hi, im a huge fan of the mk series but in my view mk4 was the end. mk should of never gone 3d and jumped on the tekken bandwagon i think 2d would be still good if it was still around i know it would. mk is to cartoonish now. i see the new mk screenshots and sub zero looks like hes on steroids its a shame boon didnt keep it 2d. well thats just what i think how about you. hi im new here its good to talk about mk again

But 3-D allows for more freedom. In 2-D you have limits. I personly like the move to 3-D. There have been alot more creative fatalies and moves thanks to 3-D

Have you guys played any of the Resident Evil remakes? Because if you haven't, try it, and you will be convinced that it IS possible to have a 3-d game that's not cartoonish at all! They look almost real! I agree, MK looks too cartoony now, and I think that Ed Boon should, at least in the next game, make the characters a little more real. It IS possible with 3-D.

I still don't get where people get this whole "3D MK's are too cartoony."MK has ALWAYS been fantasy if MK added real situation and stuff I don't think it would be too fun to play.I see what Ed Boon is trying to do with MK he's trying not too be like the other Fighting games. He's trying too keep it it's own game meaning he's trying to give it it's own style.
As for 3D and 2D.I prefer the 3D MK games better for 2 reasons:
Thing's look alot better and...
You can do alot more stuff in 3D than 2D.If MK was still 2D I bet you that MK would be the same as it was a few years ago just with diffrent stages and charcters.I still play the old MK's though every once in awhile. But I prefer 3D.There is one thing 2D will always have over 3D games. And that is 2D graphics can't die.Everytime a new console comes out the 3D graphics get better and it makes the older 3D games look like crap.Play a PS2 game then play a PS1 game you'll see a BIG difference.

I'm not saying make it REAL so that everything is as real as canget. I'm saying that he should make people look like real people in cool costumes. I just think their muscles are too bulky and some of their faces are too exaggerated. I still love the games tho.

No one ever had a problem with the theme since everyone knows it's fantasy. Also cartoony and fantasy are not one which you can see by the old 2-D MK games since they used real people.
What people mean when they say the characters look cartoony is that their muscles are not realistic size(sometimes their abnormal just like the titts) and that the style of 3-D they use is not a realistic looking 3-D which MK needs imo.
And it's true. The 3-D engine/texttures they use make the characters look cartoony. I don't know if it's the colors being too colorful or what but they don't look realistic. Midway/Boon need to start making the characters look realistic since killing real people is what made the game the craze it was.

I agree with you. MK1-MK Gold were a lot better, and actually faster than MKDA. When MKDA hit the store shelves, and I got it, and played it I was like: "This Sucks!" Ever since MK was in arcade it was always different, now it is just like every other game out there, and slower than before. What happened to our famous HP, LP, HK, and LK, BLK, and RN buttons? Couldn't we leave them in and tweek the combo system. Where are some of the old fighers special moves? Scorpion's Teleport Punch, Sonya's Leg Grab, and Cage's Split Punch? I'll admit an old saying is true, but this time the old saying: "Change Is Good" for MK, is false. I've only played MKDA to see the endings, and Fatalities, and they also were a major disappointment from previous games. At least you had some more options in older games on how to end the match. In my opinion, he should have left it the way it is, but it is his game, and he has total control. Fans from before like most of my friends, and myself, are no longer interested in MK. We will however have the treasures soon, which we will be getting.

I guess that's what this forum is for... Hardcore classic MK fans, perhaps those who respected the older games more.
