKD characters deserve another roster spot. Some of them have only been in 1 or 2 games other than MKA while the Trilogy characters have been in enough already.

I'd be happier if it were 12 returning from MK9, 6 from MK4-MKA, and 12 New.

6 from MK4-MKA would allow them to be very selective of who they include: Tanya, Reiko, Shinnok, Fujin, X, and X.

I could also see them using this as saying Reiko was always so and so, and he'd essentially take Noob's spot as the Brotherhood of the Shadow guy.
