Blaze was suppose to have been captured on a bridge by Dragon king fanatics, right? To guard the dragon king's egg. But, this should've happened centuries ago, right? Before Kahn went into power, or at least just a few years after the dragon king died. However, we see that Blaze is being ''captured'' in MKII.
Just thought I'd share that.
if you are reffering to the bridge in the background of that pit level then that isnt blaze. its just two people getting ready to fight and no on e is doing any capturing of any kind

There are three rules for doing scientific research. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are.
That's what I think ;).

until you can show me an interview where they say that it is ..........its not blaze

Fine. Here:
[18:45] Hey ed who are those two fighters in the pit 2
background?
[18:45] They are Torch, and Liu Kang.
Torch was later renamed to Blaze for copyright reasons.
And the link:

Blaze (Tourch, whatever) is probably the most famous background element, therefore Boon and co. seen it as a great idea to add him in. I agree, Blaze is a pretty cool character, with a interesting storyline. It is a bit odd though, how he was captured in MK2, but how was he captured anyway? One theory suggests that the person Blaze is battling in The Pit II isn't Liu Kang, but rather a workman for the Dragon King. I'm sure we all know the "Hornbuckle" debate, and its been pretty much proven that the character in the BG was Liu Kang, Ed Boon himself has said so. But obviously, Liu Kang didn't 'capture' Blaze, that would make no sense. So Blaze had to have been captured during or after MK2, by the Dragon King's followers...
Well, that story is a bit complicated, good observation Zentile.

Wreckless Wrote: i havnt read the artivle yet but does it actually say he was captured during MK2? isnt it possible that they are just gonna have a normal fight? or maybe just talk? |
Yeah, but the thing is he was supposed to have been captured centuries ago, after the death of the Dragon King. So he shouldn't be there in MK2 at all, because he's captive. That's the flaw.

he was fighting...got on fire....was dieing..the holy men brought him back..and since he was on fire they gave him his fire powers.....the riddle is what his mission was and how pissed he must be that he didn't finish it
i wonder if its anything heroric..like he holds the secret to stopping ____________(some bad guy)

Theophanis Wrote: The name of the other person on the bridge with Blaze in MK2 is Hornbuckle. When MKII first came out I don't think either of them even had names. I didn't start hearing Torch and Hornbuckle until MK3 - UMK3, and I still never saw the names written on anything official. They were just for background props when MKII came out. So if Blaze's story seems a little not on track then that's probably why. |
Not Hornbuckle.
Hornbuckle is just a name made by the fans. It is Liu Kang.
If you read my message above I quoted the Dev Team in saying that they are Liu Kang and Torch. Torch was renamed to Blaze due to copyright.

Ahh, see when you said that I thought you meant it.
Oh well, misunderstanding.

I'll hope that wasn't meant to be rude, it was a misunderstanding

Nope, wasn't intended to be rude if it gave off those vibes. Blaze as a character kicks ass, and I always wondered how the flaming dude on the bridge would look as acharacter ever since I saw him in MKII, but I don't like that he was basically just a throw in character instead of a regular character that has special moves along with at least one fatality.
