Could basically have one arcade machine running an MK original and the other running MK on Mame and people not know the difference? Assuming you have the computer specs needed

For MK1, MK2 and MK3 yes it theoretically possible, they can be virtually indistinguishable. UMK3 there are some glitches that were never worked out because the MAME dev team simply doesn't care about MK.

What kind of glitches are in there? Is it all just stuff like the happy rainbow-colored select screen? Or is the sound glitchier than it is on normal MK3? (haven't played normal MK3 in who knows how long so I wouldn't have noticed a difference) Oh and obviously MK4 isn't perfect yet, but I assume the original poster wasn't even thinking of that one. That has only been added to MAME recently, along with a million other "non-working" 3D games. For MK1, MK2 and MK3 yes it theoretically possible, they can be virtually indistinguishable. MK4 does not work at all yet as far as I know. It says no sound, but it just doesn't work, it's on a wishlist so to speak but I'm sure they'll do it eventually, not really looking forward to that.
The glitches are pretty much just the selection screen and sometimes Choose Your Destiny is screwed up too, along with Smoke's smoke glitching if you lose to say second Endurance on Master Master. I have had it show up all kinds of different, but semi solid, colors, green, red, black, orange, tan, gold, only stays like that the first round.
People have made mention of the "Get..." and "Come..." getting cut off, but I have never played on a version of the game in the arcade that didn't do that and I'm sure I've played 1.2. I know for a fact it cuts off in 1.1 as I checked this summer at an arcade. It's the blood splatter that does it, you'll notice sounds cut off on Kung's hat throw, Kitanas fan throw, and Stryker's gun as well cause they all activate blood splatter.
The only thing I could think of that would totally set apart any of them is the sound delay, but I have gotten Mamemore to play sound perfectly with a very minor, almost unoticable delay, but I'm sure there's a way to fool into playing it in sync.

Because they don't care/test enough. I'm shocked UMK3 came out as well as it did.

In my opinion, MK2 is the best, and greatest fighting game of the history of fighting games. It's a legend. It seems to me that after MK2, the team started to go commercial with the game, not giving the game 110% focus, and making the game more commercialized to appeal to younger crowds with the watered down fatalities and such, and the watered down look. MK2 was a dark sadistic game with some gruesome ass fatalities, dark music which still has yet to meet its match, darker, more sinister looking charecters, and the corny friendships were actually pretty amusing in MK2.
point being that they lacked the real interest that went into making MK2. In my words, and my opinion, the game beyond MK2 has become teenie bop. I still enjoy a few rounds of trilogy or mk3, but I can go all day on MK2.I have an MK2 arcade machine if anyone that lives near me wants a challenge, a good blast from the past. hell, get a bunch over, and we'll relive some arcade days all over again.

I couldn't have said it better myself.... but what does this have to do with glitches in MAME?

Opinions opinions opinions. Don't forget that gameplay was the main focus of MK3 and UMK3, MK2 is a slow, boring, turtlefesting, broken game. MK3 and UMK3 improved everything about gameplay and focused less on pleasing the gore fans with "good" fatalities lol. If anything, the violence and gore was more directed towards younger fans who aren't capable of playing the games like the older ones are. Anyone who STILL cares that much about fatality quality has got some type of problem.

hehe thats true, anyone who thinks mk2 is better then mk3/umk3/trilogy gameplay wise just doesnt know fighting games. The only thing Mk2 had over umk3 was presentation, the actual gameplay gets boring after lets say about 5 matches lol.

Yeah actually I am worried about fatalities like that. if they would have done mk3 more like 2 with the new gameplay, and way better fatalities, the overall experience would have kept me a fan of it.
Sorry, MK2 reigns supreme, and if you had a poll across the world for best MK ever released in history, I can gurantee the numbers would win for MK2. But hey, you like what you like. I'm not here to debate.
MAME does have some issues sometimes. like the sound will get real glitchy, and gameplay will slow down, or sounds skip. but if you have a good comp, those problems are reduced. but yes it can be glitchy.

I can play UMK3 forever on Mamemore83 without any sound glitches.
As for your world poll, you'd have to ask people the specific question, which game had better fatalities, and which had better gameplay. Popularity wise, everyone knows MK2 is the winner, but that is because the average MK fan in 1993 didn't care about gameplay cause the fatality concept was still new. There's a lot of psychology behind it and when you get really indepth with a study on people and the way their brains work, you get real results.
